What a couple of days TG! Sounds like you know more than the electrician. You lost me at wiring the router to the generator.another do

Glad you did save water bottles, but if I were you I would just stay at the farm for a few days till that mess is worked out. I am really glad that an actual electrician is gonna come fix it, and hopefully he checks what the other guy did, I would have been up all night too.

Nines tell TB hello for me too. If you guys go out for drinks, have one for me. Probably should have two or three for TG after the past few days shes had. That should make you both nice and trashed.

I havent heard or seen Tauranga lately either. Someone said that the CME's were pounding the southern hemisphere.

Yes, hearing from my daughter was a big relief. They are having a good time. They went to Amicoloca (sp) falls today and she said that her legs felt like they were going to fall off.

All the neighbors came over last night and at different points today and introduced themselves, so that was nice. She has never been there before so she didnt know them, just "of" them.

She also only saw the before pictures when we first bought the place, she hadnt seen it all finished.

She was very cute, she said it felt like home, (we brought alot of our furniture and decor up there). Tomorrow they are ziplining, we were going to do that when we were up there for the summer, but I was weeding the lilies on the side of the house and became thanksgiving for every friggin chigger in Georgia! At that point the last thing I wanted was to go zipping thru trees in the forest full of other chiggers.

Flavapor ~ I have a question about your skin care products. I have rosacea and it really sucks sometimes. Any ideas or secrets?
 Quoting: Southern OR

If I were you, I would make a mixture of ultra fine epsom salt and vit k,a,c . Use sweet almond or grapeseed oil as a carrier for it, use it as a cleanser, you will probably not need to moisturize after it, but if you want to or feel you do, mix the vits, almond/grapeseed oil and use that. You can add carrot oil and evening primrose too if you want, but its more expensive. I would make a night serum out of those two and the vitamins, you wont need more than 4 or 5 drops on your face so a little will go a long way.

If you dont have grapeseed oil you could use extra virgin olive oil, but the grapeseed, or even almond oil is lighter, especially for the face.

You can also crush some aspirin and mix it with some apple cider vinegar to make a paste and use it as a mask.
You could also just put some apple cider vinegar on a cotton ball and use it like a toner.

I would do these at different times of the day to see if any give any immediate relief, you would know which one, but I think a routine would be good.

In addition, believe it or not eating 2 raw carrots a day should also help. It will take about 3 weeks for the vit A to build up in your system and a multi vit supplement loaded with B's and A and C, although the raw carrot seems to work better than the supplements.

Also spices tend to increase flare ups, and you just said you put curry on alot of stuff, it could be the cause of some of it.

Try to get your diet more alkaline for a month and cut out spices, not herbs just spices, eat the raw carrots. You can drink the apple cider vinegar, add some honey and take a few tbsp a day, it will get you alkaline quicker and keep you there. Try to get just below 6.0. It will kill any bacteria if you can keep it there. for at least 4 days.

Of course if you read this thread, you would know that apple cider vinegar is my cure all, but hey, it works for me and there is clinical documentation that bacterial and viral spores cant live in an alkaline environment.

Let me know what you decide to try and if it works.

Thanks for the info. I've been off for a few days - had to have one of my back teeth crowned (the temp crown is on and the permanent one will be ready next week). Nothing like "a bit of discomfort" and $1000 to the dentist. Ya, the curry could be an issue. I like the vinegar idea, I do believe it works for tons of stuff. I'm going to try it like a toner and also try the mask with aspirin. I'll also experiment with making some sort of grapeseed oil cleanser. I have the oil and the epsom salt on hand so will give it a try.

Good! Dose up on vit A, and if you like carrots cant hurt to eat the two a day. Some people swear by it, but said it took 3 weeks to notice a difference.

Hi, everyone! I gave up on big bro to get my computer up and running, so I did it myself and prayed REAL hard!! Mom's modem SAYS she has wireless, but it wouldn't connect. We bought a USB cord before I left, so I plugged that in and hoped for the best. NOW, I have to get used to youngest son's netbook! Stuff is just enough different! Anyway, I'm back. Now I have to figure out the quirks! See ya all soon.

Haha. Yeah, some good times at the drive in, huh? LOL. It IS hard getting used to a laptop isn't it. Sure beats nothing though.

Had the window open just a crack to get some nice fresh, warm air and the howling sound was horrible. Now that I've closed the windows, I can see the tree branches waving and an occasional scraping of the branches against the window, but can only actually hear it once in a while. Going to poke my head out the back door and see if it's still bad.

Oh man, that totally sucks! Glad the phone was on silent. The wind has died down a lot. Only an occasional big gust now. Steady, but not bad except for gusts. Surprised you haven't yet got that one that had the high strong winds. That part doesn't last long. Maybe it'll blow over. It's only a watch so far, not a warning. Maybe it'll stay north.

