You guys...this is no small potatoes. The U.S. dumped millions or even billions of tons of nuclear waste in those waters decades ago. Hell...they may still be dumping there. Now, that material has, as many have suspected and as I have proposed we would one day see happen, been sucked down into the earth's crust, melted down, and is now being poured out back into our waters in a new form. Our oceans are sick and they are tired. Our seas are stricken by our abuse.

Hierro's eruption, having been as quiet as it was kept, may now be one of the loudest events to ever occur. To see these findings means someone is going to have to answer for this. NOW we know why this whole situation was being kept so underwraps. Someone knew what would be exposed if too much light got cast on this event.

One of the greatest confusions and mysteries to Hierro's eruption last year was the crazy green goo that stretched for hundreds of miles south and west of the Island of Hierro during the eruptive process. NOBODY to this day has released what that green goo actually was or what it consisted of. Now that nuclear radioactive material has been found I think we now know why the source or content of that goo has never been released.

Thread: OLD NUCLEAR WASTE DUMP SITE OFF EL HIERRO! OMG!


The United States used to use the coastal waters of El Hierro as a nuclear dumping ground. The idea that our nuclear waste has been drawn into the subversion plates, burnt down into the magma and then redistributed through El Hierro's underwater eruption is quite a possible scenario!

Wonder how long La Palma seismographic charts will be down? Radioactive DOOM pending.

A 2.4, just 3km deep...that's 1.8 miles approximately. VERY shallow.

Hi Gizzie..

I make it a hard rule for myself to never predict what may happen on El Hierro. But as far as seizmic activity goes, for many weeks, there has been nothing that I (me personally) would call a major event. The seismic activity has been fairly low. Up and down, up and down...like that for many weeks. The 'ups' being fairly small quakes (with a few exceptions), and the 'downs' being little or no quakes. I don't know that anyone could tell you what is going to happen there. Right now, the activity seems to be staying at a fairly low level. But there isn't any real way to say what will happen next month, next week, or even 5 minutes from now. It might stay fairly calm or there could be a major earthquake. No one can know for sure. That is part of what facinates me about the Canaries.
There has been some fairly impressive deformations over the weeks though. Idgits would be the one to talk about that though. Certainly not me.

Idgits could answer your questions much better than I. He is much more knowledgable than I. What I have said is strictly my own, very humble, opinion.

- A third earthquake happened at 07:11 at a depth of 14 km. Magnitude M1.8. Epicenter here

- IGN has not changed the depth of the 01:37 earthquake. Because no other events were reported in the same area, we maintain our opinion that the earthquake was triggered by deformation stresses.
- A second earthquake occurred at 11:12 at a depth of 21 km. Magnitude : M1.6. Epicenter (as the depthgives a clue, just south of the lighthouse)

That looks more like harmonic vibrations...magmatic flow. Not so much shaking as it is humming.

Important Update 13/08 – 16:26 UTC
After a period of relative weak to very weak seismic activity, the magma below El Hierro looks to start another episode as we cannot relate the 6 earthquakes today as stress phenomena. The epicenter of the earthquakes were in between 10 and 14 km, which means that if seismicity today is generated by magma, we have a totally different situation than at the end of June when we constantly has epicenters below 20 km. The location of the epicenters today where also different as the majority was located in the El Golfo Bay and a few others below the island and in the Las Calmas sea.
6 earthquakes so far today is not revolutionary, but at least interesting to give it a close watch
- The seismogram at CHIE does not confirm an increase of the activity, but this can change swiftly as we know from the recent past

It is horrible this year, the driest year ever, 40+ degrees (in the mountains) for a long time and a strong wind. A lot of forests have been burnt, fortunately no human injuries. La Gomera is such a unspoiled beautiful island. We have our fingers crossed for a good rainy winter. The pin-trees recover quite fast if thee is enough rain. Lets hope no volcanis outburst on top of it!

God likes to torture? The people of Gomera are very religious, go to the church every week not like a lot of other so called religious people that only go with Christmas. I ask myself, isn´t there a better place to show his anger?

I'm sorry to hear they are having such a rough go of it. It seems this year, there are so many places around the earth having these very dry, drought conditions and fires. The damage has been extensive in many parts of the world. It is such a shame.

Thank you, the worst part is that some of these fires have been set alight by someone, at least here at La Palma. Some sick person who called anonymously to warn for more. I hope they will catch him! A friend has a dogs' home and has his hands full at the moment.
