Whatever small chance we had for reaching peace is, I fear, long gone. There is no realistic chance to reach a peace agreement with Hamas in power. Hamas remains committed to the destruction of Israel. And the ideological roots of Egypt’s new government are the same as those of Hamas. It is foolhardy to believe that the government of Egypt will shed its anti-Israel doctrines anytime soon. The Muslim Brotherhood has not wavered in its beliefs and in its deep-seated hatred for Israel and Jews. All signs point to continued difficulties for Israel, and the country is poised for an extended period of danger.

In 1999, Thomas Freidman wrote “The Lexus and The Olive Tree.” His central thesis was that as long as the Arabs and Jews continued to fight over the olive tree instead of worrying about how to manufacture high-end products such as the Lexus, there would be no peace. That leaves Israel in a difficult place, needing to find ways to defend itself and maintain some level of deterrence without giving its enemies excuses to unite against it.

Looks like Israel is looking for an excuse not to send ground troops in, due to high casualties risk. Bombing from distance is much safer option. Hillary is coming to seal an agreement to end the violence. After all what was rebuild since 2009 has been destroyed, Hamas government will be blamed for bad economy and security in Gaza strip. Don't let them advance, every couple of years bomb them back to the stone age. That's the plan...
