Um, not exactly.

Phytoplankton

The one celled algae that make up the phytoplankton, using only sun, water and some trace minerals like any good vegetable, manages to produce proteins, amino acids and some basic carbohydrates. The waste product of this process is ninety percent of the oxygen we all enjoy so much. The concentration of this waste allowed our oxygen dependant animal friends, the zooplankton, to develop and thrive while keeping the phytoplankton from poisoning or over populating itself.

Zooplankton

Zooplankton are not one type of organism either. What will class an animal in the all inclusive family of zooplankton is more a matter of being between the size of a bacteria and a tiny fish that you can see with the naked eye.

The basic ingredient in this blend is a 70 percent mix of crustacean species representing all of the possible variations in size. Add to this generous amounts of rotifers and protozoa plus every egg and larval stage of every fish and shellfish on the planet, and spice with a dash of krill according to taste. To give the concoction some body we must not forget to add the gelatinous zooplankton, including jellyfish, medusae, salps and comb jellies, collectively called gelata.

Re: How humans are not physically created to eat meat
Although I would like to agree .. I was vegan for a long time ..

This kid I babysat for had chest pain when he was in his early teens .. when he went to the hospital they found out his chest cavity (bones) .. weren't expanded correctly for his heart ..

The cause was no meat in his diet and his parents didn't adjust his diet correctly, not even being vegetarians .. he refused to eat meat since he was about 2 of 3 .. and it created a deficiency ..

If we weren't meant to be meat eaters our body would adjust to the unbalanced diet without assistance ..

I agree with Laura on this

The vegan/vegetarian lifestyle is being pushed by monsanto and big GM firms. The idea is to get people off meat and into GM grown beans/corn

watch as price of meat will keep rising.

Also Google Moringa, it's a plant that makes you infertile. They plan to plant large amounts of it in Africa for people to eat.

You're right about this, Monsanto is heavily into modified soy and corn, eek!

the OP has been seriously discredited by most posters.

Soy is one of the most poisonous things for the body..Beans are horrible and contain soy..Soy will give you cancer and will mess with your sexual hormones...resulting in very early aging and all kinds of diseases

Amino acids cannot be found in the right amounts with the right bio-availability in plant based diets and cannot be replaced with synthetic alternatives.

The other problem is that we really cannot isolate all the products of animals and what sort of effect they have on us...Fish for example contains a lot of compounds that aren't naturally made in plants but only in fish, you cannot just cut that out of your diet and replace the fish with some generic and cheap nutritional supplements..vegetarians cannot play God.

By the way. a lot of people seem to think that if others can survive on plants then they can too. That line of reasoning is simply false..there is something called an epi-genome..which is the altered genome passed on from your parents and it determines how much good stuff you can extract from food and in what amounts do you need certain foods..you also develop your own epi-genome changes early on in childhood...so switching to a vegan diet at 30 will be one of the most radical and unhealthy decisions you can make..most vegans don't have any education in genetics or nutrition and are just following fads that they themselves have very little idea about.

Wrong

Laura, google estorgesm and Moringa..

Moringa is used in Africa as a cheap contraceptive..it results in sex hormone changes and leads to permanent infertility.

There is a good reason why t he UN are looking at growing Moringa all over Africa..and it's not for the vitamin content.

Re: How humans are not physically created to eat meat
I became ovo-lacto vegetarian about two years ago. If you've ever seen an animal being butchered alive (I have), it's not a nice thing, but never had the will to cut off meat until then.

Digestion certainly improved, and have much less of that bloated feeling. My family also noticed that I became more energetic (I didn't think of that myself). However, for a long time I felt a bit hazy and craved lots of sugar, so a month ago or so I adjusted my diet from mostly complex carbs(i.e. brown bread) to more legumes and dairy, and I also started exercising. Now I feel much better and no longer have those sugar cravings.

blah lots of babble really

I mean what's this supposed to mean: "Beans are horrible and contain soy". Really? Have you tried red kidney beans? Broad Beans? Any other type of beans? There are so many, and they don't contain soy.

"Amino acids cannot be found in the right amounts with the right bio-availability in plant based diets and cannot be replaced with synthetic alternatives."

Another bold statement right there. Lots of plants can provide more than 20 grams of protein per 100 grams, which is close to what meat provides, and their amino-acid profiles are alright. Furthermore, you can mix and match to get what you need.

Finally, your statement about fish is unfalsifiable, so it's pointless to try to dissect it. Just please stop with your wild generalizations. It's true it's more difficult for vegans to get the nutrition they need, but it's certainly not impossible. You do not need to eat meat to survive well.

Sorry, not enough coffee, lil bitchy .. you think? ;)

It isn't the straight soy bean .. it is something to do with the modification ..

I have Asian family, and I have Hispanic family .. and I work(ed) in traditional medicine .. so this is what I have seen ..

Babies that are hispanic and switched to soy formula, have a high incidence rate to develop breasts, pubic hair, etc .. male and female

.. and this is something I also picked up as a theory in school, and confirmed in medicine .. I don't know if it's documented ..

My Asian family eats (me too) soy beans, makes soy milk from beans, I even have a powder base that is made from soy beans and I use it almost like flour .. and I don't see any prepubescent problems in them ..

Check this out .. never knew this .. the aluminum? ..

Dr. Mercola - "Soy formula is one of the worst foods that you could feed your child. Not only does it have profoundly adverse hormonal effects as discussed above, but it also has over 1000% more aluminum than conventional milk based formulas. It is becoming increasingly common for young children, even 5- and 6-year-olds, to go through precocious puberty (aka early sexual development). The introduction of this report even states that studies have found girls as young as 2 years old entering puberty! This is clearly a multi-faceted problem, but I believe one of its main causes stems from your environmental exposure to a whole slew of endocrine-disrupting chemicals. Even the conservative US government has recognized that soy formula is a potent endocrine disruptor ...
