nicole User ID: 678710 United States 06/27/2009 02:10 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Pit bulls are not human aggressive chow chows are, both are animal aggressive. I have a Chesapeake bay retriever/red nose pit. She is a giant baby and doofus but people cross the street out of her way when we walk. If you're raising this dog from puppy, you have a better chance. Socialize it- 5-9months is CRUCIAL for socialization. If this dog is already 2year+ you going to have to do some SERIOUS work, de-sensitization training, agility/flyball, lots of exercise. I work with dogs. shepherds, Akitas, SHEEPDOGS >.< and chows top the list for human aggressive, even hounds.... the pitbull is actually going to work for you in this mix...pitbulls aim to please- they are excellent dogs for children due to their high pain threshold and will defend an owner till death. Also..people...I've been bit many times by dogs...the most painful, bloody and stitch-requiring bites come from small dogs, some of which are the most human aggressive: dachshund, or, wiener dog :p , the chihuahua, Llasa Apso, Jack Russel terrier...terriers in general..little bastards. It's always how you raise the animal... eseernosam User ID: 714547 United States 06/29/2009 10:10 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I rescued a chow/pit mix. Her name is Lola and she is the sweetest dog I have ever known. Great with kids, other dogs, and other animals. The only time she'll ever (but hasn't had to) attack is if I am asleep and someone comes into the house uninvited. I see this is a good thing. Her best friend is the neighbors dog who is a rot/lab mix who is as sweet as she is. It all depends on how you raise a dog. Any dog has the potential to be loving and loyal or mean and uncontrollable. Don't get me wrong, she was hard-headed as a puppy, but now you couldn't ask for a better dog. |
Eleven-15 User ID: 682968 United States 06/29/2009 10:38 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes maybe... If loved and nurtured in a healthy enviroment maybe not. Chow dogs are a pain in the ass. They like the freedom to roam the streets and neighborhoods if not they are in constant escape mode. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 477699Very horrible. That litlte girl is in for major cosmetic surgery as she grows. Never trust a Chow. Used to work for animal control. We used to quarantine lots of chows for biting. One had bit the family's kids twice but they still kept him. Then he took the father's (the dog's master) ear off in a sneak attack from behind. The other frequent flyers for bites were husky, malamute, akita, but not as many as chows. It seemed to be the breeds with the curly tails. Even though there was a high percentage of the curly tail breeds being quarantined the most fierce dog we ever had in there was a male lab. Go figure. But on the other hand I have known people with these curly tailed breeds that have had very good luck with them. |
pittychow luva User ID: 745620 United States 08/09/2009 04:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i own a pitty chow and he is one of the best dogs iv ever owned hes a real sweet heart and a great guard dog the only reason a dog bites is out of fear or defence well most the time people just have a stereotype of both breed i think pittychows are great dogs if taken care of properly and they have to be trained and budah is a very smart dog and does fun tricks |
PitChow Owner User ID: 745680 United States 08/09/2009 06:46 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I also own two pitchow mix puppies (they are actually 2 years old but we still call them puppies) They are the best dogs we have ever owned. We have five cats as well and they never fight with the cats. For someone to say they are aggressive then they are just going by a book standard and has probably never owned or met this mix breed. The only time i have seen my puppies become aggressive is when someone tried to break into our house while we were sleeping. And that i would not consider to be aggression as much as protective. |

It's always how you raise the animal... Yep..I have a Dobi, a Shepherd and a Mini Dox. The Mini Dox is the meanest one of the 3. He's tried to nip at people from time to time and being he's a hound dog I have to keep him on a leash or a run outside cuz he goes to ground a lot. Plus he's really quick, agile and amazingly strong for his size, even with those tiny legs. Then again I understand Doxis were breed to hunt badgers so I guess being agressive was a good trait when ya had to hunt badgers. Back on topic...OP, you have to have a lot of time to spend with a dog...especially an aggresive breed. Dogs who are left home alone for hours at a time get bored and sometimes this boredom can bring out the worst in a dog. If this is your first dog or you have a lot of little kids or other dogs near you I'd pass on it. If you want a dog that's smart, loyal, good with kids and other dogs, is easy to train and looks mean get a Doberman. |

I have had numerous Vets and people comment on how sweet she is. 60 pounds of love that wont let you stop petting her. She has a beautiful Brindle coat with a dark purple tongue. She also gets alone well with her brother who is a Chow-Shepard-Wolf mix |

What kind of temperament would the mix of those breeds make, what do you think? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 466162Mutts are usually dumb. Pit Bulls, if trained incorrectly can be a very dangerous dog. Vaela User ID: 844797 United States 12/19/2009 03:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Most of you ought to be ashamed of yourselves. As someone said, if you're going to pull out the old "this breed is bred to be evil" thing, then get your facts straight. Pits aren't supposed to be human aggressive, fighting pits are the opposite because those horrible people who fight them need their dogs not to kill them. Second, any dog has the potential to be aggressive, and any dog has the potential to be great. My LAB is more aggressive than my PIT/CHOW MIX. When I go to the dog park, my submissive dog gets picked on constantly, but it has never been by an "aggressive" breed. It's always labs, or more commonly, huskies. Thanks very much. Also, who in the world actually said "mutts are usually dumb" and meant it seriously? that's the sillest thing I've ever heard. Don't give false assumptions as factual advice. you are WRONG. Most black people are dangerous. <--- Doesn't that sound wrong? Maybe because it is wrong. You make assumptions but you are absolutely wrong. So stop being stupid. BAD PEOPLE like the image "aggressive" breeds come with, and thus, many poor dogs end up being raised badly and treated terribly. It's not their fault, and it's not in their blood. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 815916 United States 12/19/2009 03:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Both of those breeds are agressive. Quoting: himselfDangerous mix imwio. I will not have a ChowChow for any reason/ too likely to bite people and get you sued. Pit bulls are bred to love to fight. Owners make them dangerous to people. My pit bull loved to get his tummy tickled. He loved people but also loved to fight with other dogs. His constant companion was a doberman. They ate and slept side by side, and fought all day long like the 3 Musketeers. A pet/friend Minnesota timberwolf would watch them fight. bark out and both would sit. He would get up and touch noses with one of them. They then went through the fight again with the wolf taking one part and showing what they did wrong. He then sat and watched again as they repeated the sparring, doing it like he had shown them. Lol, you don't mess with the Alpha! I love wolves! |

Quoting: FLUFFY PUPPYA Chihauhua is VERY aggressive, because they are so protective. It's not the Dane you should be worried about. My sister had a min. Doberman/Chihauhau mix and noone could even get close to it, it was so damn mean. It was almost impossible to make friends with it. It would come right after anybody with it's teeth bared. |
