There have been too many reports of the USGS deleting known quakes from its public database. The data is not even remotely "trustworthy". The increase in quakes is something readily observable to any media watcher.

Your Conspiracy Fantasy would require all the world's geological institutions, as well as many amateurs, to be in on it.

TLR, don't let Max get to you. Just remember he is an idiot with no sense of decency. Everything in his pathetic world revolves around supporting the likes of Nancy and Clif who make vague prognostications and spread fear for personal gain. He will conveniently ignore the fact that NZ is highly seismic and that scientists have long stated that the country was overdue for big quakes and volcanic upheavals.

Just one night before this happened, I watched a CBC documentary about the geology of the Pacific Rim, and most of the show focused on NZ. Beautiful countryside and amazing geology. The earth is constantly changing, building and eroding. It is only bad when people happen to be living in the affected area, which happens more frequently because there are more of us spread over a greater area. Max doesn't care about loss of life and a lifetime of hard work. He doesn't care about the loss of loved landmarks. He only cares about perpetuating lies. Every time he shows a glimmer of decency, he promptly destroys it with his ignorance and insensitivity.

Some day the scenario NZ is coping with will happen here where I am and it won't be pretty. But it will be caused by natural phenomenon that is overdue and not by some imaginary planet. NZ has a lot of healing and rebuilding ahead, and decent people world wide stand behind the people of NZ during such hard times. Just ignore the chicken littles. It's easy for them to feel victorious when disaster doesn't affect them personally.

Thankyou for your kind thoughts. And yes I do have a few wider family(whanau) members and friends living in Christchurch. Thankfully all are ok as far as I know.

The majority of my immediate family live in our Capital, Wellington, which given all the projections from the experts, is well overdue for a major earthquake event.

Then why can't you support it with something? The USGS isn't the only source for earthquake data.

Sorry -- I don't buy it. There were 'too many reports' about companies hiding their Y2K failed attempts at repair, too many reports of supposed Y2K catastrophes hidden from the public, and too many anecdotes of Y2K bugs being totally impossible to fix because they were far too widespread. Believers claimed that the increase in problems was 'readily observable to any media watcher' too.

Like those who believed Y2K was truly TEOTWAWKI, they, too, found any remediation reports that claimed Y2K compliance as to not be 'remotely trustworthy' because **it didn't fit with their pre-conceived notion that Y2K was going to be an epic disaster.**

The PX/2012 thing is *precisely* the same -- and, ZM, you are showing *precisely* the same mindset as those Y2K believers in '99. And, like them, there is no evidence that can possibly change your mind, short of the 2013 date rolling over -- and likely, not even then.

Quite sad.

The shallow nature(5 kms depth) of the 6.3 mag earthquake, following the 7.1/7.4 mag quake from september last year and on top of the 4500 aftershocks, has basically brought our 2nd largest city to it's knees. The damage is immense and devastating. Our small nation may be facing its worst earthquake disaster ever in terms of fatalities.

Yeah, maybe severe, but he deserves it. I didn't appreciate him gossiping about me and others, stating as if he knew that I had left in protest, when all I did was take a step back since many of my friends here were not going to be here. I take issue with the way he "reported" on Dr. Postman's situation with glee and repeating rumors as if they were true. It came across as an attempt to get me and others banned. I guess it should be expected of maxipads though. It is in the poorest of taste to crow zetas right when the OP's country is in the middle of a tragedy, and all Nancy ever did was make vague predictions of "increase in earthquakes". There is a time and place for trolling and role playing, and this is not the right time or place.

Dude, I spend 10, maybe fifteen minutes a day on GLP (mostly check it for news). The rest of my day - all 23 hours and 45 minutes of it has NOTHING to do with it and is COMPLETELY detached from it.

Ps: Current death toll from earthquake is 123 confirmed & identified people. There are 200 plus people still reported as missing. The deceased and those on the missing list comprise of people from approx 20 nations.

I lived through a similar situation in Wichita Falls, Texas. . . . mile wide Tornado . . . in the late 70's . . . 800 plus injured and 200 plus killed. The town of 100,000 lost 25% of all homes and about 40% of all businesses . . . if it is any consolation we rebuilt bigger and better . . . many heroic stories of sacrifice and human compassion as well. I know you will do much better than we did!!!!!

Simply incredible. I could understand it if anything she said were true. But there is no "Planet X" skulking about the inner solar system, the Earth is not halted in orbit, nor is it wobbling about. So, just what clarity and understanding could she possibly bring you?
