"There is no serious symptoms of bird flu affected. The results of our medical team people just have the flu, "he says.
Even so, further Okie, health officials revealed to the village every day Plobangan to do counseling and direct examination. This is to anticipate the people infected with bird flu.

So which is it>? flu, fever and coughing.. or without fever? Here is the magic words no positive victims and there will not be, because they are all on tamiflu and wont be actually tested till they can be tested negative

Hi Treyfish.

And again our deep appreciation at your ferretting out what news you can with this Indonesian matter.

I have to agree with your comments, its not the best place in the world for reliable information from their authorities.

Though as you point out that everyone is being treated with Tamiflu, which will for the most part disguise any immediate issues.

If there has been such a huge outbreak affecting the human population then this would infer that the strain that they have there has transitioned to H2H transmission.

And, should that be the case then we will all know soon enough, or rather should I say far too late, as it will already be out of control through the denial and secrecy that eminates from this part of the world.

History will then be the judge of who made the best choices with the welfare of the entire global population.

Regrettably it will be too late for those repocussions to be reflected on.

Please continue to keep us in the loop as best you can Treyfish, its very much appreciated.

cheers

It appears that the CDC is doing some house work on the H3N2v matter and its apparent relationship to county fairs that has raised so many questions in recent times.

CDC study suggests many H3N2v cases may be missed
Robert Roos News Editor

Sep 21, 2012 (CIDRAP News) – An investigation of one of the first swine-origin H3N2 influenza cases detected in the United States in 2011 suggests that for each confirmed case, there may be many more that go undetected.

The investigation, triggered by a case related to a Pennsylvania fair in August 2011, revealed 3 confirmed cases, 4 probable cases, and 82 suspected cases of variant H3N2 (H3N2v), all of them in people who had attended the fair, according to a report published yesterday in Emerging Infectious Diseases.

More news here on the narcelepsy relationship to the GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) H1N1 vaccinations, this time from a French study into the issue, notably this study looks at the link in adults.

French study finds narcolepsy link to H1N1 vaccine in adults
Lisa Schnirring Staff Writer

Sep 21, 2012 (CIDRAP News) – French researchers have found a significant link between one 2009 H1N1 vaccine and narcolepsy in adults, a finding that is likely to prompt some countries to take a fresh look to see if adult cases have surfaced in the wake of pandemic vaccine campaigns.

The French findings are part of a larger investigation under way through the Vaccine Adverse Event Surveillance and Communication (VAESCO) Consortiu led and funded by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). The data are from a case-control study that was partially included yesterday in a detailed technical report from the ECDC that explored the vaccine-narcolepsy link in eight European countries, including some that didn't report the problem.

Full findings from the French case-control study appeared yesterday on the Web site of the French Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products (ANSM), a group that is similar to the US Food and Drug Administration.

Only one vaccine has been linked to the narcolepsy cases, Pandemrix, a GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) product that contains its AS03 adjuvant. The vaccine was not used in the United States during the 2009 H1N1 vaccine campaign, but several European countries used it alone or alongside other vaccine formulations. Canada and Brazil also used a very similar GSK pandemic vaccine containing the AS03 adjuvant.

Outbreak of new coronavirus - same family as SARS - has WHO on alert
Helen Branswell, Sunday, September 23, 2012 5:16 PM

The World Health Organization is keeping a close eye on a disease outbreak in Saudi Arabia caused by a virus in the same family as the one that caused SARS.

There have been two confirmed infections with the new coronavirus and tests results are pending on a third suspected case, according to media reports from the Middle East. Two of those three people have died.

While word of a coronavirus outbreak immediately brings SARS to mind, there is too little information at this point to say whether this is anything more than a blip on the viral radar.

Still, with pilgrims beginning to gather in Saudi Arabia for next month's Hajj, the public health community is on alert.

"As with any new virus, this is of concern to us and we're watching it very closely," WHO spokesperson Gregory Hartl said Sunday.

There are a large number of coronaviruses. Some infect animals, others infect birds and still others infect people. In humans, coronaviruses typically cause colds....

Novel Coronavirus infection in the United Kingdom

23 SEPTEMBER 2012
- On 22 September 2012, the United Kingdom (UK) informed WHO of a case of acute respiratory syndrome with renal failure with travel history to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and Qatar.

The case is a previously healthy, 49 year old male Qatari national that presented with symptoms on 3 September 2012 with travel history to the KSA prior to onset of illness. On 7 September he was admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU) in Doha, Qatar. On 11 September, he was transferred to the UK by air ambulance from Qatar. The Health Protection Agency of the UK (HPA) conducted laboratory testing and has confirmed the presence of a novel coronavirus .

