My question is why do don’t any alarms go off why didn’t any of the fail safes work? There not saying how anything about how it happened except that the fbi and the ntsb are investigating. Dot Never ever switch on a light if you smell something odd as regards gas. We used to run low power tizzy in tunneling. We got fed up though as to power going out in that dark place. Three foot fookin three and a foot O'water in every drive. Twelve hours O'dat fookin shit gets ya to take notice... Aye, power O'London fookin town as Paddy dug to relieve yer fookin shitz. I suspect that the odorant that is added to natural gas was "accidently" left out. You don't smell it after a while, like working at a garbage dump. Oh noze indeed as you developed a nose for this thing. Three foot three, four by two way down there makes me a product of that canary in the fookin mine. The odorant as far as I know is added afterfact but methane is quite distinctive.. Aye. Ya just develop a nose of sorts. The additive Mercaptan is added at the refinery so that it by the time it makes it to the residence, it should always be detected. I've worked as a gas fitter for a few years and the smell of rotten eggs is something i never get used to It's all my head, I know So they tell me so Until my head explodes Until my headache goes |

Terrebonne User ID: 76867093 United States 09/13/2018 09:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Breaking MAJOR GAS EXPLOSION Quoting: Kek the Winged Hussar Lawrence Ma and surrounding towns reporting a major gas leak. At least 15 building fires active right now. Many injured. Some houses have been blown to pieces. [link to twitter.com (secure)] Doesn't seem like it could be "a gas leas" going into different towns?? Your correct, this does not sound right to have a gas leak to travel that much of distance. High pressure mains are not usually set in residential neighborhoods. What normally happens, if the main drop pressure suddenly there are protections, when a major pressure drop in the line the station sensors would automatically shut down the fuel immediately. The only other time that something like this happened was in San Bruno CA.. I'm looking at this from the perspective of some one who work many years in the LNG and propane industry. San Bruno pipeline explosion The San Bruno pipeline explosion occurred at 6:11 pm PDT on September 9, 2010, in San Bruno, California, a suburb of San Francisco, when a 30-inch (76 cm) diameter steel natural gas pipeline owned by Pacific Gas & Electric exploded into flames in the Crestmoor residential neighborhood 2 mi (3.2 km) west of San Francisco International Airport near Skyline Boulevard and San Bruno Avenue. The loud roar and shaking led some residents of the area, first responders, and news media to initially believe that it was an earthquake or that a large jetliner had crashed. It took crews nearly an hour to determine it was a gas pipeline explosion. As of September 29, 2010, the death toll was eight people. The United States Geological Survey registered the explosion and resulting shock wave as a magnitude 1.1 earthquake. Eyewitnesses reported the initial blast "had a wall of fire more than 1,000 feet high". [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] INFJ; We are the protectors. |

I guess the water heaters and things with open jets could have blow torched causing fire in homes. Not all points. Example: furnaces. They turn off and on automatically. To do this they have to be easy to turn. These could have weaker areas that would leak. I may be confused, but I am not an idiot. |

NYC-Beat Reporter User ID: 49467465 United States 09/13/2018 10:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I dont see how they could blow up 100+ buildings by just fkn with the gas lines. Quoting: MaxwellSmart007 They couldnt even pressurize it become the polypropylene pipe they use wouldn't hold the pressure. It would pop somewhere in the line outside the buildings killing the flow to the buildings. Actually, here in the northeastern U.S., MOST (not all) gas meters are INSIDE houses, usually in the basement. The gas pipe that comes in from the street is strong non-flex steel pipe, which connects to the main gas meter in the basement. That's where the shut-off valves are (one pre-meter, one post-meter.) So the only possible flexible piping would be inside the houses, and AFTER the meter. I can also tell you that the ONLY place that flexible gas pipe is allowed to be used is to a stove or to a gas-heated clothing dryer. All other gas pipe connections must be non-flex steel. So it seems to me that what happened here is that the pressure went up so high, it blew out the regulators in the gas meters themselves; filled up all or part of the basement, and BOOM. Of course, I'm just speculating based on my own personal experience. I know that when I lived in DeKalb County Georgia for a few years, the gas meters were OUTSIDE. |
