nutmeg User ID: 18480806 United States 03/20/2014 08:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My mother has been diagnosed with myeloma. She has to go back to the doctors next week to find out what stage, and what treatment options are available. My older brother is handling her doctors at this point, but he is going in the hospital for a hip replacement on April 8th, and will be out of action for a while.I will have to take over at that time. Quoting: tiger1 My mother is 91 years old, has congestive heart failure, and is on oxygen. She only weighs 78 pounds. IMO,she needs to do alternatives, as I believe the chemo will kill her a lot sooner than the cancer. It is up to her, as to what she wants to do. She is quite competent, and can make her own choices. I ask for prayers from you all. This horrible news is on top of other bad family news we have got today. My daughters are devastated over this.I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone. Prayers for you and mom. It's so difficult for us when mom is not doing well. I'm an RN and always wondered why families were having a hard time accepting their elderly parents' sickness and death....until my 91 year old mom was dying. It was devastating. Let her go, and once she's gone, (I'll bet she's ready), you will realize she lived a good life, and that she's in a better place. She's lucky to have you. Take care of your brother. He's probably her favorite (the boys are). lol Last Edited by nutmeg on 03/20/2014 10:06 PM |

His heart stopped and 9 times had to be resuscitated. The doctors told my mother that they couln't keep doing that because it was cooking his heart. They said that he would never leave the hospital, so she relented and signed the order not to resuscitated again, but my dad and god had other ideas. He walked out of that hospital, and we had him for another year before he finally left us. I will pray for your mother and you. |

Just never abandon hope. Light across the Sea Sometimes your life just crashes And the walls come tumbling down Everything lost once so precious Makes laughter lose it's crown Don't waste your time just grieving Over times that could have been Don't blame yourself for ignoring The things you should have seen Life is just to precious Please don't let it fall apart And you'll see, in those ashes Are moments that touched your heart Maybe we are all just fishes Swimming in this big wide sea Rushing off into the darkness On the run and never free But somewhere in the darkness There's a light across the sea All you need to do is reach out And find that light in me |

Father God, thank you for pouring out your love and injecting yourself into this situation. I rebuke this cancer in the Name of Jesus and ask for healing for this mom and the brother who needs hip surgery. Thank you for giving the person who posted this prayer request strength to care for her family members. Thank you for leading this family to the right doctors and natural options. I pray for peace that surpasses understanding to cover this family....and for providing what they need in this difficult time. In Jesus Name, Amen. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 22171307 United States 03/20/2014 10:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | prayers for you and your family. It is never easy to face terminal illness, your mother is blessed to have such a caring daughter and grandchildren. My mother lost her life to lung cancer at the age of 70. I tried to convince her not to do chemo knowing she did not have the strength to endure it. Sadly she went through with it, and her quality of life plummeted and she was unable to even function until she passed. It is not worth any extra time it gives you if your quality of life is so bad. God Bless you and your mother. She has lived a very long life and is very lucky for that. I would recommend spending as much time as you can celebrating the life she has lived, sharing memories and reminiscing with your children so they can share in her wonderful life. |