Patient at London hospital has new virus found in Saudi Arabia
Posted on 09-24 at 07:26:40 CST
[As released by the UK's Health Protection Agency]

ACUTE RESPIRATORY ILLNESS ASSOCIATED WITH A NEW VIRUS IDENTIFIED IN THE UK

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) can confirm the diagnosis of one laboratory confirmed case of severe respiratory illness associated with a new type of coronavirus. The patient, who is from the Middle East and recently arrived in the UK, is receiving intensive care treatment in a London hospital.

In recent months, this new human coronavirus was also identified in a patient with acute respiratory illness in Saudi Arabia, who subsequently died.

Coronaviruses are causes of the common cold but can also include more severe illness, such as the virus responsible for SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome). This new virus, however, is different from any that have previously been identified in humans. Preliminary enquiries have revealed no evidence of illness in contacts of these two cases, including healthcare workers. Based on what we know about other coronaviruses, many of these contacts will already have passed the period when they could have caught the virus from the infected person.

We are also aware of a small numb [link to www.bnowire.com]

Experts said it was unclear how dangerous the virus is. "We don't know if this is going to turn into another SARS or if it will disappear into nothing," said Michael Osterholm, a flu expert at the University of Minnesota. He said it was crucial to determine the ratio of severe to mild cases.

Osterholm also said more information was needed on how the virus is spread — whether it's spread as easily as a common cold or, as in the case of SARS, mostly through close contact and via specific medical procedures like a lung intubation.

He said it was worrying that there had been at least one death from the new virus.

"You don't die from the common cold," he said. "This gives us reason to think it might be more like SARS." The SARS virus was particularly deadly and killed about 10 percent of the people it infected...

"We don't know if this virus causes mild diseases also," says Hartl. "We don't know if this is two out of two cases or two out of 2 million (which might include a lot of mild cases)." The WHO has alerted physicians around the world to keep an eye out for more cases.

Doctors also don't know the source of the infection. A lot of disease detective work is required to further understand where these patients have been, may have eaten or any other behavior that might provide clues. In 2002, the source of the outbreak was linked to a ferret-like animal called a civet cat, but researchers now believe a horseshoe bat may have been the original source.

Two Dutch travellers were infected with oseltamivir-resistant influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 viruses with an H275Y neuraminidase substitution in early August 2012. Both cases were probably infected during separate holidays at the Catalonian coast (Spain). No epidemiological connection between the two cases was found, and neither of them was treated with oseltamivir before specimen collection. Genetic analysis of the neuraminidase gene revealed the presence of previously described permissive mutations that may increase the likelihood of such strains emerging and spreading widely.

Yet another pig flu virus infects people

This article covers the current swine flu state and within this article there is this comment in the last paragraph regarding this years flu vaccine.

The underlined line is of real importance as it finally answers the question we have been seeking here as to whether this years vaccine has protection against those newer viruses that emerged from those county fairs in the US.

This of course now means that any of these viruses have a complete free hand to spread and infect without impediment during the next flu season.

The CDC estimates that anywhere between 3,000 to 49,000 people a year die from flu in the United States. A lot depends on the strains circulating. CDC recommends that everyone get vaccinated against influenza every year. The vaccine formula usually changes a little bit each year to match the most common flu strains, although this year's flu vaccine is not formulated to protect against the newly discovered pig flu viruses H1N1v, H1N2v or H3N2v.

Thanks to Treyfish and our UK anon posters for your posts, especially regarding the emergence of this totally new coronavirus emerging from Saudi Arabia.

This one has surfaced in a most unexpected manner, definately without warning and though it is very early days the comments from the experts should be headed.

Though there have been some unfortunate deaths attributed to this new virus, as stated, we dont know if there have been any others that have not been detected because they were milder cases and didnt require greater attention.

Also, so far, it appears that this bug isnt all that infectous to humans at this point in time, lets hope that these are isolated cases and that there wont be any greater spread.

I am concerned that both cases have emerged from the same region and at different times.

This would seem to suggest that there is some sort of resevoir for it in Saudi Arabia, so lets hope that our medicos can quickly discover that source and eliminate it.

With approaching religous celebrations attracting millions of pilgrims into this region, it is a melting pot of opportunities for all types of viruses to find hosts in which there can be any number of reassortments of viruses and their spread to all points of the globe in a short timeframe makes the possibility of pandemic outbreaks a possibolity, as does any significant gathering of people in the same place at the same time does.

What we dont need is any type of increase of viral load in the greater comunity, as this only helps to provide further opportunities for those viruses to mutate.

'Sars' patient fights for life at St Thomas' after flying into London from Qatar
25 September 2012

The London hospital treating a man struck down by an illness similar to Sars has been named as St Thomas’.

