You know damn well that the creed is sort of comparable to The preamble to the constitution of the United states. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70389926 You also know likewise that the universal Catholic church has many more laws and doctrines not represented in the creed, just as the US has many more statute and doctrines not represented in the constitution. Op I know that to attack an institution you must understand what they stand-what is there universal belief- everything is just interpret ion! Ahh I see the problem clearly. Your self identity is so wrapped up in the organization that you interpret an attack on that organization as an attack on you. The problem is not Catholic people Op. It's the organization. So let me get this straight you can't find anything in their central document to criticize? Yeah, seriously what is your point. I mean if you're going to make a thread like this, then take item by item and why you disagree with it. You're thread makes no sense whatsoever. |
Monotheism User ID: 26845286 Sweden 09/27/2015 10:12 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed is more relevant since the holy spirit hadn't yet been promoted to person and co-equal God in the original Nicene Creed. Those creeds also applies to Protestants and pretty much any trinitarian denomination. Pledging allegiance to the mother church they call harlot. |

I was raised Lutheran and we were made to recite a version of it. I had a problem with being forced to recite things in general, I do not feel it is from the heart then. There are several versions of Niceene Creed. The first part I had the problem with was God of God Light of Light. Are they saying he is god of light? What exactly does that mean anyways, makes no sense. The other part I had a problem with was: I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. Now in later years they took the Catholic out in some protestant churches, however, the meaning is still there. Personally, I don't put my faith in any church. We are not to put our faith in the church, but in God himself. |

The Nicene Creed I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. |
