Looks like you're getting massive wrap around, Saddletramp. The low is down towards Carlsbad, I think. We're just getting little fingers of returns. Nothing yet. Our update basically said there is no update now. It's still the same. Our snow is supposed to really get going around 6 am.
 Quoting: Texan Buckeye

Yeah, we're getting ours right now and through tomorrow, supposed to start tapering off tomorrow evening...

Looks like it's gonna come a good-un'...

They just changed our forecast, now 10 to 17 inches of snow, possibly more in some area's...
 Quoting: Saddletramp

I hope you have a snow shovel..or enough beer so you can stay in the house until it all melts!
 Quoting: CowgirlK

Well the cows are fed and in a pasture with good cover, and I put out extra hay for the horses, so feeding will go pretty quick tomorrow, I'll most likely hole up and watch some movies...

If the power goes out, I'll crank up the wall heaters and break out the board games...

When you live as far out in the sticks as I do, you don't fret this stuff much, nothing you can do about it anyway...

I'll love all this snow come May when the grass is greening up and the baby calves are playing!
 Quoting: Saddletramp

I figured as much. I know you are prepared! I don't know what your skies look like right now but I just went outside and that is one creepy full moon. The temp has dropped, the winds are starting to blow and the moon has rings around it that look like a rainbow!
 Quoting: CowgirlK

Moon halo's are like sun dogs, sure signs of rain...or snow...

We've just started getting the little pellet snow. Not much, but enough to see little patches in the yard in the dark.

That's what I was thinking. I spend half my life looking at the sky. You know...a girl with her head in the clouds.. (lol)

Anyway, I know that rings around the moon mean a change in weather..but this moon's rings are very strange. It sort of hurts your eye when you look at it.

BTW...that picture is strictly point and shoot. No alterations or any kind.

That's cool, I'm with Legion, I've never seen a rainbow halo like that, but usually you see those halos when it's either really sticky humid or freezing ass cold, and I mean single digit type cold...

That's far out...

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 6 am for areas along and west of a line from Jacksboro...Stephenville...to Goldthwaite. A line of showers and thunderstorms in The Hill Country will continue moving east early this morning. The activity may reach areas from Comanche to Goldthwaite around 3 am. The stronger storms may become severe with large hail and damaging winds. Another area of showers and thunderstorms is impacting areas from Aspermont to Vernon. The individual cells are racing to the northeast...but the activity will gradually translate to the east. This precipitation areas may reach areas from Graham and Olney... to Bowie and Nocona...after 3 am.

Guys, I found this video that just may be what we need. If you think it's disrespectful, let me know and I'll delete it. It's kind of long, 8 minutes, but it's really beautiful AND has historic film of the dance.

Hey Buckeye..I'm fixing to call it a night pretty soon too. (I hope) I have a female dog who went into heat and a male that's going crazy. If he doesn't quit fussing soon, I'm libel to pour a couple of stiff drinks and band him. Then he will never have to work himself into a frenzy over a female ever again!!! Thank God that I'm not in an area that's about to be snowed in with these darn dogs or I would go insane.

Looks like the roads are getting bad now.

Sleep well my friend and check back in with us in the morning. Thanks for the sticking around for the blizzard party! Louisiana is getting hit pretty hard with severe storms tonight too. The storm hitting Texas and Oklahoma will head north over the next few days all the way into Canada. I have a feeling its going to be a long weather week.

Am in Tecumseh, OK storm starting to move in here, rain for now, then snow. This storm is still expanding.

We sure do need rain from a summer that had temps of 111 degrees and no rain. Hey, I'll welcome it!

Getting dogs settled for bed, including a stray we have take in, someone dumped him and he is a sweet dog. Another casualty of ignorance, selfishness and poverty as is typical here.

Thanks for the storm updates, Man! Everyone stay warm, dry and safe.

Here in Lubbock, we had a heavy band of snow pellets move through around 12:45 that quickly coated grassy areas. It has since melted and left the roads wet. Temperature is hovering right around freezing, so next dose of heavy precip should start sticking. I've been here in Lubbock since 1989 and this is the first blizzard warning I can remember. I'm loving it, because we desperately need the moisture, but I feel like we're going to have a ton of accidents tomorrow due to the ridiculous amount of bad drivers in this city.