Experts at the Lambeth hospital, which specialises in respiratory illnesses, have put him in isolation and are treating him by oxygenating his blood outside his body.

The 49-year-old patient who was born in Qatar caught the illness in Saudi Arabia and travelled by air ambulance for treatment in the UK.

He is the second person confirmed with the coronavirus, which has been likened to the Sars virus that killed hundreds of people in 2002.

The first case was a 60-year-old man in Saudi Arabia who died in July. The two patients never met. The Health Protection Agency is also investigating a third possible case.

Specialists at St Thomas’ are using a procedure known as extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) treatment...

This next article tells of reaserch done in British Columbia, that has found the people who had the annual flu vaccination also had an increased risk of being infected by Swine Flu, clearly indicating that these flu vaccinations had not been adequately tested before their public release.

(NaturalNews) New information has emerged concerning the Great Swine Flu Hoax of 2009 and the mass vaccination hysteria that accompanied it. As it turns out, the seasonal influenza vaccine that was pushed on everyone as an added preventive measure against H1N1 appears to have been responsible for actually inducing more cases of H1N1 infection, this according to shocking new data procured by an influenza expert at Canada's B.C. Centre for Disease Control.

Dr. Danuta Skowronski from the Canadian equivalent of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently observed as part of a comprehensive analysis that individuals who received an annual flu shot during the 2008-09 winter season had a disproportionately higher risk of developing H1N1 infection than individuals who were not vaccinated. Confirming earlier suspicions, Dr. Skowronski and her colleagues observed after recreating the phenomenon in a group of ferrets that the annual flu shot from that year was definitively linked to higher rates of H1N1 infection.

The discovery of a deadly H1N2 virus in Korea recently is the subject of this next extract.

Its worth noting that this extract draws attention to the close relationship with other freely circulating flu strains in the US and elsewhere.

Abstract
Efficient worldwide swine surveillance for influenza A viruses is urgently needed; the emergence of a novel reassortant pandemic H1N1 (pH1N1) virus in 2009 demonstrated that swine can be the direct source of pandemic influenza and that the pandemic potential of viruses prevalent in swine populations must be monitored. We used the ferret model to assess the pathogenicity and transmissibility of predominant Korean triple-reassortant swine (TRSw) H1N2 and H3N2 influenza viruses genetically related to North American strains. Although most of the TRSw viruses were moderately pathogenic, one [A/Swine/Korea/1204/2009; Sw/1204 (H1N2)] was virulent in ferrets, causing death within 10 d of inoculation, and was efficiently transmitted to naive contact ferrets via respiratory droplets.

There has been a fresh report of an H1N1 case infecting a person in Canada.

Officials are playing this case very close to the chest and are concealing the exact location of the patient.

Also, at this point in time efforts are being made to establish exactly how this person has come into contact with this virus, which means that its source is currently unidentified.

More information here on the new "SARS" like virus that has just emerged in Saudi Arabia.

Apparently it differs from SARS in as much as this new virus causes renal failure, where until very late in the previous SARS outbreak, this had not been charasteric of the SARS virus.

He is now in a critical condition at Guy's and St Thomas' hospital in London.

"The patient, who has been isolated, is receiving extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (Ecmo) treatment, which delivers oxygen to the blood outside the body when the lungs are not able to," the hospital said in a statement.

Britain's Health Protection Agency also said the virus was from the same family as SARS but said it was different to any previously identified in humans, adding that it caused "acute respiratory illness".

WHO spokesman Gregory Haertl stressed that the new virus was not SARS itself, pointing out that what sets the new virus apart was that it caused rapid kidney failure.

Further comments:

Though this thread is concerned with Flu viruses, this development could have far reaching impacts just as deadly as any pandemic Influenza viruses.

Because of this fact it would seem prudent for us to keep an eye on this virus at least for the present to see if it develops into a serious threat to the worlds population.

So far little is known of this virus, but its emergence at a time when we are also witnessing an unprecedented emergence in a variety of novel flu viruses, is a trend that must be worth the time to follow.

At present, there is not much more than passing concern in relation to the emergence of so many differing flu viruses, probably because no individual virus has or is causing any notable nuisance to humans, but just how long before we will be witnessing a rapid spread and infection rate with one or more of these viruses at the same time and at any number of regions around the globe?

They are diverse in type and diverse in their spread around the world, but they are all there and active, the right conditions and at any time any number of them could develop into outbreaks that could seriously challenge our health protection authorities and overwhelm health services on several levels all at once, which could lead to such confusing and competing interests that genuine havoc could ensue.

