I do indeed have a telescope, exactly as described. However, due to interference in the optical range by the Red Persona of Planet X, visual observations of PX are best made with an old pair of opera glasses or two toilet-paper rolls held up to the eyes.

It also helps if I shove my head up my ass before a viewing session. Max is quite adept at this, since he's basically spent his entire adult life in that very position.

There are more general aviation aircraft WITHOUT GPS than there are WITH.

I guess she thinks that GPS is the sole navigation aid that aircraft use. She never heard of "dead reckoning", VOR and a magnetic compass. Most general aviation aircraft are operated using visual flight rules (VFR).

I wonder what they would say if I told them that I flew a Cessna 182 from Tulsa, Oklahoma to San Juan, Puerto Rico and the same plane from St. Croix, USVI to Mobile, Alabama using charts and a magnetic compass? I used a panel-mounted GPS as a back-up navigation aid.

True, I have taken only a few flying lessons so far but none of the local clubs planes have gps fitted at all (some people have their own personal units) but the planes themselves have none fitted at all

aussie 763624 with the grand total total of 6 hrs total flight hrs, all with instructors so far...

(certainly not enough to make me any kind of flying expert, I'm still on my L plates so to speak)

I had to laugh when I saw she dragged out the new cyclone center at Mackay. Considering over 3/4's of the town center is only a meter or less above sea level, its well overdue. The last major cyclone that went through, I stayed in place, but was prepared to evac if need to (had a choice of 4x4 that's capable of deep water crossings or if it got too deep for that, the boat was in the carport), unfortunately to get to a place that wasn't still in the same floodzone would require a drive or boat of over three kilometers

Although I still haven't seen any evidence of rising or falling sea levels at sea or in the river, contrary to her claims (my regular boat ramp being the indicator)
