Wake up after an EMP attack....What do you do first?

No alarms went off, nothing beeped because everything is fried. It's spring so the temperature change didn't wake you. Just silence. No electricity no cars working, no noise at all. Freaky thought! What would you do first? Ride bike to grocery store? See if neighbors are up?

I don't know but I think the natural early risers would an hour or two head start before chaos.....

Where you gonna drive in your old cars when the Nuclear power plants are melting down all over the map? There is no where to go, nothing to be done, but wait to die miserably.

I probably wouldn't notice for at least an hour.

I wake up, without an alarm, before dawn every day. I move through the house with the lights off, so everyone else stays asleep. The dogs follow me like shadows and we head outside, me to check out the fading stars and to make sure the dogs don't decide to play with a skunk or a pack of raccoons, and them to do their thing. When we all get back inside, I light the gas stove and throw on a kettle for tea, to enjoy out on the porch, whatever the weather. I enjoy the velvet feel of night slipping into day. There is a moment every morning when you hear and sense the community around you wake up, almost as a group. And it seems like the seconds leading up to that belong to just you, because you are the only crazy-assed human up and out at that time, watching the world roll over on its belly.

Yeah, I wouldn't start to get suspicious until the sky started to turn grey and an alarm did not go off inside, waking someone up.

Three weeks without power after Sandy in freezing temps, plus a nor'easter, was a good dry run for an EMP. Half my neighborhood was washed away and we did fine.

If you don't have a wood stove, get one. They are key to survival. Seriously. Or build an indoor rocket stove.

Kerosine lanterns are also very efficient fuel-wise, although camping lanterns throw a lot more light. Not sure if the latter would be affected. Candles are worthless in terms of casting usable light...you'd have to have more candles than the Vatican to properly light a room.

I do think the GLP crowd would be the most likely to sense this is serious and get their mindset retired the fastest. The Alabama pipeline burst I was filling up gas cans thinking there would be a shortage and most thought I was being ridiculous. As it turns out they think they were right - I still wouldn't change being over prepared.

It's going to be obvious the EMP attack will be a false flag/hoax because the only thing that won't work will be:

-Anything connected to Power Grid
-Anything connected to Wifi

Everything else, like battery operated electronics older cars, etc. will still work.

They are basically going to light a Giant Firework and turn the grid off manually, claiming an EMP attack.

Hidden pits with spikes is much better that night vision...

Not such thing as emp proof

You need to get a Lehman's Non-electric catalogue now and order all the stuff you need - like an alternative hand-pump for your well, a washboard, percolator for coffee, generator, greenhouse, garden blankets, Coleman stove, wind-up clock etc.
Then, you can wake up and figure out that you need to make coffee with the Coleman stove and the percolator pot. Going to the store or gas station won't help because they will have no cash registers, and probably won't make it in anyway. I have a small propane heater to keep the chill off. I should get another one. You need to stock up on propane beforehand. Should probably begin to smoke and make jerky out of meat like ham or turkey that you may have in the freezer. Hopefully, you will at least have dried rice, beans, and flour on hand to last you a few months.Then, plant a garden and try to get some chickens for eggs. Have plenty of fire arms at every door, along with wasp spray to deter people like kids that you don't want to kill. If you are in a large city, you are probably fucked.

To get him back for when he did that to you?

They work by gravity so all you have to do is pour water in and it will flush.

Fill all of your containers, bathtubs, etc. while the water is still running.
