Did you do that on purpose or by accident Nines?
So I went to my bunco night tonight and we are all going to do the 5k mud walk/run for breast cancer in November. Hope its a warm November! It looks like lots of fun, its a 12 station obstacle course in mud. You go as a group and have to stay as a group, team building sort of stuff. Looks like a lot of fun and a trip to goodwill for some throw away clothing is in order!

Your mud run sounds fun. Hope they have showers at the end where you can clean up and change before getting back in your car!

He is a good piggy! Gonna be hard since we have had him since hes little and he is like a dog. He even plays fetch with a stick. We are not doing it, gonna take him down to the butcher for that.

You are thinking of Pinky but poor Delilah, can you imagine being prego for 4 yrsohnoooo

The mud thing will be fun but the showers are actually a rinsing station, which basically means (probably) that its just a hose. Planning on sitting in a big yard and trash bag all the way home

verysad to the bolded. I couldn't do it. Sniff, sniff.
I didn't mean Delilah would be prego for 4 yrs. I meant Sir Pinky could practice for four years. Practice makes perfect. Perfect piggies. 8) What if Delilah has babies and they all sell real fast and you want to breed her again? Pinky would be happy to oblige again. 8)

The mud thing suddenly doesn't sound fun at all. Nasty, nasty, nasty. If you guys get pulled over on the way home, make sure you're animated and speak quickly. Don't want Pete shot for hauling a body for disposal. HAHAHA!

The mud thing will be dirty, but we plan on having a few beers before we go and they give you free drinks afterwards, so its a girls night out, dirty style. We are a fun bunch, all from my old neighborhood, and when we go out, we go all out. Last time we went bowling for one of the birthdays, had a drop off and pick up driver, we got so toasted, we couldn't pick up the bowling ball any more, so we played pool and one of the girls who had way to much sat out on the patio and didn't want to be talked to, so we left her there and checked on her every few min. When we got in the car she was cold but I wouldn't give her my coat cause I knew she would puke on it, I am still hearing it to this day! And she did puke, but we pulled over in time, thank god. It was a really fun night till the puking part!

As for Delilah, shes next on the list and we will keep two of the piglets. I was told mamas and baby boys cant mate. Pinky eats ALOT now too, we are going thru 50 lb bags like nothing these days. He is getting so big, he scares me, he could grab my leg and bite it right off if he wanted to. Hope he never would but you never know.

I like being on top of the food chain, not part of the food chain.

Hi guys. Looks like we may be moving in a few months. I don't want to, though. Hubs interviewed for a job in, of all places, Pecos, TX! He's going to look it over on Tuesday, with the owner. Son and I checked it out yesterday on the net. It looks like hell on earth. It's SO far in the sticks, there aren't even any sticks. BUT...it's a good job, with good bennies.

Hard Eight, if you've ever been there or know anything about it, let me know. A few people I talked to last night confirmed my fears about the place.

Please, if anyone is lurking that's ever been there, I really need something good about the town. I'm hoping the little bit that's on the web just doesn't tell the good about it.

Poor Pete. If you have beers, he'll be accused of drugging you and putting your body in a bag awaiting disposal after he finishes his sinister activities with you. If I were him, I'd run from that one. HAHAHA.

Sounds like when you have fun you go all out to have fun. I hope you have a great time.

That does cast a different light on Pinky. It's so hard to make logical decisions when emotions come in. It's good you can realize the logic and your safety means more than anything. Still feel sad for him, but wouldn't feel at all sad for him, but it would be a horrible way to go, either bleeding to death or being eaten alive. I've heard it can happen too.

You sound stressed TB. Have you ever been to the town? What is it that concerns you the most?

From a quick internet scan, it looks like a quaint, charming little town. Low population, low cost of living, crime rate doesn't look bad, majority white, some native americans, weather doesn't look bad most of the year, and a population that averages 1 per square mile.

I wouldn't like being that close to a desert, but I'm not a desert person.

The important thing to remember though, is that wherever your husband, family and loved ones are, that's home. I'd rather be anywhere with someone I loved, than somewhere alone without love. If you go, hang your hat, bury your skepticism, and spread all that love you're so full of. It'll be a happy home in no time.

With your personality, you'll have new friends and new relationships real fast. It doesn't mean it's forever. Homes can change. Good husbands aren't easy to come by. Wishing the best for you TB, as always.

I AM stressed! It's about an hour and a half from anything, shopping, entertainment, hospitals, etc. Most of the houses we saw on Google streetview were very old (in worse shape than ours), had bars on the windows and it looked like everything was just dirt! Rattlers and scorpions, too. I'm really hoping to get some GOOD info about the town. That's why I made a thread. So far no takers.

Thread: Hey Texans! Need some help. Anyone ever been to Pecos?

I'd be stressed too, but you're already doing the right thing by finding out about it before jumping into it.

I wouldn't like rattlers and scorpions either, but there are dangers anywhere. How prevalent are they? Is it something you're going to have to watch out for on a daily basis, or something that you come across once in a while?

