Quoting: SHR Why would the people who are ANTI hydrocarbon energy be in any sort of rush to restore HC generated energy?...they won't be...They also won't be in any hurry to rebuild or restore any homes that were along a shore or beach, they would much rather see those properties never rebuilt. They will be much happier seeing these places never return. So they will have the insurance companies and the Federal govt pay the people off and have them go elsewhere, like it or not. No utilities the properties will be condemmed, the former owners either bought out or paid off, shuffled away and in a few months it'll be more difficult to return than stay wherever they are. This. One of the most shocking things about the election was how much BHO's photo op with Christie impacted the vote. For 15% of the morans out there it was the #1 issue! All while FEMA can't get water to people and they are still finding bodies!! IDIOCRACY. Well, the Messiah told them he was taking care of everything. Even Fat Bastard (movie character) Christie bought it. If this is how Obama treats his main base of supporters, just imagine what it will be like for the rest of us! In a disaster, it couldn't get much worse as I am sure you remember as well, Snark, from your flooding. Me from our torandoes. So really we have nothing to lose because we know he won't do anything for us from the beginning. Obama came to Alabama after the bad tornadoes that tore up a big amount of central and north area, the Governor met with him, then he was gone. It was a photo op we did most of the clean up, FEMA said houses were liveable when there was only a foundation left, so you know how they helped. Don't be so hard on Christie, he did what most governors do, even if he is more liberal than most republicans. We never saw Obama here in the northern part of the state. Bin Laden was killed and Obama was too busy spiking the ball to even remember we existed. One of the most important aspects of conspiracy theories is being able to discern when there isn't one. Oh yeah, like you'd understand anyway. Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?. . .J. Handy |

Aren't people insured over there? We regularly get flooding events in the UK (obviously not on the scale of Sandy) but peoples living expenses, whether it be rented property or hotel is covered by insurance. Often it will take 12 months for a house to dry out and have the necessary repairs, particularly from the sewage which most often gets backed up into the flood waters and that is without structural damage. |

Yep. Remember the secret conversation that Obama had with the Russians, where he, "just needed a little more time." Well, he's got it now. I wonder what that deal is going to turn out to be. how come the report about two attack class subs being parked off the eastern seaboard is mute? Defense: The fruit of unilateral disarmament, appeasement and promised "flexibility" patrols our East Coast near one of our largest ballistic missile submarine bases. Defense cuts and Russian subs — a double whammy. 'On June 1 or a bit later, we will resume constant patrolling of the world's oceans by strategic nuclear submarines," Russian Navy Commander Admiral Vladimir Vysotsky said in February. Keeping that promise, a Russian Sierra-2 class nuclear attack submarine cruised within 200 miles of our East Coast on the eve of a U.S. presidential election in which defense spending and priorities were a key issue. This is the first time a Russian Sierra-2 class sub, believed to be based with Russia's Northern Fleet and armed with SSN anti-submarine warfare missiles and torpedoes, has been detected near the U.S. coast, reports Bill Gertz of the Washington Free Beacon. "As was their primary mission during the Cold War, Russian SSNs nuclear attack submarines would likely be trying to track U.S. nuclear missile submarines deploying from Kings Bay, Ga., and to monitor U.S. naval deployments from Norfolk, Va.," according to Richard Fisher, a military analyst with the International Assessment and Strategy Center. Two guided missile submarines and six nuclear missile submarines are docked at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base. The Sierra-2 is comparable to the U.S. Los Angeles-class attack submarine. Russia is building a new class of attack submarines said to be comparable to the latest U.S. Virginia-class subs, Fisher says. The attack sub was accompanied by a nearby Russian electronic intelligence-gathering vessel that was granted safe harbor during Hurricane Sandy in the commercial port of Jacksonville, Fla., within listening range of Kings Bay. Russian nuclear sub patrols, which fell sharply after the defeat of the Soviet Union, have returned with a vengeance after the famous pressing of the "reset" button by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. As we've noted, a more advanced and harder-to-detect Russian Akula-class attack submarine sailed undetected in the Gulf of Mexico in August along vital U.S. shipping lanes. So as we gut our military budget and scrap major weapons systems, Russia continues to rearm. It recently announced the deployment of a new submarine-launched ballistic missile — a three-stage weapon with a 5,000-mile range that can carry up to 10 warheads. The U.S. Navy has indicated a need for 313 ships to fulfill its obligations, while the Quadrennial Defense Review Independent Panel recommended a fleet of 346 ships. If current budget cuts aren't reversed and sequestration of defense funds mandated by the Budget Control Act remain in place, the Navy will shrink to 238 vessels and would lose two carrier battle groups.
