California's Lake Oroville Main Spillway Severely Damaged/Eroded. Oroville Dam's Recently Reconstructed Main Spillway Fundamentally Flawed

Last year, my olive harvest (that I process for oil) was a bust. This year, it is looking like it will be a great harvest. Peppers are doing well also. Tomatoes going crazy.

I have already canned umpteen pints of salsa, spaghetti sauce, BBQ sauce and chili. It is amazing what 46+ inches of rain can do.

The reservoir is now 20' down from spilling over.

As to jerk above... Juan? I am kept updated regularly by the folks above I work with.. and that dam continues to be in trouble... and its a good thing they are lowering the level.. I assume some of that is related to Irrigation needs.. I have no followed Oroville in the summer on irrigation..

They cannot safely use the spillway... I don't remember what the level of the spillway is right now... the green and the abutment at the area where the dam SEAMS with the abutment with the spill pillways is continuing to have problems.. there has been green before there but I don't know if there are any pics from this summer on it. it has shown leakage before.. since the 2017 spillway failure.

Thing is, unless they pick up the outflow, which it appears they can not, they will go into the next rainy season with the lake already above 800 feet. There really needs to be serious discussion NOW.

Gates are expired. It is practically illegal to operate this dam.

One thing I am certain of... You really love us here. Otherwise, why are you so concerned with us believing you? I'm flattered that you have such high regard for us. With all this time and energy you use daily to check the dam and read every post. I know it's exhausting but keep it up. One-day someone might actually give a shit what you think.

They know the truth.

They have to save face and above all avoid lawsuits. They also need a so called act of God to get FEMA money for people below.

I think the dam will be breached this winter. There is no time to fix gates or build new ones. When I say breach I mean maybe during a quake they will set something off near the top to start a slower leak that hopefully will give some folks downstream time to get higher. Or maybe they will start an internal leak by the spillway that erodes slowly because the hill is pretty rocky. But whatever they do, they have to pass blame so I expect it to happen in conjunction with a quake. Blame the original builders for constructing on a fault.

Just my speculation...PrayandPrepare.

Yellowstone cannot erupt at all.... it is a massive caldera way below that collects magma coming up in that huge bag so to speak... bag is not the word I want.. but I am tired... Ok reservoir.....

it then pumps the magma out thru many lava tubes to well more than 1/2 the USA .. its a heat pump... the volcanos on the western us can erupt from that but not Yellowstone.
