Quitted already this year User ID: 28514866 New Zealand 11/27/2012 10:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I gave up March this year within 3 weeks of getting an e-cig. Worked for me, might not for you. But anyways, I dumped a nearly 30 year old habit - 2 x 30gm rollie packets a week - Now with that extra money, I'm almost an alcoholic! Yay! Dratted addictions. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 27679092 United States 11/27/2012 11:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I quit almost 2 years ago. It is tough, but after 3 days it is all mental. Remember this, we former smokers are addicts. We cannot ever have one cig, or chew...if you do your addiction will return to the level you were when you quit! There is nothing positive that tobacco brings to your life. It brings sickness, cancer and death. BTW I smoked for over 30 years. I am so happy I quit while I am still healthy! |

KungPowMeowMeow User ID: 27358318 United States 11/28/2012 12:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | After 15 years of smoking, I tried quiting with Chantix about 5 years ago and it worked for about 3 months until I went to a party. The issue was that I still wanted to smoke very badly and when the opportunity was there I took it. Since then I just resigned myself to the fact that I was a smoker. Quoting: KungPowMeowMeow This past February I moved into a new place and my neighbors were visibly disgusted by my smoking, and so over time I didn't smoke as much at home. Now I am down to 2 or 3 cigs per day. The morning coffee cig, the end of my work day cig, and my "nightcap" before bed. On days I don't work I just have the morning and night one. Now the morning one is getting to be much longer after waking up and sometimes not at all as I'd rather sleep a little longer. For me, it just phased itself out over time. If I would've TRIED I would've failed, because I would place too much pressure on myself. I did this with drinking too. 6 years ago I was a daily drinker and had trouble sleeping if I didn't drink. I got sick, was on medication that I wasn't allowed to drink with and broke my routine. I tried to drink a few times, but let me tell you, alcohol on chemo just makes you sicker! So I guess I don't have any tricks other than you just have to be ready to be finished and then quit. I find I don't really enjoy it anymore, so why am I wasting the money? I guarantee though if I put my mind to it to "quit" the few I do smoke I will probably not succeed, so I will let myself naturally quit. Congrats to everyone who has done it with their own methods! It proves that you have ultimate control over your existance! Thanks so much for your story of eventual success. DF Well, its not complete success yet, but I have broken the mental need. I remember how panicked I would get if realized I didn't have enough for the whole night and the gas station was closed, lol. Now the pack is so old and beat up, I don't even finish it before I toss it out. The box will be falling apart and the cigs have that bottom of the purse double mint gum flavor.
