I disagree,remember that half these people call them to buy their stuff,those old farts are probably the toughest people to buy from.I would love to have them come to my place and unload half my wife's crap that is sitting useless.

I have been watching this show since it started. Mike and Frank are down to earth guys who love what they do. They do not look down on the people they deal with. They seem to always come away with new friends and people that they truly enjoy meeting. They are in business to make money and
also help out people who would, on any other day, not have the money to pay bills or just have some extra spending cash
to use. They do not rip people off, if they don't want to sell, thats ok with them even if they want an item realy bad. They even up the price the person gives them if they think it is too low. I think maybe you should watch an entire show instead of judging them by the first five minutes of the show. In the future please do a little more research on something before you run off at the mouth about it and make yourself sound like a complete morron.

Wow thats pretty ridiculous. Has anyone here ever watched the show?? The supposed victims of this thievery are obviously hoarders. Mike and Frank find and restore pieces of history. If they didn't buy any of these historical items, they would just sit and rot along with all the other shit in old barns and buildings. And its not like they are putting a gun to their head and robbing people. Obviously these people want the money or they wouldn't sell it... right????

i agree with YOU. a lot of this stuff, damn, MOST of this stuff they are buying is just sitting there rotting away and would continue to do so. So what if they buy it for cheap and sell it for resale. That's their buisness. Better to get some money for it and put it in the hands of people that appreciate it and get it seen before it turns to dust than have it never seen. I like this show. I love seeing these pieces of Americana. It's their buisness. These people always have the option to say "NO" if they want when it comes to selling there stuff.

Its not about making a profit on old junk lying around that would rot anyway. It is about showing respect for individuals and not taking advantage of them or ripping them off. Are you KIDDING me?? I have watched this show a few times and these guys have ALWAYs been very respectfull and curtious. Most of the stuff they buy would just end up rusting to nothing had they not bought them and they are buying from folks that would have just let it sit!! It would be like if someone came to your house and offered to buy your weeds out of your yard!! Plus they offer good prices considering they still have to take the time to clean up or fix what they buy before selling them.

agreed the original owners of the items know what they have and made money. i find the pickers to be respectful. a item is only worth what someone is willing to buy or sell it for.

It is obvious that you do not subscribe to capitalism. These guys do not rip people off, they don't steal from or take advantage of the eldery, they are business men. They buy low and sell high that's capitalism, that's how they make their living.

I've never seen them force anyone to sell anything they had. I have seen them offer more than what the seller originally aksed for. Why would you suggest they are screwing people over is beyond me. The stuff they buy has been sitting around for years often covered in dirt, vines, weeds, dust and dirt that has been neglected for years if not decades. These guys make an offer to purchase these items and the seller always has the right to decline their offer and they have at times.

I know you believe in redistribution of wealth. I know by the tone of your comments you believe in socialism and people make too much money while others don't make enough so we take from those that make "too much profit" and give it to those that don't make enough.

I'd be interested to find out your answer to this. Let's say the guys from American Picker came to your house and offered you $500.00 for an item you know was only worth $10.00, would you tell them that their offer was too high?

Well if you had something like that, do you know who you would sell it to? Would you take all the time and money to find someone to buy it? And thats top dollar. They don't get no where near what they say its worth. Its like going to a car dealership and they want 30k for a car, you can walk away with that vehicle for 23k. These people are making a living. If they didn't make a profit, there would be nothing about them. If y'all think thats robbery, then you can't have anything. You guys are on computers or phones right now that cost 1000-2000 dollars or whatever. And the production price of the stuff is like 150 bucks. But its the process. The workers involved, the labor, the expensenses, the price to ship, etc. etc., that makes that final retail price to 1000 bucks. If they showed how every company worked on tv, no one would buy anything anymore.

As long as they are paying a fair price, as set by the owner, then they are not being unreasonable. As a former Metrologist - there was a joke that ran around during my Active duty time to help teach people what we do and go through to get experience to do the job.

"This old couple come in with a piece of equipment, out of the hundreds of thousands we get tasked to work on, that isn't working and ask the Metrologist to fix it. The Metrologist looks at it, reaches in his pocket and adjust one screw adjustment then Ta Dum! It's fixed. The Metrologist then goes - that will be $80.00 please. The old couple goes - $80??? I could of adjusted that myself!!! The Metrologist goes - it was only $5 for the actually adjusting of the screw adjustment, but it was $75 for "knowing" what screw to turn.

Some of you whiney morons don't take in account for is the time and money it takes to learn what is of value. What they invested to get that experience to know what is what.

That show is causing more hostility and racism in comparison to American Pickers "violating the spirit of our elder generation." Give me a break and go get a passifier.

Wow, I dodn't even know where to start. I can see that the majority of people posting here have way too much time on their hands, have never seen the show, have never been to a garage or estate sale, can't grasp the concept of buying and selling, aren't that sharp and are so miserable that they have to piss and moan about everything.

If anyone has watched this, in my opinion, spectacular program, they would see that the guys are doing what many of us do every summer...check out other peoples junk. The big difference is that they are finding things to turn around to collectors and auctions.

Many times the profit they make on pieces are really not that great. Also, a great number of things they pick are pretty much worthless to 90% of the people on the planet. For example; an old rusted out bike frame is worth nothing, unless someone happens to collect them...in that case it has value to them and no one else and they are willig to pay for it.
Many of the people they buy from are tickled pink to meet others that appreciate what they collect and are more than happy to sell or if not, they're just happy to tell the story.

Also, they find a things that haven't been seen in decades. Pieces that would be forever lost to time are brought back to life for people to enjoy and cherish.

So, I guess the bottom line is... You folks need to get your collective heads out of your collective asses and get a life.

IRS going after Junk collectors from History Network
Washington(API)- Obama administration officials with the IRS have confirmed the Internal Revenue Service has a lawsuit pending, for failure to pay taxes and provide IRS Form 1099 for payment to persons who they purchased items from on their television show "American Pickers". Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz from the "American Pickers" television series could not comment, while litigations are underway. When contacted from the Washington Post, General Electric, who owns the History Television Network provided the following statement. " General Electric and its subsidiaries are currently in discussions to resolve this issue to the benefit of all concerned parties"
Also named in the lawsuit were Mike Wolfe's business www.antiquearcheology.com, Frank Fritz's www.frankfritzfinds.com, and their female costar Danielle Cushman. Ms. Cushman has been charged with accessory to tax evasion, falsifying receipts and money laundering. The people who sold items are also under investigation for failure to report income over $500,00.

I have had to clean out my parents house and then my brother passed away and we got all his stuff too. now I have to get rid of it if I could get these guy to come to our place I would rool out the red carpet for them. Now I'm stuck selling all the stuff on ebay pennies on the dollar. At least thoes guys give them 1/2 of what it is worth.

First of all, nobody else is gonna buy the stuff, if the seller wants more money for something then the seller must do the leg work, do research and find out what it can sell for, or take it to auction. all these guys are doing is buying stuff that the sellers arent using! to be honest most of the people they pick from are hoarders!!! when my moms friend passed away it was a nightmare having to go thru everything, and you do have to go thru everything cuz you dont want to just toss away something of value, so now my friend has a basement full of stuff that not only was her mom not doing anything with but now she isnt doing anything with. At least these picker guys are selling these items to someone that would actually make use of the stuff.
