OP thank God for the Blood of Jesus. Without the shedding of blood there is not remission of sin. Thank God we are under a better convenat that when we do sin if we confess our sin that God is faithful to forgive us ours sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

I didn't realize it was a battle, but maybe that's the problem with these sort of 'discussions.' So much emotion and energy, it's as if one is fighting for their life and purpose. I get that. I understand faith gives purpose and that's great. It's a difficult belief system to maintain too, so it can become very personal when I didn't mean for it to be...in all sincerity. In a way we're both trying to defend the integrity of what we believe or perceive, and we can come to a common ground there.

Our logic and common sense of the day really points towards a more practical, or scientific approach. I don't think we should get angry or reject everything that comes our way, but I understand why people hold onto their faith and react emotionally to other approaches. I know I have in the past.

Your first instinct is to call into question God the Father, and because that is the case, you fail to see the reasoning and purpose in God's plan for us. Never forget that God created us, and those children were His creation, to do with as He pleases. What you failed to include in your understanding is that these plagues were sent to force the Pharaoh to release the Isrealites from slavery. Even if we did not know that was the reason, who are we to question the Will and Purpose of our Father?

God does not need our validation, and humility is our mandate to prove to Him, not the other way around. Stop trying to find fault with your Creator, and choose instead to find your own faults and correct them. Then, and only then, will you begin to understand what so confuses you now.

Or do you think those children had chosen to be born in the country where that pharaoh ruled? Or any influence over the Israelites being slaves? Or even any influence over the Pharaoh at all?

You forget, God warned the Pharaoh that this would happen BEFORE it did, yet the Pharaoh did nothing to stop it. The Pharaoh could have freed the Isrealites to save the firstborn children of his kingdom, but he chose not to. God chose the firstborn children because he knew that was what the Egyptians held most dear, just as God held dear the Isrealites. Again, those children were God's Creation to do with as He pleases - yet He was gracious enough to give the Pharaoh a chance before taking them from him.
