Now don't throw in marriage issues in this topic, these are just the facts. A child who is blessed to be raised by TWO PARENTS OF OPPOSITE SEX IN THE HOUSE HOLD, will grow up PROPERALLY. Ex: My nephew's father took off when he was a baby. (didn't want to deal with being a dad), so my nephew grew up 18 years in an ALL WOMAN HOUSEHOLD. Now he is Feminane and just announced he's gay???? The other aspects of child rearing, the social aspects need to have balance too. That is one of the huge pitfalls of single parent families, whether through divorce or choice of an unwed motherhood. But a child in a single parent family has 1/2 of the balance, a child with 2 moms or 2 dads gets a double dose of one side, twice as unballanced. Well, not exaclty because one partner might have normal traits for his gender while the other has opposite traits. But I still see it as more unballanced than a mom/dad/child relationship

That is not true at all. One in either sex is more masculine and one more fem. Mom/Dad/Child Relationship sure, in a perfect world, but this is far from perfect. Everyone needs to be loved. It does not matter if its a single mom, a single dad, a violent straight couple, two men, two women, or a grandmother. Teach children love, respect, and compassion and this world would be far better than it is today.

Another slippery slope

Allowing one religion to define our country that is the land of many... now there is some lubed up cucumber. or a slippery slope.

This kind of thinking is what is turning American males into limp wristed metrosexuals. They need balance. Love AND discipline which comes from a strong male role model. They need to be allowed to fail and pick themselves up. To get bumps and bruises. To be shown that hard work is good and rewarding. And to have a spine and be self sufficient.

Realizing this is a "gay marriage" thread, it has been brought out elsewhere here that a male role model is imperative for a child’s success and development. Society has made it too easy and convenient for the fathers to bail or mother to walk away because of whatever selfish reason. And it has made it practically criminal for a child to experience any ills in this world.

When our kids were young my wife and I argued heatedly about discipline and appropriate rules for them. A counselor told us that is was good for the kids to 'play' us, to go to the one they thought suited their immediate needs better. Maybe I would let them visit friends and she would give them snacks. Whatever. Anyway she said the kids learned a lesson on how to get what they need, a talent that would serve them in adulthood.

I didn't completely agree, but it is a point that illustrates balance.