To me this is the trogan hourse that I believe we are witnessing here and is daily becoming a growing and broadening threat to us all.

Vitamin D . . . begin now and take 2,000 units of Vit D daily.

Written by an M.D. in Great Britain

A group of scientists from UCLA published a remarkable paper in the prestigious journal, Nature. The UCLA group confirmed two other recent studies, showing that a naturally occurring steroid hormone - a hormone most of us take for granted, VITAMIN D3, was, in effect, a potent antibiotic. Instead of directly killing bacteria and viruses, the steroid hormone under question increases the body's production of a remarkable class of proteins, called antimicrobial peptides. The 200 known antimicrobial peptides directly and rapidly destroy the cell walls of bacteria, fungi, and viruses, including the influenza virus, and play a key role in keeping the lungs free of infection. The steroid hormone that showed these remarkable antibiotic properties was plain old vitamin D3.

All of the patients on my ward had been taking 2,000 units of vitamin D3 every day for several months or longer. Could that be the reason none of my patients caught the flu? I then contacted Professors Reinhold Vieth and Ed Giovannucci and told them of my observations. They immediately advised me to collect data from all the patients in the hospital on 2,000 units of vitamin D3, as this was encouraging news. Four years ago, I became convinced that vitamin D3 was unique in the vitamin world by virtue of three facts. First, it's the only known precursor of a potent steroid hormone, calcitriol, or activated vitamin D3. Most other vitamins are antioxidants or co-factors in enzyme reactions. Activated vitamin D3 - like all steroid hormones - damasks the genome, turning protein production on and off, as your body requires. That is, vitamin D3 regulates genetic expression in hundreds of tissues throughout your body. This means it has as many potential mechanisms of action as genes it damasks.

If the flu hits increase Vitamin D3 to 4,000 or more I.U. daily during the entire illness..

VITAMIN C . . . begin now to take 1,000 mg to 3,000 mg. daily

If hit with the flu stop all IRON supplements and immediately begin MEGA DOSE of Vitamin C. This is urgent as the flu literally destroys body store of Vitamin C leading to possible scurvy like symptoms and death.
Take 3,000 milligrams which is 3 GRAMS immediately and then follow the protocol a few lines down. The glandular form of Vit C can be mixed in water.
WHY you need Mega doses of Vit C.
How does the Swine/AvianHuman Flu do its damage? Birds (or humans if the virus mutates spontaneously - or is mutated in a lab) die because the H5N1 virus depletes Vitamin C stores so quickly that the cause of death is fulminate scurvy. Scurvy is the same disease that killed seamen on long voyages because unless we get enough Vitamin C from our diet or our supplements, we get sick or die. Humans cannot make Vitamin C but we need it for a great many vital processes including immune function and vascular integrity. This particular type of virus uses up Vitamin C stores so quickly that the immune system is overwhelmed and the blood vessels loose their structural integrity: they leak so badly that infected animals literally bleed to death through those damaged vessels.
Prevention.

Vitamin C: lots and lots and lots of Vitamin C. Treatment
Vitamin C is not toxic. Under stress (like a viral infection), your need for Vitamin C is increased. When your body has had enough, your body will tell you by soft stools or diarrhea. This is not a sign of toxicity: it is a sign that you have reached "Bowel Tolerance" (BT). Once you get there (and it can be at 1 gram or 20 grams: your body will tell you), cut back to 75% of the dose that represents Bowel Tolernace for you and keep taking that dose EVERY DAY.

Write down each of the 4 daily doses of Vitamin C that you take each day because you will be increasing your intake gradually until you find the amount that you need for immune support. This dosage information is important enough that it could literally save your life so it is worth taking the time to record this information carefully and stick to the dosing schedule precisely. If you mess up, don't quit, but do make your best effort to stick to it.
You will start with 1 gram per dose so, for example, on Day 1, suppose that you take 1000 mg (= 1 gram) of Vitamin C every 4 hours for a total of 4 grams. On Day 2, increase the first dose to 2 grams and then take 1 gram for your other 3 doses. (You will take 4 doses per day). On day 3, take 2 grams for your first and second doses and 1 gram for the remaining two doses. On Day 3, you would take 2 grams for the first three doses and 1 gram for the next dose. You would continue increasing your dosage in that way until your body lets you know via your GI tract that you've reach the level you need. Now multiply that total daily dose by 0.75 and you've got your daily dose.

For example, suppose you reach Bowel Tolerance at 10 doses. Multiply by 0.75 and you now know that you need 7.5 grams of Vitamin C a day for immune system support.

