Romney was not a good candidate. The Republican needs to think deeply about the future and how to be relevant again.

The fact that Romney refused to release his tax records, a tradition his own father started, should have been enough of a message for most people that he was a bad candidate.

Carbon tax, the elite are behind it, anyone who doesn't support it will not win anything.

Megachurches for fundies regularly fill up with enthusiastic worshipers.

Non-churchgoers don't bother forming non-churchgoer, non-fundie meetups.

If you looked a the two venues, you'd think there are more fundies than non-fundies due to the huge, enthusiastic crowd at the former, the lack of people at the latter.

Yet non-churchgoers or non-fundie churchgoers substantially outnumber fundamentalist Christians.

Why?

Appealing to a small, narrow group causes a huge deal of enthusiasm among that small narrow group. More enthusiasm=more people go to the effort of showing up. Therefore, a false impression of greater numbers for group one-- whereas the apathetic group two truly has the greater numbers. They just don't bother to show it.

The moral of the story? Romney appealed to a narrow but very enthusiastic group.

Obama won for many reasons. Just FYI, I'm a Ron Paul fan because he is fiscally and militarily conservative and socially liberal which fits my core values perfectly. The Democrats are socially(gay rights, abortions), economically (pro FED, auto bailouts), and militarily(Libya, Kosovo) liberal, so nope. The Republicans are socially conservative(gay bashing, drug war), but economically(pro FED, bank bailouts) and militarily(Iraq war crime) liberal, so nope. The republican party is no longer conservative in a fiscal or military sense so I voted Libertarian to end the fed and pointless wars of choice (in freaking Afghanistan no less, the anus of planet earth). I believe we all have the right to a marriage with whatever person we choose because we are all equal in the USA, and the drug war is so ridiculous no explanation is needed.

Tell me again which of the two candidates I should have voted for? Because neither is worthy of leading this country IMO. Republicans have gained "red meat" voters, but the party is so repugnant and stagnant that I refuse to vote for their extremist candidate. Contrary to Mitt Romney's opinion, the 47% does matter. Losing motivated, organized tech savvy former republicans to the Paul camp and then ignoring him hurt just as bad as Nader stealing votes for Gore on the democrat side in 2000. I hope all the racist, fear-mongering, fascist, homophobic, flag worshipering chickenhawks on this site have a long look in the mirror. If you look close enough, you can see the reason you lost.

Look at the intelligence level of the people that voted for obama. Blacks...single women who are too ignorant to realize that roe v wade will NEVER be overturned...and union workers who do what they are told. Jews are the exception. They have higher intelligence than the average voter...but for some reason side with the mindless sheep.

Perhaps the folks who supported Obama were working during those meetups and the fatcats who supported Romney well were being fatcats and out kissing ass and appearing to be useful....

He appealed to most voters. I like this site, but it is not representative of the United States electorate. In fact, I would say that there are more conservative users than there were when I first started looking at this site a few years ago. So what goes on at this site is far from what goes on in mainstream America.

Also, I think many Obama voters just don't have the time or resources to attend campaign rallies.


I also think a lot of people voted for him because he was the lesser of two evils.

I think if Romney hadn't tried to appease the far right so much he might have won. Then again he might not have been the GOP nominee.
