Turtle Flower (OP) User ID: 73168378 United States 11/18/2018 04:20 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | People talk about age all the time, fearing it, or accepting it, but truly not understanding the experience of aging. Quoting: Turtle Flower I found this site in 2007, I was new to the Internets because I had been busy with life, and just started my writing career, and I learned so much - so many things I had to re-think, and study. I wish I'd had all y'all when my son passed on 11-9-02, I wish I'd been here on 9-11-01, but I wasn't - I was working 50-60 hour weeks. I'm 53 today, still the same weird kid I was at 13yo, still the mess I was at 23yo, still the same struggling woman at 33yo, still the survivor at 43yo, and now I'm just the same as I ever was, struggling, odd, and weird at 53. On a good note, I'm relatively healthy (on no prescriptions), my hair is still mostly blonde (even though I've wanted gray since I was 20), and I can walk without a limp despite the clubbed foot that every doctor I have seen wants to cut. And the only advice I want to give is that we stay the same, personality wise, whatever we were born into continues, and young folks looking for age and wisdom don't understand that you are, and we are, the same as we ever were. Happy birthday to me! Some turtles live a long, long time. Happy Birthday! Hope its a good one. I'm 55 and about the same as you. I was born with both clubbed feet but as a baby my parents had it corrected and I spent many of the first years of my life in casts and braces.I went my whole life after that without a single problem with my feet till this July when I twisted my ankle in the lawn. It seems like its taking forever to heal and causes me to limp.I hope it eventually heals completely.I consider myself pretty fortunate to be able to have walked all those years without any problems though.Still healthy like you without meds, and weird, lol. May we conitinue to be weird and healthy for many more years! Turmeric and dandelion tea has helped a lot. Are you a musician by the way? Weird question I know, but I know so many double clubbed feet musicians who are drummers or bass players, it was weird to discover. I played drums for a while - stand up drummer. Always have to ask No, not much a musician here.I already take tumeric along with lots of healthy vitamins and herbal supplements as I'm a healthtard when it comes to that stuff.I'm female so I'm thinking its my age and maybe osteoporosis setting in which might be slowing things down. I am female as well, and honestly it's rare to meet a double female club footer, mostly I know are men. Drummers, and bass players. Perhaps because I'm in a musician family, of sorts I did the stand up drumming thing for a while, I used the club foot as a tripod, lol, to keep me standing. Four CDs, countless gigs, and some national TV, before I realized my natural talents are sitting in a chair in writing novels Wouldn't take those years away, though, and feel blessed by them. tiger1 User ID: 76712081 United States 11/18/2018 05:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!! :) Turtles are really good pets ! Get yourself one, if you want to ! I have had a lot of pet turtles in my lifetime, but the best was my snapper, Sammy ! Sammy loved having the top of his head scratched !I had found him wandering around the neighborhood many years ago. He had obviously been someones pet, as he was people friendly. He was very tame, and I used to take him for walks around the neighborhood. I used a dog leash, and a harness that I customized just for him. I had him for many years, but when my oldest was starting to walk, I was concerned that she just might get bit, as Sammy was not used to kids, so I let Sammy go at a local river. I fed him nothing but natural foods he would have eaten in the wild, all the years I had him, so the transition was easy. I did cry as he swam away, after I put him on the bank of the river. He went to the waters edge, and then took off swimming. I did hang around for a while to see if he would come back, just in case, but he did not. Praise God from Whom all Blessings flow !!! |