You would do well to take reasonable doses of Vitamins E and A along with Zinc and reduced L-Glutathione since they work together with Vitamin C. How much? That depends upon your weight, health, etc. Children's doses should be titrated the same way taking the weight of the child into account. I would also recommend that you take a good Multivitamin along with the preventive levels of Vitamin C described above. Double your daily dose of multi vitamin with NO iron during flu. Now would be a great time to switch over to a diet rich in fruits, dark and brightly colored veggies, and healthy foods. Sugar DEPRESSES the immune system.

At the very first indication of anything that might be viral disease, increase your Vitamin C immediately. DO NOT WAIT TO SEE IF THINGS GET WORSE! INCREASE YOUR VITAMIN C TO YOUR NEW BOWEL TOLERANCE LEVEL. That level might be very, very high. Vitamin C is not toxic. Unlike drugs, which poison enzymes and are thus capable of severe toxicity, nutrients, especially water soluble ones like Vitamin C, have no meaningful level of toxicity. Your body knows what you need. Pay close attention to it.

ELDERBERRY SYRUP/ SAMBUCUS/VITAL

Also begin immediately begin Sambucus, which is Elderberry. Two Tablespoons at first sign of illness, followed with three additional doses of two tablespoons, each dose, the first two days. Then cut back to one tablespoon four times a day as long as your supply lasts. Sambucus helps to STOP the replication of the virus in the body WebMD Health News

From WEB M.D.—
Sambucol, a black elderberry extract, appears to short-circuit flu symptoms, a new study shows. This is more evidence that this herbal treatment for flu -- if taken when flu-like symptoms first appear -- could help people get through this year's flu invasion a bit easier.
"Sambucol is for treatment, not for prevention," Weil tells WebMD. "It has an unknown mechanism of action. Research suggests it inactivates the flu virus.” [and study is on going]

The flu drugs Tamiflu and Relenza are used for the treatment of the flu, if the symptoms have been present for no more than two days. They can also cut flu severity and shorten illness if taken soon after flu symptoms appear. These drugs can have side effects]

Background on Black Elder

In folk medicine, flowers from the black elder bush have been used to ease flu symptoms, colds, and sinus problems. In recent years, researchers have begun formal studies of Sambucol -- a formulation of elderberry extract -- to better understand this herbal remedy.
A small study published five years ago showed that 93% of flu patients given Sambucol were completely symptom-free within two days; those taking a placebo recovered in about six days. However, the study took place during an outbreak of influenza B.

The current study shows that, indeed, it works for type A flu, reports lead researcher Erling Thom, with the University of Oslo in Norway.
Thom's findings were presented at the 15th Annual Conference on Antiviral Research in 2002. The study has been accepted for publication in the Journal of International Medical Research.
The study involved 60 patients who had been suffering with flu symptoms for 48 hours or less; 90% were infected with the A strain of the virus, 10% were infected with type B. Half the group took 15 milliliters of Sambucol or and the other group took a placebo four times a day for five days.
Patients in the Sambucol group had "pronounced improvements" in flu symptoms after three days: Nearly 90% of patients had complete cure within two to three days. Also, the Sambucol group had no drowsiness, the downside of many flu treatments. The placebo group didn't recover until at least day six; they also took more painkillers and nasal sprays.

Compounds in elderberry, called anthocyanins, have an anti-inflammatory effect; this could explain the effect on aches, pains, and fever.
Elderberry extract could be an "efficient and safe treatment" for flu symptoms in otherwise healthy people and for those with compromised immune systems, such as the elderly, Thom adds. Russell Greenfield, MD, a leading practitioner of integrative medicine and medical director of Carolinas Integrative Health, advocates treating flu with black elderberry, he says in a news release. "It can be given to children and adults, and with no known side effects or negative interactions," he says.
Take HIGH DOSES OF VITAMIN A, 25,000 I.U a day.
In the event that you think you may have the flu, take the amino acids l-lysine, l-proline and l-glycine. Purchase now. An average size adult can take up to 3 grams of each one 4 times a day since they help prevent the spread of the virus in your body.

Good regimen for immune health includes high dose Vitamin C and Vitamins A and E along with zinc and L-Glutathione: Using L-glutathione is an effective method of removing excess and accumulated phlegm in the respiratory tract. This compound is a very powerful antioxidant and has an effective dissolving power as it can break down mucus into many smaller fragments for easier elimination.
Colloidal Silver . . . If the flu hits take two tablespoons in glass of water once a day for one week, then cut back to one tablespoon in water once a day. Use everyday during illness.

In 1978, the popular science magazine Science Digest did a report of silver entitled “Our Mightiest Germ Fighter.” The article stated, “An antibiotic kills perhaps a half-dozen different disease organisms, but silver kills some 650. Resistant strains fail to develop. Moreover, silver is virtually non-toxic.”