Yeah, if it blows, you better get offline. Don't want to be blamed for the messing up something at the house because you were online. LOL.

Think I'm going to get off. Have a few more things to do before bedtime, and know it's hard for you to type anyway. If you need anything, just call or text!

You guys are all so creative!
We had 4 inches of snow here today. I'm tired of guessing at what time of year it's supposed to be...
Got my greenhouse done. I'm anxious to get started in there...maybe when the snow melts off the roof panels..

Hi, everyone! Flav, is your website up yet? If it is e-mail it to me. I've got to see this stuff. It sounds wonderful. Now that I'm in humidity land again, my skin is greasing out!!! Yick! Shades of my teenage years! I can't get over the weather here. In the 70's in March...it's NUTS!!!

Mom goes in tomorrow am for the knee scope. We have to be there by 6:30. I'm still on central time. That's 4:30 for me! Figures we'd change for DST right after I got here!

I've seen most of my nephews, just one more and my niece yet. She's in the school musical with my cousin's son next weekend, so I'm going to the high school production of Annie Get Your Gun. Got to hold the new babies already, too.

I should be able to check back in tomorrow night. I'm hopping quite a bit just now. Just now, looking for dad's AWOL cane! We think he left it in the shed this afternoon. It's probably with his pen he lost out in the yard today. Guys...they're breaking my heart! It's better and it's worse. I just don't know what to do about it yet.

The only gardening I'll be doing is weeding mom's one flower box and one bed. She doesn't want anything extra 'cause she isn't sure of taking care of it after I leave. She said last year she put silk geraniums in the beds. I asked her if she wanted some in pots and she said no. So...I have to do what she wants. Neither of us likes it. Anyway, I miss talking to you all. Hopefully, I can catch up with you all soon. IF I can get the hang of this danged ole netbook!!! I'm just SO graceful! See ya in the daylight!

Is this the page to vent? I sure hope so. Let's just start with parenting sucks....sucks giant donkey balls in fact. We had to take the car (that we bought) away from our 18 year old daughter today. Evidently she has not been attending school regularly....big no no in our house. We told her, miss class then the car goes away. Now it's a huge surprise that we followed through! We are thinking it's gone until report cards come out and she will only get it back with perfect attendance until then (about another month or so). You would have thought we told her she had to solve world hunger...

Wow you have been busy. Sounds like you are having plenty of fun in between your obligations! No the site isnt up yet, I gave him a bunch of stuff last week, I am hoping its up and running soon, alot of people are asking.

My dad called today to tell me it was in the mid seventies there (upstate NY) today. I could hear him doing back flips thru the phone!

Now for the bad news, my brother who is in the national guard, is in Mississippi (training for 8 wks) is being shipped out at the end of the month. He was supposed to go to Kuwait for 18 months, but is now going to Afghanistan. Please keep him in your prayers. We are not to happy about that. He is coming to visit me the last week of March, he doesnt want to go back home to NY and upset his kids. They are only 6 and 10, it was an emotional goodbye.

As for my garden, I think I am going to need to replant in certain spots. One entire row didnt sprout anything, it was right next to the sprinkler head that broke that first week, and I think it washed the seeds away or drown them. My loofah plants have popped thru and I am excited about them.

TB I will say a prayer for your moms speedy healing and sucussful surgery. Keep us posted. And by the way, you seem to be doing pretty good with that notebook.

Hey, Southern OR. Vent away, kiddo. We all do here and thankfully, we don't get the trolls giving us a hassle. Stick to your guns. School is just too d-mned important. There are too many uneducated idiots working a mickie d's as it is!

Is the 18 yr. old in high school or college? My youngest son goes to community college and has to survive the embarassment of mom or dad giving him a ride. Back and forth to work too. He's working to pay for school and can't afford a car. We're still waiting to get the pick up fixed, but I don't think it will be in time for him to use before he goes to university this fall. Truck will NOT be going with him. Our 2 older kids had to suffer in similar manners, too! IF they had something to drive, it was my ancient mini-van! Oh, the ultimate embarassment! Kids can totally suck, but you have to admit, we all love them!

I know it doesn't help right now. Most of us have already been through this. All I can tell you is...this too shall pass. You love them, they love you, even if it doesn't seem like it now. Having a girl and 2 boys, all 20 something, sometimes it seems like hormonal teenagers on steriods! It does even out eventually, though.

Hope it helps. What really helps me is this thread, this group of people. Venting is not only allowed, it's encouraged! The rest will see your post soon and add (hopefully better) advice for you. Read it, use what will work for you and toss out the rest! That's the best part, I think!

