I'm not Rex but let me take a stab at it for you. Hurricanes go through cycles in which they gain in strength and then weaken somewhat. When this occurs it is referred to as an eye wall replacement cycle. It's just part of what they do. Additionally weakening can occur if dry air invades the hurricane system and that is what Rex was observing as a possibility. Dry air is a hurricanes enemy as it robs it of it's energy. Then of course, there is wind shear which you may have heard of that can cause a storm to change tracks, slow down or even weaken. If wind shear is strong enough it can tear a hurricane apart. Some people have pumps because their water level is below their sump system like in a basement. Usually a sewer system is gravity fed. Problem is the main pumps at the sewer plant will go out and the filth will backup into the system and eventually into your home... |
