Sirens were heard in the capital city just before 2:15 p.m. and an explosion was heard moments later. According to reports, two rockets landed in an open area near the Palestinian city of Bethlehem, which lies approximately 8 kilometers (5 miles) south of Jerusalem. Other reports refer to a single rocket.

the ones that just landed outside Jerusalem are the furthest range - Fajr-5. Hamas claims they are M-75's but no one believes them. they are falling short (i.e. south) of Jerusalem. the ones that hit Tel Aviv are shorter-range, Fajr-3's perhaps, although Hamas claimed M-75 there too.

Israel wasn't even a glint in Jehovah's eye while Australian Aboriginals were and still are the oldest living culture on Earth, practicing their Dreamtime for more than 50,000 years.

I once asked a jewish friend how wise living elders of this ancient indigenous culture would fit in with the Jewish idea of the chosen ones and how they would be regarded in the afterlife and the response was basically by not conforming to a Jewish belief system, they had no afterlife relevance....they were nothing in the eyes of God basically because these intelligent spiritual people across remote parts or Australia were not attending synagogues.

I hope that self righteous elitism and disregard for indigenous spirituality and divine connection is not universal to all Jewish people but it would be nice Mr Romania, to understand Australia has a much, much longer spiritual history and culture than your 3000 years of Jewish history.

THE Middle East appeared to have pulled back from the brink last night after Egyptian media reported Israel and Hamas had agreed a ceasefire.

The apparent breakthrough came as senior Israeli ministers were quoted as saying that Israel had decided to hold off from launching a ground invasion of the Gaza Strip to give Egyptian-led truce efforts a chance to work.

"A decision was taken that for the time being there is a temporary hold on the ground incursion to give diplomacy a chance to succeed," a senior official told Agence France-Presse.

"They discussed both the state of the diplomacy and the military operation."

Al-Arabiya news agency reported that a ceasefire would be implemented in two stages.

The first stage would be the end of bombing and rocketing: Israel would agree to end its aerial and naval bombing of Gaza and Hamas would agree to end rocket fire into Israel.
