Re: BPearthwatch gets it wrong... again.
No, this is not comet ISON.

BPearthwatch has no idea what he's talking about. Again. It's actually galaxy NGC 936.
[link to nova.astrometry.net]
He's moderating all comments on his video and I kind of doubt he'll accept my comment correctly identifying the object in question. It's not ISON, they simply showed an image of it at the end of one of the Slooh shows about ISON to show what else their members were looking at (and pointing out how it looks like a star wars tie fighter), just to advertise for their subscription service. BPearthwatch either wasn't paying attention or didn't understand (or he does understand and he's just lying to get hits in order to drive up ad revenue on his channel), so he jumps to the conclusion that it's ISON and that this image confirms that there are objects next to ISON. Wrong. It's a galaxy about 50 million light years away. It is not comet ISON. Astrometry confirms this.

O rly?

BPEarthWatch 1 day ago

The image was presented to me as an image of Ison. Now it appears to be another object shown on the slooh program during the same event.

BPearthwatch now admits it, even though he still won't allow my comment mentioning the astrometry link to post.

Hi Dr Astro:-)

A bit off topic, but I'd olike to hear your opinion about a certain coronal hole, which apparently permeating the Sun, wall-to wall, corona-to corona.
I am aware, that the "holes" are likely not holes, but cooler plasma, yet it seems a bit odd...

Thread: SUN GATE STILL OPEN IT COULD LET ISON IN SMOOTHLY - UPDATE OCT 12: The same coronal hole is back on BOTH sides of the SUN. 2 MONTH passed (Page 6)

Cordially invite you to the thread above, or just take a look at this pic:

Yeah, they're talking about a drill, not an actual shutdown of the power grid. All TV and radio was supposed to be shut down during the Elenin nonsense, at the start of the complete devastation and doom.
[link to blogs.westword.com]
Between Elenin and 2005 YU55, it was supposed to be the start of the end of the world as we know it. Didn't happen.

I swear, these ISON claims are exact duplicates of the Elenin claims. Nothing new under the sun.

actually this could be problematic on this large scale drill when they want to return the grid back on. never heard about something this massive according to the official page. I would take at least a look on the dates and keep groceries and money to live off the grid 1 or 2 weeks, just in case the experts akcnoledge the difficult to bring back an entire continental outdated grid to live again. is waaaaaay more complicate than they think, thats for sure.

Thread: ISON; THE WINGED ONE, NEW IMAGES...WOW THIS THING IS HUGE (Page 3)

Approxmatelty 1 minute of research will tell you

A) The image in Bp earth watch video is not of Ison but of a
galaxy Galaxy, NGC 936
[link to www.eso.org]

The Slooh video doesn't claim the image is of Ison ! listen and think for a second. The Slooh video uses it as an example of how people jump to conclusions.

B) Even when I matched the stars with the Galaxy, NGC 936 image of the Southern observatory website and told BP earthwatch he would not acknowledge the mistake.

Stupid mistakes like this are what give conspiracies their bad name. I am a firm believer that a comet or meteor event will be used to enslave us at some point in the future.. So less of the silly mistakes please.

Re: BPearthwatch gets it wrong... again.
Dr Astro,

When are we going to see another video, photo, of ISON from you?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 39830991

I'm going to do another live ISON webcast sometime this week.
How often and at what times and distances, and have you got a plan to show all of us?
 Quoting: AC

I'm going to try to show ISON once a week. I would schedule a specific day except that I don't want to have to cancel on account of weather and have missed an earlier day in the week that I could have done it, so I'm just going to play it by ear and try whenever the weather looks good at a rate of about one show a week.
As this comet gets closer, from your photos will we be able to get closer more clear high res photo of what all may be inside its coma?
 Quoting: AC

As it gets closer, if it survives perihelion, it will look much larger and brighter in my images. There won't be anything to see in the coma unless it breaks up. The coma is just tenuous gas and dust.
In your opinion, Is there possibly larger than dust sized particles, possibly tens of millions of rocks ,asteroids? what about possible Cyanide gases coming in the tail of this thing?
 Quoting: AC

Tens of millions of rocks and asteroids? No. There may be slightly larger bits near the nucleus, in fact the nucleus itself could be binary for all we know, but if so it's orbiting the primary object of the nucleus at a very close distance, too close for even Hubble to have resolved back in April.

It's not a threat to us. We've known about cyanogen gas in comets for a long time now, and for just as long a time there have been people trying to profit off of that with fear porn combined with sales of "survival gear." The fact is that the gasses in the coma and tail are too tenuous to affect life on earth, even if it flew right past us and we brushed the tail (which we won't). That's exactly what happened with Halley's comet in the early 20th century and no one got poisoned by it.
[link to www.ianridpath.com]
[link to www.slavinskas.com]
From the trajectories I've seen, which I presume to be accurate?,it appears that as the comet is slingshot around the sun that afterwords, as its going away from earth for several weeks, the earth will be directly in this comet tail where there is a possibility of magnetosphere problems because of the nearness to the sun possibly acting up and solar flares causing charged particles with comet and earths magnetosphere lighting up like a huge firework in the sky causing some type of possible electrical reaction?.
 Quoting: AC

Nope. We're not going to pass through the tail. We will pass relatively close in January to where the comet had been previously which is where we may intersect some dust left behind from it, but we will not be passing through the tail. Note that in Halley's case the comet literally passed directly between us and the sun. Nothing happened.
At some point we will be directly in front of, and in between the comet and the sun,
 Quoting: AC

Nope.
with how massive this coma, tail is, possibly earth directed flares and CME radiation bursts could be a problem for our electrical systems,
 Quoting: AC

No. CMEs can be a problem for our electrical systems but they have nothing to do with ISON. And ISON will not be directly between us and the sun. Nor will we be directly between ISON and the sun.
 Quoting: Dr. Astro

Hey there dr. Nasatroll, care to explain why you focus on be like bp yet ignore the real facts like Jupiter and the moon being tilted beyond normal due to the gravitational influence of a large space body? Why don't you have the balls to debunk Nancy? When she called you out, you disappeared because of some imaginary stalker you created. Where is the police report? What about when the zetas threatened to upload your shill contract last year and you got scared? Any answers astro?

I don't see what any of it has to do with this thread though. I guess this is yet another test of religious orthodoxy and if I don't agree with enough conspiracies or the right conspiracies that you believe in then I should be ignored or something.
