per TWC, western eye wall is very close to hitting Wilmington NC. It has now slowed down to 4mph. Will this thing stall out like Harvey did?

New Bern Public Information officer reports water rescues from water reaching lower stairs, covering mailboxes, from cars, breeching up to second storys.
People have been rescued from roofs.

Guy just called into the weather channel from New Bern, NC. Said he's at a higher elevation compared to the area where the water rescues are happening and the river is now 50 feet from his house. He lives 200-250ft from the river and is getting ready to go to his upstairs. Also trees are falling down in Wilmington.

The Twitter page says there's a group of 200 homeowners who have uninhabited lover-level garages. They expect flooding every few years as the cost of living so near the water. Then they rebuild after the storm. So they've been through this quite a few times already.

Louisiana Cajon Army already moving in to New Bern- - starting staging now. Have had several hundred calls for rescues.
Still too much wind to launch the boats- 70-75 mph gusts.

Now on CNN. The lady calling, her family is trapped in the attic in New Bern. And Coumo is trying to help her. If police will not come save them, CNN will, says Coumo.

This could just go on for a day or more if the hurricane just parks itself off the coast.

I think it's going to get alot uglier (as far as the flooding goes) in the next 24 hours.

In Wilmington, half-way between beach and downtown on Market street. Hotel is getting power washed at the moment with the eye-wall. Looking at radar and seems like we'll be in this for another hour possibly before eye reaches us. THE WALL is kickin!! Seeing transformers blowing in the distance so probably lose power anytime. Will talk in the eye if possible and hunker down further for the backside!

Looks like the eyewall is about to make landfall!
