Time to say goodbye for volcano-thank you for all support :) this seems to say there was little or no movement of the west flank since the 1949 eruption....and nothing's erupted since yet. Quoting: a passing cloud [link to www.sciencedirect.com (secure)] it would take a tremendous eruption to break it loose...cracks or not. As it stands the eruptions are in the wrong place to trigger the collapse. You'll need to see a line of eruptions up the middle of the island which then over days super heat the water trapped between the basalt towers. Its the increasing pressure from the super heated water which could collapse the basalt and take the flank with it. |

Time to say goodbye for volcano-thank you for all support :) It would be very interesting if solar activity influenced the volcanic activity. I don't know if I would say 'its doom over' at this point. Quoting: Glaxnor The volcano watch alert was for 72 hours. Not 8 hours. Plenty of time for doom later. I am still seeing quite a bit of activity in the area, although I can't get the updated charts of the activity to show. Those were pretty. It's still holding its earlier levels about 8 minor quakes an hour. One was 7 km deep. I'm no seismologist but it would make the most sense to me that a calm before the storm type pause would precede an eruption. Considering all the events we have seen across the globe already in 2021 and what appears to be dark winter doom looming not even halfway through Sept, this would only make sense to happen now. They need a mass casualty event to bring the masses to their knees ahead of fullscale shot enforcement. If it isn't in The Bible then it is just conspiracy theory. |

Time to say goodbye for volcano-thank you for all support :) ... Quoting: Eyeball Replacement How are you going to survive 100ft plus waves if you’re out to sea in a small boat? Doesn’t seem logical. Or are you saying get out to sea and ahead of things prior to the event? The waves miles and miles out to sea are nothing but a ripple they don't become large until they get within 10 miles of the coast. the slope of the inland route controls the height of the wave. The retreating water near the shore is what turns into the turbulent height. You're looking at waves anywhere from 75' tall to 300' Righ. The waves don't always become huge flat faced cresting waves either...depends upo the abruptness of the runup. Shelf dropoffs creat big faced cresting waves... From Link: [link to www.nationalgeographic.com (secure)] "• A tsunami may be less than a foot (30 centimeters) in height on the surface of the open ocean, which is why they are not noticed by sailors. But the powerful shock wave of energy travels rapidly through the ocean as fast as a commercial jet. Once a tsunami reaches shallow water near the coast it is slowed down. The top of the wave moves faster than the bottom, causing the sea to rise dramatically." Heading out to open ocean might not be a bad strategy. If you leave far enough ahead of time. 9 hours is plenty of time to get out of FL. I’m basing this on others’ ignorance of on-going events for most of the drive. This allows you to high-tail it up an interstate ( tho I’d probably take the turnpike as it’s in the middle of the state) and be pretty far north before the panicking hoardes catch on that something is wrong and take to the highways. |

Time to say goodbye for volcano-thank you for all support :) I don't think they would tell anybody me until the highways are full. One thing you can do right now is open your Google maps and save maps offline of the areas that you will move through to evacuate. This will come in handy if or when mobile data is swamped during aass evacuation. In Florida, if you are on west coast get to Gainesville then hit 441 if time is tight, that runs through Starke which should be safe zone as it's highest elevation in Florida. In Florida if you are on the east coast, turnpike to I-95 from south Florida will put you on a path to intercept the wave unless you are running 90+ you really need to push 120 for the first 4 hours to make up enough time and that's if you know with a full 7hours. Try to get north of Orlando and head inward. You have 2 routes to do this, come up i-95 and use highway 16 to cross the st Johns at the last bridge until Jacksonville 295 bypass. If you pass 16 you better have 2 hours of time. If you have a vehicle behind you attempting to go faster, pull way over for them and let them open her up. Speed limits do not matter in an evacuation, they should be regarded as the bare minimum speed to maintain. Old people will still be like old people. Unfortunately these slow safe drivers will kill you and should be pitted immediately to the ditch for the safety (time) of others, sometimes Darwin needs a push. You can fix that bumper and likely it's just a NPC trying to get Google maps to load the same as everyone else. Use both lanes as west/north bound. The route will get packed easy but it's better than being stuck through Jacksonville. If you are below Daytona beach just after the I-4 interchange coming up i-95 get off of the Ormond beach exit head away from the beach, right at the second stoplight onto the road that will save your life. You can safely run 130mph if there's no traffic up through the national forest. It's a 2 lane but not many side roads so traffic flows like the interstate. I call it my hidden turnpike, with laser countermeasures and radar installed (I'm a speed bug with 0 license points so it must be working) I regularly maintain a 90+mph average, 130mph In a top end Lexus, honestly, it feels like Sunday driving. I digress. If you are close to the coasts, you have my secrets on fast Florida travel to the higher ground areas. Use my advice and avoid the jam of traffic, or at least if you get stuck you will be in higher elevation areas. Best of luck my homies. |

Time to say goodbye for volcano-thank you for all support :) It's pretty calm, but it did pop off five small ones from 7:56 to 8:31. --- For those wondering about whats happening, the experts on the island put them on a 72 hour volcano watch. That was maybe 24 hours ago. I was expecting nothing until 2 hours from now, at the earliest. --- Poole, can people influence something like this? It's very possible, but I have to guess that it's more likely the 3.9 one (which was downgraded to 3.5) was something big breaking down there and now the magma is pushing through. But I have to be honest, while this is very fun, I have absolutely no real experience in predicting a volcano's behavior. It would make sense as most of the activity was on the south side and it has migrated north of the original spot after that big 3.9'r. --- Regardless I just discovered I love watching volcanoes! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80106886 The animation a few pages back shows most of Florida under water, or completely underwater if the slide is big enough. Best bet is to get on a boat and get out to sea. How are you going to survive 100ft plus waves if you’re out to sea in a small boat? Doesn’t seem logical. Or are you saying get out to sea and ahead of things prior to the event? Might just be a 2-3 ft sudden swell out in a coupla thousand feet of ocean. Check out displacements necessary to detect Hawaii tsunami's a few thousand miles out.... Of course that 3 foot swell would look strange since it'd be moving 500-600 MPH. That 3 ft. high wall of water might break up your boat at that speed. Probably will. |
