Wow, I really do miss everything don't I? Well, except for the "Mom's talking" ;-)

Yesterday we were gathering the four branches and putting our Sukkah together... today we've done a lot of praying, so I have to say, life is pretty good around here. I really don't feel that it will stay that way. It's all building up to something HUGE... something I cannot even comprehend as we speak.

Sorry I haven't been around much. We have been insanely busy around here and when things are busy here I have learned to stay away from GLP so I don't get into trouble. I do try to read every post here almost every day. At times I really do want to throw in my 2 cents, but my mind over rules my passion. Darby, your posts are most informative and I usually print them out and send them to our desk that handles Libya and a couple of other regions, so thanks so much. Actually the guy on that desk has your pic on his monitor in the corner, says it makes him smile when things get hectic around here. We are having some major concerns about Iran and the northwestern coast of Africa right now.Can't say much more right now. We had a recent meeting with our Israeli counterparts and I can tell you they are completely pissed, but you could have guessed that. Anyways, I will try to get back here more often with some relevant info. Keep up the good work all.

The mess in Mali must be having an impact on Mauritania - so many of the family members of the MNLA fighters are in camps there -sad....

Been flying under the radar still, not much more I can say. MAF is right about things stirring with Iran as she and Syria have been testing the waters as much as Israel has on their mutual borders.

Always a let down when you learn Israel is yet to protect herself, but much more to it. Israel does have its assets ready in certain locations outside her border, but Bibi likely will not pull the trigger, but timing is everything and there is those who say timing is not yet. Another week and he will be on the right side of the window for secret operations. Expect that if Israel does not launch an all out attack before November, that at least more covert shenanigans will be launched as we saw with Fordo, it was a big hit, but there are several more stealth attacks that could likewise do the same thing. The chems and Iranian troops are becoming a matter to deter Israel in the future, or maybe not.

Just a reminder that even though we (U.S. and Israel) have made great technological advances, weather at home and abroad can still affect a mission.

Iran’s leader is being crushed politically by the economic collapse. Meanwhile, he says Iran is coasting along and further that the nuclear work will not stop. Israel knows the US is not to do anything right now. They are busy with other special ops. Time is ticking for many.

I believe that this only brings us closer to war, a war that will be started my Iran to divert attention away from internal problems.

Which proves my assumption that hisb / assad forces and iranian forces are linking up in Syria:

War preparation to get rid of al quaida elements in Mali and surrounding areas are in the making.

American forces are already in south Algeria. French forces are linking up. Military action soon.

Obama is hesitating taking military action before the elections. But pressure grows, because mali al-quaida is pushing terrorists into Sinai, Tunesia, Lybia and Algeria.

End of summer the algerian government burned the hills surrounding the capital to the ground .... normal action to deny hide-outs to the terrorists.

Pressure is building up in north africa.

The conflict over territory is brewing, now it is JP vs CH but China has some other territorial claims .... .

I was trying to find the link, but I couldn't find it, I read it today at work on some JP site: it sais in a nutshell, that JP is reviewing his investments in China.

That could easily lead to a cold war like situation in Asia. We are not there yet, but those asians with their saving face issues ......

This syria "spring" is seriously rubbing between the NATO and Russian relationship.

At one point in time, the syria situation is not going to be acceptable anymore.

The only thingy that balances right now, is the fact, that those sunni terrorists have an infight with their shiite terrorists brothers in mind, two-sides-of-the-same-coin islamist terrorists, in who can kill the infidels first, starting with Israel.

Just my thoughts...

What I think is happening is the U.S. administartion sees that Iran's economy is tanking and hoping that people will see what type of person Ahmadinejad and will hopefully vote a different political personality into office. The United States does not want to go to war, but the only way to stop it is to have a regime change; one who will work with the West. With that being said, I cannot see anybody from Iran being put into office that the west could trust... just look at Egypt.

Anyway, while it's been rather quiet, we are still hearing about how terrible Ahmadinejad is and what happend in Lybia. These little stories are to keep the publics focus off of what is soon to be a rather large operation in Northern Africa. I give it about one month tops before we start seeing more stories coming from Sudan, Somalia, the Congo, and the rest of the counties in the northern part of Africa. The U.S. is already there and they are quietly building and filling up bases.