During World War II, many soldiers died from bacterial infection. The surgeon Dr. Charles Fox tried to find a way to effectively combat this problem, and developed silver sulfadiazine, which could be applied directly to a wound to prevent infection. The discovery proved to be very effective, and it continues to be used in hospitals today. Today, the FDA approves a few uses of silver for medical use. Silver sulfadiazine, which is sold under the name Silvadene, is used in burn wards to protect burns from bacterial infections. Silver infused bandages can also be used to help accelerate the healing of wounds. Many hospitals have installed silver-based water purifying systems to combat Legionnaire’s disease. Silver colloids can also be purchased online and in health food stores. Modern colloidal silver solutions can be manufactured with a much greater degree of exactitude than those produced in the early 20th century, which may lead to greater effectiveness of silver’s believed benefits.

HOW SILVER WORKS AGAINST VIRUSES A single virus will invade a living cell within the body tissue. Then the insidious pathogen will take over the nucleus of the cell and alter its production and reproduction mechanism to replicate the virus instead of the enzyme, hormone, or other chemical that the body would normally have produced for itself within that cell.

Later, the newly produced virus will be released from that cell and into the blood stream. However, another very interesting thing takes place. As the virus affects the cell for its own purposes, part of the response of that living cell is that it reverts back to a more primitive form of cell structure and chemistry. The oxygen metabolizing enzyme, or chemical lung in the cell wall, reverts as well. This more primitive form of enzyme is vulnerable to the effects of colloidal silver. The catalyst effect of the colloidal silver simply being in close proximity to the enzyme of this cell results in the enzyme becoming permanently disabled. It cannot function to bring oxygen into the cell, and the virus producing cell dies by suffocation

GARLIC SYRUP OR RAW GARLIC IN ANY FORM
Garlic is cut and seeped in vinegar and water for 4 days, stained; then honey and glycerin is added, and strained once more. I have carefully made enough for my family. You must take two tablespoons during flu, sinus infection, or hard cold. Taken with soup or supper the taste is literally GONE within minutes. This is the best way ever to use garlic.

While garlic is DIRECTLY an antiviral and antibacterial on contact, as shown in many studies, garlic is also an immune system booster in its own right. Many studies show that it can significantly boost the effects of the immune system when taken orally. Aside from the antiviral and immunomodulating effects of garlic, another reason that it is potent protection from diseases is its detoxification abilities. Garlic has sulphur containing amino acids which act of the liver to help with detoxification. In fact, it is such a potent detoxifier that studies show it has good effects on getting rid of lead and cadmium! This effect of garlic could generally produce an effect of making the body work less and allowing it to heal rather than to detoxify.

Oscillococcinum

This is a natural product you can purchase from SWANSONS health food stores. Homeopathic and is reported to shot circuit flu sympthoms. Pellets taken the first day of flu only, 3 times a day. I have used this product.
Oscillococcinum (Oscillo®), one of the world's most popular natural flu medicines, can reduce the duration and severity of flu-like symptoms when taken at the onset of symptoms. Oscillo is regulated as a drug by the FDA1 and its use is supported by published clinical studies, as well as more than 65 years of worldwide use. Plus, unlike other flu medicines, Oscillo works without causing side effects, does not interfere with other medications, and is safe for both children (older than 2 years of age) and adults.

These compounds also act as free radical scavengers (shield against toxins) thus preventing further tissue damage while encouraging healing.

Lomatium [find on VITA COST website]

IS THE BIG GUNS OF THE HERBAL WORLD
Anti-microbial: especially in the lungs and upper respiratory tract. It can be employed for quick acting relief in all cases of viral or bacterial infection, particularly where there is a large amount of thick or sticky mucous and where infection is deep seated and persistent. Specific for pneumonia. Some research has indicated a greater activity against gram positive bacteria.

Lomatium is traditionally used to treat all cases of colds and flues. There have been many cases of recorded recoveries from influenza by using Lomatium. The white man brought this disease to the Native people during the epidemic of the 1918’s. None of the Indians died from Spanish Flu who used this herb, while approximately 100 million people worldwide died from the Spanish Flu.

And of course the following is beneficial

NATURAL NICOTINE
By Lisa Melton

Scientific American; Jun2006, Vol. 294 Issue 6, p24-24,
Also found on PUB MED

This takes some common sense when reading. First of all, once a cytokine storm hits, the patient is usually in the hospital. From what I have read the nicotine is needed to help prevent the storm from occurring. Once apatient has recoved from the flu withdarw ALL nicotine.

I submit this simply for your consideration.