They don't seem to have many houses for sale. That might be a good thing. Maybe people are happy there and don't want to sell?

In town, I found this one story brick house. No climbing stairs to trudge up to bed. Looks like a decent size yard and outbuilding.3 bedroom, 2 bath and a good price.
[link to www.trulia.com]

Maybe you'd be happier at a little town nearby, or out in the country. This looks like a wonderful place. 200 acres, pool, nice house, but bigger price. Maybe if you didn't want all that land, he'd take a lot less for less acreage. Maybe you'd want it to open a campground, shooting range, all kinds of opportunities.
[link to www.landwatch.com]

I know, TB. I know. But if you step back from it and relax for a time, you might see it from a different perspective. Or find another option you'd both like? Hoping and praying for the best for all of you.

Thx, Nine's. My thread is getting people that live around there. Maybe it won't be SO bad.

The hotel owner is going to buy a house that we'll live in. It'll be in town. That's why I don't know about my babies, yet. To be determined. I saw that house, too. There's also a re-po that might be ok with a better price. We'll find out soon. The job is a good opportunity, so I don't want to be a b***h about it.

At least...tornadoes are rare, but eq's aren't.

edit* There AREN'T any little towns near by. That's the problem!

SO, have the fires in your area died down so you aren't getting so much smoke? Was listening to a late nite radio program and they were talking about how bad it was, hard to breathe, and it sounded real bad. Can't imagine trying to breathe that, much less doing anything outdoors. I thought of you and wondered how it's affecting you and hope it's better now.

What are your reasons for not wanting to go? Is it farther from family? Is it the unknown town? Is it the desert type climate? You have been military, so I know you would be open to moving and weighing the options. Go with your heart as well as your brain. Is it a better life for you? These are just the random things that pop into my brain. I wish you the best whatever you decide. hf

It's still bad. Some days are worse than others depending on the wind. It's over 50,000 acres now that are on fire. The worst one is only 15% contained. They say it will be this way till the rains come. Hoping for rain. I'm a small percentage cherokee so maybe I should do a rain dance! lol

Re: Coffee Klatch
SO, have the fires in your area died down so you aren't getting so much smoke? Was listening to a late nite radio program and they were talking about how bad it was, hard to breathe, and it sounded real bad. Can't imagine trying to breathe that, much less doing anything outdoors. I thought of you and wondered how it's affecting you and hope it's better now.
 Quoting: Nine's

It's still bad. Some days are worse than others depending on the wind. It's over 50,000 acres now that are on fire. The worst one is only 15% contained. They say it will be this way till the rains come. Hoping for rain. I'm a small percentage cherokee so maybe I should do a rain dance! lol

That's terrible. Can't be doing anyone good breathing that. Bet it even seeps into the house. I'll be hoping for rain right along with you. Try not to stay out in it too much.

I wish you the best whatever you decide. hf

Hey guys! Just got home and everyone settled, except for Digger. Seems she might be in heat again and wandered off. I think she came home in the middle of the night to eat and then left again. I'm hoping to catch her is she shows up tonight. She's been gone for 2 days.

The only real reason I don't want to go is the town itself. We looked it up on Google street view. It's extremely poor. There aren't any stores except a Wallie, an Auto Zone, a couple of convenience stores, a hardware, a couple of others we couldn't see the name of. Basically, from what I can find out from people that have been there, it's a small, poor Mexican town in the states. Meth is a problem too.

The town square looks ok, but most of the stores look empty. It's just almost a ghost town. Hubs and the owner are going there tomorrow, so I guess I'll know something else tomorrow night.

There a couple of good things, though. They are known for their cantaloupes! Heaven!

I will FINALLY throw out most of the junk I've been hanging on to.

Bad thing. I don't think I'll be able to take the critters with us. We'll be living in town in a house owned by the owner.

Other bad thing. We'll be farther from the kids and there is NO reason to go there, except to visit us. They probably won't, knowing the spouses.

Isn't that the truth! I'd hate to think of being in that position. Really tough choices.

No she doesn't! Youngest is staying here, so dogs can stay here. They like him and he likes them. Cats, on the other hand... At least I can find homes for them.

OH THANK GOODNESS!!! I've been so worried about them...and you. It would be really hard for you to not have them, but at least you could still see them and know they were taken care of. What a load off my mind.

Now that the ones who can't speak for themselves have been accounted for, let's move on to you. LOL.

Still think you'd be pretty lonesome without them. Even more without getting to visit the grand babies as much. Maybe another offer will come that gets you closer to them in a place you both like. I hope.

I'm sure we'll all be waiting to hear what happens tomorrow. Maybe he'll go and flat out hate it and not want to go. Whatever happens, I hope you'll end up liking it.

Well, here's the latest thinking. The owner likes to find his best employees and move them to better positions. We're hoping this is a training/test situation. If all goes well, we might still get the hotel we want. It's not available yet, anyway. Pecos may be temporary....I hope!!!
