How can I tell the source of porn I found in husband's stash.

Last modified means thats when anything was changed in the files/folder, such as renaming ect.

The virus explanation is probably made up. He is probably looking at porn and is ashamed/embarassed you caught him. My advice is to not blow up on him about it, but to talk it through with him and find out why he feels he needs it.

Some viruses are known to burn themselves onto cds or copy themselves to flash drives to spread to other computers. It was probably just trying to spread itself by making the cd of pics when he was getting rid of it

Have to pitch in with the general opinion here, you really have nothing to worry about. You're not providing much info, but I'll try to help.

First of all, the last modified date will show when the CD was burned.

Second, although there ARE viruses that dump porn all over your hard drive, they can NOT burn themselves onto CDs. A human did that, probably on the last modified date.

Third, if it's like 200 images, was it a professional porn shoot or someone taking raunchy pics of themselves? You should be able to tell, if the quality is good and they appear to go in order. Amateur stuff is generally poorly lit and, well... onviously amateur.

I'm guessing the real matter of your concern is if your husband was "sent" these photos, versus them just being random porn. Are the files named with personal captions, or are they just numbered? Is the girl holding up any signs or has she written any messages on herself?

If it IS just random run of the mill download-anywhere porn, no you do not have anything to worry about. Like it or not, unless you're some kind of nymphomaniac, you will NEVER I repeat NEVER be able to keep pace with his sex drive. Men, and a lot of women too, use porn to release sexual energy in a safe way. Like it or not, the male system likes to be "flushed" every few days, and if he doesn't masturbate he's just gonna do it in his sleep eventually. Plus he'll be sexually frustrated.

So unless you think he's legitimately cheating, and those pics were "made" for him, I'd leave it alone.