HOW NICOTINE STOPS INFLAMMATION COULD LEAD TO NEW DRUGS.
In the past few years researchers have found that the substance can
alleviate symptoms of ailments such as Alzheimer's disease and
ulcerative colitis. Just how nicotine battles these foes, however, has
remained unclear. Now, by studying sepsis, Luis Ulloa of North Shore
University Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y., has evidence elucidating
nicotine's biochemical pathways that could lead to more potent
anti-inflammatory drugs.

Sepsis, the most lethal of inflammatory conditions, is a bacterial
invasion of the bloodstream. The third leading cause of death in the
developed world, it accounts for nearly 10 percent of overall deaths in
the U.S. every year. Infection causes part of the damage, but what makes
patients critically ill is their own fiercely aggressive immune
response. Macrophages churn out huge quantities of proinflammatory
cytokines. This exaggerated immune response leads to tissue damage, and
eventually the patient dies of cardiovascular dysfunction and multiorgan
failure.

Ulloa and his collaborators have found something remarkable: nicotine
can shut down this overshooting inflammatory response, to the point of
reversing sepsis in mice. As far as anti-inflammatory treatments go,
this is powerful stuff. "Nicotine taps into the body's own potent
anti-inflammatory mechanisms," Ulloa explained in February at a Novartis
Foundation meeting in London. "That is the beauty of our approach. By
using nicotine, we are copying physiological mechanisms that have been
selected by evolution to modulate the immune system."

Specifically, nicotine mimics acetylcholine, the Cinderella of
neurotransmitters. Largely ignored over the years, acetylcholine has
been catapulted into a starring role, linking the nervous and the immune
systems. Through acetylcholine the nervous system controls the
inflammatory fires that constantly crop up in our bodies. Receptors for
acetylcholine reside not only on nerve cell endings but also on immune
cells. Nicotine binds and activates these receptors, allowing cross talk
between the brain and immune system.

Now Ulloa's group may have provided an explanation for the positive
effects that nicotine has on illnesses as diverse as schizophrenia,
Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, Tourette's syndrome and ulcerative
colitis. In laboratory experiments, Ulloa demonstrated that nicotine
latches onto the nicotinic receptors on macrophages and stops them from
spewing out inflammatory cytokines. This clampdown is brutally
effective. The researchers also identified the specific receptor
subtype, the alpha-7 acetylcholine receptor, that nicotine binds in
macrophages to stop cytokine production. As a potent anti-inflammatory, nicotine can damp down a dangerous immune
response.

Nicotine, Anti-inflammatory H1N1 Cure
Vagus Nerve Stimulation Blocks Cytokine Storm of Swine Flu
© Art Ayers
May 4, 2009

Nicotine has an anti-inflammatory effect via the vagus nerve, which is useful against many diseases, and perhaps may block the cytokine storm of the H1N1 swine flu.

Nicotine stimulates the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway. At the end of this pathway are immune cells that produce anti-inflammatory cytokines that block inflammation. Thus, nicotine, although one of the most addictive chemicals, can have beneficial effects on inflammatory diseases, such as arthritis, asthma, cancer, inflammatory bowel diseases and perhaps, H1N1.
Tobacco Smoke Is Toxic but it’s also Anti-Inflammatory
BUY AMERICAN SPIRIT . . . .NO CHEMICALS OR USE THE GUM OR PATCH

Nicotine Blocks Cytokine Storms
Cytokine storms are a deadly consequence of inflammation that is out of control. These exaggerated host responses are targets for bioterrorism, because it takes very little toxin or a very minimal infection to be lethal, if it produces a cytokine storm. In mice, the ricin toxin, a bioterrorism agent, induces a cytokine storm that kills by multiple organ failure. Ricin-treated mice can be protected by nicotine prior or after the cytokine storm begins.
I have read two accounts of flu sufferers who have smoked a cigar or chemical free cigarette [such as American Spirit] a few times during their illness who actually had their deep cough and mucus lessen. One of them was told to do so by their Doctor, in 2007.
Non Nicotine medicinal herbs for the lungs [used by our American ancestors]

Mullein, Verbascum thapsus
Mullein is a fine medicinal for the lungs, even when you smoke it. It soothes inflamed or infected lungs, and prevents coughing until infection or inflammation is broken. Then it aids in expectoration, helping to break up congestion and promote "effective" coughing. It was smoked to stop the coughing of tuberculosis years ago. It is wonderful for any kind of lung cleansing. Very gentle and non-toxic. HOWEVER, do NOT use any tobacco or herbal tobacco IF you are having hard time breathing. That is the time to see the Doctor.