OT - Libya Update - The Shooting has Started in Bani Walid...

The Battle for Bani Walid begins -

Today the "Libyan Shield" Forces fresh off their "issues" in Brak mobilized to take Bani Walid and arrest two men accused of torturing the man who captured Gaddafi. Shield forces were ordered to surround the town and cut off escape routes. There were clashes in Mardom, approximately 25km from Bani Walid and then the Shield forces withdrew and shelled the Eastern part of Bani Walid. There are conflicting reports on casualties. Libyan Shield forces have now reportedly set up 60km from Bani Walid. Unconfirmed reports that Bani Walid has opened the valves of the Great Manmade River to flood the valleys around Bani Walid.

Note - The Libyan Shield Force is group of government registered militias (many from Misratah). Bani Walid is the home base of the Warfallah tribe - the largest tribe in Libya. The Misratah clans and the Warfallah tribe are historic enemies. There are reports of attacks on Misratan businesses in Sabha, Sirte and possibly Benghazi... Warfallah from Sabha are reportedly moving through Mizdah on their way to Bani Walid to join the defense of the city.

Political Intrigue

Libya continues without a government. NTC PM (and Warfallah Tribeman) Jibril is continuing to delay General National Congress (GNC) PM Abushagur's attempts to form a government. GNC PM Abushugar has been deadline of 10/7. If he fails to form a government by that date, he will be replaced as PM-elect.

BREAKING - Several Twitter accounts are leaking names of proposed cabinet ministers - we'll know if the leaks are legitimate tomorrow...

The recent "France killed Gaddafi" stories began when Jibril told an Egyptian reporter that a foreign intelligence agency was responsible for Gaddafi's death. I personally believe the timing of this admission had more to do with tribal politics than with Jibril's interest in a leadership position in the GNC (but I could be wrong & the two can be interconnected).

With the Bravado coming from both sides, I can't tell whether the Warfallah of Bani Walid are powerful enough to destabilizing (nationally) (they are just one component of the Warfallah tribe - a large group that is not known for its unity).

BREAKING - Obeidi - former NTC Intelligence Chief told Time that he is sure that AQIM was responsible for Benghazi consulate attacks. Obeidi was protege of Gen. Younis who was killed by Benghazi Islamists in the summer of 2011. So - he has a reason to encourage US military action against Islamists. Constitutional Issues

No one has made a final decision on who will draft the new constitution.  The General National Congress’s (GNC) original purpose was to draft a constitution; however, before the July election, the NTC took that power away from the GNC, ruling that drafting authority should rest in a new body in which each historical region of Libya has equal representation.  It’s widely expected that the GNC will reverse that ruling and fulfill its original purpose, but basic questions regarding the basic premise upon which “new” Libya will be formed remain unanswered.

Magarief, President of the GNC has said that he wants a secular state.  He then went on to explain that as the Libyan people are 100% Muslim, he couldn't imagine a constitution that contravened sharia in any way.  Even this nod to modernity may be a “bridge too far.”

Today Goiters had a piece on the Islamists from Derna explaining their current anger and their proposed solution - "the solution is to draft an Islamic constitution ... (to show) a true Islamic state."  The article goes on to note that some jihadists are already preparing for what they see is an inevitable showdown with those who seek to turn Libya into an "apostate" nation.

Missing Islamists

In the aftermath of the September 24th Benghazi protests, some Islamist groups in Tripoli & Benghazi may have disbanded, while many, such as Ansar al Sharia have simply disappeared.  

It’s worth noting that these groups include members of the disbanded Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), whose members hid in the Green Mountains of eastern Libya during their struggle against Gaddafi in the 1990s.  These men then joined groups such as al-Qaeda in Afghanistan & Iraq before returning to Libya, sometimes in chains, after Gaddafi’s rapprochement with the West.  Thus, Libya has groups of battle-hardened men who have experience in “disappearing” until the situation warrants their re-emergence….      

Just wanted to give you some background as we begin US drone strikes in Libya. It's my belief that those strikes are more about reigning an Islamist threat to a pro-American Libyan government that revenge for the Benghazi consulate attack (just my opinion).
