You know war correspondent stays in five star hotels and doesn't go anywhere near front lines.

Because there was never going to be a cease fire. Hamas puts it out there and builds on it, knowing full well they will not abide by the agreement. They've done it every time, they will try it again. It also gets the world to sympathize with them.

Isreal was hoping, but they knew Hamas was faking it. It's all about perception for Hamas.
