Yes, it does. I'm sure the FDA is actively working for measures to make it illegal.

Baking soda on wasp sting.

Quick, too.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 63137158

Works great for removing gas and oil from your hands and clothes with dish soap too, rub it in well before adding water. Sugar instead of baking soda for your hands if you have wounds, the soda burns but the sugar does not remove gas smell as well as the soda.

I got covered in a taring mishap not long ago and had to wash all over with gas to remove the tar. Then scrub down with the baking soda to remove the gas smell.

Homemade Penetrating Oil ( Better than any store bought)

Big Eds Bore cleaner / penetrating oil

The April/May 2007 edition of Machinist's Workshop did a test of penetrating oils where they measured the force required to loosen rusty test devices. Buy the issue if you want to see how they did the test. The results reported were interesting. The lower the number of pounds the better. Mighty interesting results for simple > acetone and tranny fluid!

> Penetrating oil . Average load .. Price per fluid ounce
> None .................. 516 pounds .
> WD-40 .............. 238 pounds ... $0.25
> PB Blaster ......... 214 pounds .. $0.35
> Liquid Wrench ... 127 pounds .. $0.21
> Kano Kroil ........ 106 pounds .. $0.75
> ATF-Acetone mix.. 53 pounds .. $0.10

> The ATF-Acetone mix was a 50/50 mix (1 to 1 ratio)."

Just mix Auto Trans fluid and Acetone in a 50:50 mix, thats it.

works great

Re: Stuff that works thread! Good stuff! Bring more!
When there was all that scare about bird flu some 12 years or so ago, there was a company that manufactured something I think was called Vira-38...completely black elderberry based.

Almost 'in a flash' their website went down, while sites talking about it went hidden.

Luckily, I had copied the info, and started buying Sambucus.

Soon, Tamiflu was everywhere in the news, despite the virus having mutated. Stockpiles of it were everywhere...yet, the bird flu never went global.

Forward all these years later, Tamiflu stockpiles continue to be prescribed for ANY flu, even though it was long ago proven to not be effective for anything other than H1N1 (?).

_____
So what is in VIRA-38? LUV TO KNOW!

_____
 Quoting: Giselle22

So...in response to your query, I've tried to find anything remaining about this product, first seen in 2005?

It was an Interesting 'redux for me, after so many years...especially because no site I came across (such as the following) mentioned elderberry at all:

[link to effectmeasure.blogspot.com]

Silly me.

I then added 'elderberry' into the search engine --finding a few, like this next one, which, surprisingly, is a PATENT in 2006 for Vira-38...that appears to be the usurpation of Vira-38 by a different entity. Hmm.

Accordingly, the formulas for Vira 38 products are as follows:

Vira 38

One does is 10 ml
Elderberry 4.0 g 40%
Echinacea 1.0 g 10%
Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) 1.0 g 10%
Theaflavine (TF) 1.0 g 10%
N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC) 1.0 g 10%
Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) 1.0 g 10%
FluStat
Per 10 m1
EGCG 2.0 g
TF 1.0 g
NAC 1.0 g
ALA 1.0 g
....(seen at the end)...

...It will thus be seen that the objects of the present invention have been fully and effectively accomplished. It embodiments have been shown and described for the purposes of illustrating the functional and structural principles of the present invention and is subject to change without departure from such principles. Therefore, this invention includes all modifications encompassed within the spirit and scope of the following claims.

[link to patents.google.com (secure)]

AND, in that SAME goog search...

...which makes me REALLY smile, I found these:

Thread: LETS POST OUR FLU CURES HERE (Page 2)

Vira 38 contains compounds with a broad spectrum anti-viral, cytokine regulating, and immune system enhancing effects.

The anti-viral components are designed to disrupt the influenza viral life cycle at different stages -binding, uncoating, replication and release.

One of the anti-viral components is v38 AMF-1 which has been shown to inhibit infections from Type A influenza, SARS virus, Avian influenza virus, Staphylococcus aureus, and Streptococcus pneumoniae (the two bacteria primarily responsible for secondary infections seen in influenza).

The cytokine modulating components are designed to normalize dysregulated cytokine networks so the cytokines can responds quickly and appropriately to viral assaults. The immune system activating components are designed to raise the level and optimize the activity of the immune system.

Thread: LETS POST OUR FLU CURES HERE

-----

That's as far as I can go tonight, to answer your question. However...seeing that GLP had it covered back then (even before my time) is something to take into consideration.

Ha!

Hope that helped explain what I was getting at!

Our 'small' glp world, eh?

hugs

DuPont Silicone with Teflon spray.

I use it on guns to prevent rust. Good bore cleaner too.

My Ruger LCP .380 spends the summers in a sweaty pocket.
The blued slide is 4 yrs. rust free. I clean it and re silicone it monthly or so. Leave it wetted over night the dry it off and UR good to go. Watch it around optics, It'll FUBAR the lenses. Just spray it on a cleaning patch and wipe it on.
