I always liked the way Seagal fought (on film), never kicking above your own waist and no crazy throws, but this is a demo.

This is not in any way real, the guy in the white gi top was going with it.

I was taking JKD and knew someone who was taking Aikido. Everyone liked the guy - I thought he was a con artist.

He told me he met an Aikido master that would beat anyone in a fight ... he was on the same level as Bruce Lee or Muhammad Ali. He said he could take me in a fight without touching me. He said you can’t touch him - his powers over the energy force around him you can’t get through.

I found a video of the guy ... in a demonstration, some young Kung Fu guy steps up and knocks the fucker out with one punch. There goes that con.

Three points.

1. I have trained with Aikido guys that are the real deal. While it may not be as usable as western wrestlng/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, it still can produce very good martial artists.

2. The charlatans in this video occur in every martial art on the planet, not just Aikido. It truly comes down to the artist, not the art.

3. Seagal is easy to make fun of, but he is a real life badass. There s a reason MMA legend Anderson Silva pays respect to him.

Seagal is almost 67 years old and is overweight. I'm sure he has a black belt in martial arts, but he is going against opponents that are over half his age and weight. For a 67 year old dude, he looks pretty good even if it is for show...

but he was not above telling tall tales.

Or stuntmen. They said Seagal could hurt them when practicing their moves. Obviously, the man has no concept of pain or he's just a coward that can't stand the thought of being beaten.