Hey Flav. You don't see me backspacing and fighting with the touch pad! I MISS my mouse!! AND I DO NOT mean the rodent kind!! I think your garden sounds like it could grow kind of interesting! Sorry about your missing row.

I'm really sorry to hear about your brother (?). Senior moment, sorry. Lots of prayers sent and will send. When will it all stop? Been there with the kids, I can imagine. Prayers for the family too.

Thanks, guys, for being here. I better get to sleep for a bit. I'll keep you all posted. Promise.

I just want to survive it! She is a senior in high school. We bought the car with the agreement that she would pay 1/2 after high school. Told her weeks ago that her attendance was not acceptable. She is missing 2 or 3 classes every day. Told her the car would go away if she didn't have enough personal responsibility to get to school and stay there. The absences are either morning classes or after lunch. So she basically goes for 1/2 a day, either morning or afternoon. Now we are the evil ones for following through with what we said we would do if attendance did not improve. Told her school is her job and a boss does not let you decide when it's convenient to work. Thanks for the response...I really needed to vent. I will stick to my guns though. We have enough uneducated people out there, don't want to add our kid to the mix!

Good for you stick to your guns! I always follow thru on promises and threats. Thats one thing everyone can count on. I had to laugh at your "world hunger" part, sounds so familiar to me in the not to distant past.

My kids used to have a hissy fit and tell me I was such a horrible parent, and I used to tell them " I threw the book you came with out by accident". Thats a big joke to anyone who knows me, if its on my counters and I cant eat it, I throw it out! My pet peeve, cant help it. I am always picking up stuff and putting it where it goes or throwing it in a garbage can in the garage and then telling everyone to go retrieve their stuff and put it where it belongs before trash day.

Sounds like your daughter has a big case of senioritis. Its to bad they dont realize now that 5 or ten years from now they are going to look back and realize how great NOW is. They get to see all different friends all day, dont have to do any manual labor or disgusting type work, dont have to learn rocket science stuff, etc. '

I sure hope she does start to get back to classes, its only 3 months till she will be done, and it would suck to be in summer school or worse when all her friends will be gone!

Good luck with that problem, I'll send aspirin!

I understand your thoughts on the military thing. My nephew was in Afghanistan, my son in law and 2 nephews have been to Iraq. My son in law and 1 newphew are in South Korea right now. I have worried about South Korea the most. Awful close to Japan and the toxic winds. I wish your brother the best. Send him some soap, I hear they have really crappy soap over there.

He was in Iraq several years ago for 2 yrs, I believe he said he didnt need to shower cause he got sandblasted on a daily basis!

What he likes us to send the most is dried stuff for drinks. Iced tea mix, lemonade, etc. anything he can put in his water to make it different.

What bothers me most is the recent massacre of civilians by that marine. I think they are just gonna be hellbent to retaliate on Americans in any way they can.

We are really hoping she figures it out on her own. She loves working with the special ed students at school. She has been doing that since about 2nd grade but is now a peer tutor and special ed assistant at school. It is probably her calling and could lead to a great career. But it still does not excuse the rest of the behavior! High school was so hard but yet so easy. Hindsight 20/20

You guys are all so creative!
We had 4 inches of snow here today. I'm tired of guessing at what time of year it's supposed to be...
Got my greenhouse done. I'm anxious to get started in there...maybe when the snow melts off the roof panels..

Very true. Our kids graduate in early May here, and school ends at the end of May. I know most other places are June, but thats only 3 months.

More than likely the last month will be full of fun stuff for seniors.

That sounds like it could be a very rewarding career.

Every product that Flavapor has made has been incredible, TB. I love them so much! Greasing out. Hmpf. Much better than feeling that you climbed from a dehydration tray. LOL.

Wasn't it a beautiful day! Just one of those days that makes you thankful to be alive and enjoying it. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 74 and sunny!

It must be hard seeing and dealing with your parents right now. Hard to see them forgetting, losing things, and dealing with health issues. I hope your Dad's cane turns up soon and that your Mom does well with her knee. You're going to have your hands full when she gets home. Hope you're up to doing all you'll need to do and still care for yourself.

The netbook must really suck. I hate to think. Glad you have some communication though. It's not the same when we're not all here. 8)

 Quoting: Southern OR

"GOOD" parenting can suck, can't it? The fact that you care is real obvious. If you weren't a good parent, you wouldn't be dealing with these problems. You'd turn your head, allow it, or ignore it. I'd be willing to bet it hurts you as much or more than your daughter. Some day she'll be glad you cared enough to set limits and do what is best for her. Hugs to you! heart1
