NOT ONE SHOWED JESUS, MARY, JOSEPH, THE WISE MEN, A NATIVITY, A STAR OF BETHLEHEM.

THERE WERE NO RELIGIOUS CARDS WHATSOEVER EITHER.

I was just in Walgreens and there were more jesus related christmas cards than non-jesus related. I DO happen to live in the south, but still.

Stop and think for a minute. A whopping **73%** of the people in this country identify themselves as christian, and a good percentage of those people would be categorized as the "wild-eyed jesus freaks" (take a quick look at the front page of this site for confirmation).

Now ask yourself this: Why would companies decide NOT to profit from a GIGANTIC slice of the population? Do they hate money? Are all the department and grocery store owners secretly atheists and they've decided that their godless beliefs are more important than making a profit?

Companies are not going to intentionally do something that loses a TON of money. This is just common sense.

I'm not a christian, but I'd have no problem putting jesus on a mug if I knew a bunch of people would buy it. And I guarantee that business owners feel EXACTLY the same. That's why they are BUSINESS OWNERS and not social activists or something.

Re: Went to Target to get a birthday card today...
I'll agree that political correctness is a bit much these days - if someone wants a card with a manger, let them have manger - if someone wants reindeers, let them have reindeers. Don't underestimate sales figures - if a store thinks it will sell, it will offer it for sale - no matter what's on the card.

BUT, let's get real about Christmas - it's an overlay (hijack) of much earlier pagan celebrations and it was done that way so that the pagans would more easily (in part) convert to Christianity. Does no one study history anymore!!!

Christmas isn't a Christian holiday. It is a pagan holiday in honor of the demon god Mithras. And there never was a Nativity scene. There were no wise men at the manger. Only shepherds. The astrologers didn't show up until Jesus was a young child living in a house. The story is so full of lies. Jesus didn't even celebrate his birthday. No Jews did that as it was a pagan custom.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1550123

The pagans had a holyday for Mthras. Christians have a Holy Day called Christmas. The fall at about the same time of year.

The Pagans didn't have a Christmas Holy day, they had their own.

It's really not a hard concept to grasp.

Just like two different people can have a birthday on the same day. John's birthday doesn't cancel out Mary's birthday.

It is great to send Christ centered/focused Christmas cards to people but it is even better to send them just something maybe handmade with the printed words from scripture and the New Testament for them to read. Pictures are great but the opportunity to send Bible verses listed, whole sections of scripture and all, that is even better. Remember the Bible does say that faith comes be hearing and hearing the Word of God - so downloads some fonts you like put something together to send that you've made. Reading the living breathing word of God is what will pierce their heart and cause them to come to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ - pray then after you send them.

CHRISTmas isn't a CHRISTian?? Okie dokie.

Look - I don't give a fuck if pagans or anyone else also use the same time period for whatever they might be celebrating - more power to them. The pagans and no one else OWN the calendar.

Christians can decide when they want to have their holy days. They don't need to ask pagans, Jews, Hindus or anyone else if the days they choose are all right or not.

YHWH decided what his holy days are. Read Leviticus 23. Note that Yeshua was obediant in celebrating THOSE days. Note that the passion week events fulfilled the prophetic aspect of the spring feasts.

Christians CAN decide when they want to have their holy days. So could the nations of Israel and Judea. Didn't work out so well for them. Choosing to eat pagan cake with "Jesus" frosting is no different.

Thanks for those links, it helps to illustrate why this thread is a great example of people seeing exactly what they want to see.

Then again, it is just as likely an example of someone telling a deliberate lie because they believe the end justifies the means.

Just the opposite There is no biblical mandate to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Nobody even knows when it is! The pagans perverted Christianity and force everyone to celebrate their pagan x-mass solstice holy day. The pagans brought the Christians into their pagan religion e.g. Roman Catholic was born, not christianity.

What? You don't want your kids to celebrate the birth of a man that lived over 2000 years ago, who's image was molded by bored desert dwellers and remolded hundreds of years later by men rewriting a book to form a new world-wide feel-good cult that massacred millions of people? But.. but.. he died for you and I mean it's not as if plenty of people don't die for you daily while they're off fighting a group of corporations bullshit war.

Btw.. if you don't believe in him you will burn in an eternal lake of fire. He loves you. Celebrate the man-gods birthday. He was born in a stable, do you know how shitty stables are?

Then again, this site also has a lot of wackos of other types as well. Which I suppose is what makes it interesting. If the crazies on this site can learn to get along somehow, then I bet we'll have that middle east crisis worked out by the next weekend.
