My son doesn't have the money to get Christmas dinner for him and his two kids. Wife died last year, I won't get into details.
I have to go out of town, most of the day so I can't cook here.
What you're offering would be a blessing for him and the kids.
I don't have money to give him.

OP - this is a very nice gesture indeed. I do truly hope a GLP member here, who is in need, comes forward.

My husband is the paycheck earner, as we only have one car, living in the country, and there is hardly any work in the region (NC). He works in the furniture factory and will have the week of Christmas off. He will get what is called a Christmas bonus the week beforehand on normal payday (Thursday) and will be about 60% of a normal week's pay.

So, one week's pay will be short and won't receive another paycheck until Jan 3. Needless to say, things will be extra tight in trying to pay the car payment, rent, and a few utilities on time.

HOWEVER - I think we'll be alright. It'll just be him and I (and 4 cats) for Christmas, so we won't need much in food. We'll more than likely have a typical dinner with the added treat of a cake or cookie I bake.

He and I have been together for 11 years now. We have only been able to afford one Christmas, and that was only one small gift to each other. This year will probably be another non-Christmas gift year also.

While things have been rough for us this year (since practically day one in January) and we have had a lot of bad luck thrown our way, we are in a better position than many other people/families. We are very thankful for that.

Regardless of your faith or spiritual stance, I hope everyone has a lovely holiday.

I am not sure how charitable you seem as you mock Christians. This is not kind nor filled with brotherly or sisterly love as you claim. But more of a boasting act then anything, if you really want to help someone do it with humility, donate to your local salvation army or mustard seed, give to families in need most grocery stores now have the ability to put money down on your bill payment to pay for food and dinners for families in need, go out and volunteer at your local soup kitchen, invite someone over to your home that has nowhere else to go.

By the time you help someone here you could have helped many, even world vision help the children that have nothing and are cold and hungry. It's the good will of your heart, you don't need to boost about it, just go out and do it. God bless.

It's so much easier that way! I'm with you. Any restaurant will do over 6 hours of cooking when it only takes 15 minutes to eat. Then of course the clean up. But then again, there's nothing like a big family coming together to share a holiday.

Depressed Natasha, you seem to spend a lot of time on glp and you seem to have money to pay for a subscription, yet you can't be home to help cook dinner for your poor son and your grandchildren, it doesn't have to be grand just to be with your family, excuse me if there is a good reason you will be out of town, but for the sake of these poor little ones. I am truly sorry for his loss. And also your depression perhaps if you could change your life around you would be less depressed. Why not pay it forward by being there for your son and your grandchildren?

I gave away three cars last year. One person on this site to a dad that desperately needed it. Not to mention all my other smaller charitable donations to the likes of the Salvation Army and several food drives. Not that I owe you any explanation.

Of course, you are showing your bad side of Christianity. I expected one of you with a long nose to come looking down.

It is what it is. What is it you are doing for one of our GLP members? The Grinch will steal Christmas any time he see's an opening.

Don't worry, OP. Like you said, you give throughout the year in various ways ... now you're just trying to do something for a fellow GLPer ... nothing wrong with that. Not all charitable work needs to be done behind the scenes and hush hush.