It also has almost no flavor and is a very light smoke. I have never seen anyone become addicted to smoking Mullein, as after a while it is very unsatisfying. The average smoker would feel as if they're smoking air. Crispy dried crushed Mullein is a lousy smoke. Be sure to keep it ever so slightly moist. Dried Mullein should be rubbed for the best results. It will become very fluffy and puffy. This fuzzy rubbed Mullein will burn evenly when smoked in a paper or pipe. It will hold other herbs that are in the form of small pieces and powder, and keep them evenly distributed. And it has no flavor! Ideal for a smoking base; I use it in almost every smoking mixture.

Benedryl

LAST BUT NOT LEAST. This sounds strange, but in FACT it works.

A way to REHYDRATE your body without going to the hospital. If the flu patient has run a fever and is dehydrated please consider this.

ENEMA BAG

Mix 1 quart distilled water, 1 teaspoon sea salt, and 1 tablespoon granulated sugar together. Hang about two feet above bottom and take a rectal slow drip. You can fashion something to make it go in slow so your body can absorb it. You will absorb liquid this way just as fast as an IV drip. This is not for bowel movement, but a slow drip, maybe a cup at a time so the colon can absorb fluid.

However, in addition, it’s VITAL to keep the bowels open, so if the patient is not having at least one GOOD movement a day use a good laxative to assist.

AND NO THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE “FUNNY,” so bug OFF if you think so!!!!!!

Readers might remember a few month back there was a mysterous outbreak of unknown or undisclosed type that ocured in Jordan, where it took the lives of several people, predominantly associated with a hospital there.

The question is now being asked if indeed this new coronavirus in Saudi Arabia might be related.

Did that Jordanian outbreak have its cause sequenced, and if so can any comparisons be made now between the two?

I would be interested to know whether the outbreak of severe respiratory disease of unknown origin in Jordan in April [2012] is now being reviewed for evidence of this new coronavirus.

The HPA UK reports ( [link to www.hpa.org.uk] seem to indicate that the cases under review were only those that occurred since July [2012]. "We are also aware of a small number of other cases of serious respiratory illness in the Middle East in the past 3 months."

Re: <<Advancing Bird Flu-H5N1...Now following MERS and Ebola approaching PANDEMICS>>>
Back to the topic of those county fairs and the cases of H3N2v that have been associated with them.

Investigations are revealing some matters of interest, but in this next article, the comment of greatest interest must go to the statement that all these new strains of swine origin flu viruses have now picked up the H1N1 "M" gene.

The question must arise as to what has been the mechanism of this reassortment to have occurred across several distinct strains of flu viruses and more or less at the same time.

It seems a little artificial that this could have occurred naturally and at a time when flu was relatively quiet in the Northern Hemisphere.

An investigation of one of the 1st swine-origin H3N2 influenza cases detected in the United States in 2011 suggests that for each confirmed case, there may be many more that go undetected. The investigation, triggered by a case related to a Pennsylvania fair in August 2011, revealed 3 confirmed cases, 4 probable cases, and 82 suspected cases of variant H3N2 (H3N2v), all of them in people who had attended the fair, according to a report published yesterday [20 Sep 2012] in Emerging Infectious Diseases [ref. below]. The virus could not be confirmed in most cases because most of those with suspected infections had recovered before the investigation, the report says. But among 6 children under age 4, an age-group in which retrospective serologic testing for novel flu viruses is more useful than for older groups, 4 tested positive for antibodies to the virus. "This finding suggests that illness in at least some suspected case-patients can be attributed to A(H3N2v) virus infection," says the report by investigators from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Pennsylvania departments of health and agriculture, and the Allegheny County Health Department in Pittsburgh. The investigators also found signs that greater exposure to pigs increased the risk of having a suspected case, though this finding was not statistically significant. They found no clear evidence of efficient or sustained human-to-human transmission of the virus.

The 3 confirmed cases discussed in the report were among 12 that were identified in 2011. So far this year [2012], more than 300 cases have been found, nearly all of them over the summer in people who had exposure to pigs at county and state fairs. Also, a few cases of variant H1N2 and one case of variant H1N1 have cropped up recently, also associated with fairs. All of these variant strains have picked up the M (matrix) gene from the 2009 H1N1 virus.

High fever, runny nose, headache and sore throat - one in four Delhittes is down with flu these days. Thanks to the delayed monsoon and the sudden dip in temperature, viruses are wreaking havoc on the health of residents in the national Capital.

"There is a spurt in the cases of viral pneumonia and upper respiratory tract infections. Post-monsoon, we usually expect a rise in such cases but this time it has been unusually high," said Dr Monica Mahajan, senior consultant, department of medicine at Max Healthcare, Saket.

"There is a clustering of cases in households where one family member becomes the primary patient and then others get infected," she said.
