Re: Who else has no presents for their kids tomorrow?
I've done the best I could bu still I could not come up with the money for gifts. So they are not getting the play set / fort they wanted again this year.

We are all alive & healthy, but that's hard to explain to a five & a seven year old.

Anyone else?

parenting fail
 Quoting: Matrix-V

Wow. Screw you! Seriously!!! He's a fail because he is not buying stuff because it's a certain day on the calendar our society has designated as a consumer orgy? Pfft.

Bro- our kids are ages 8 and 7 and we got them...nothing. Our money was spent for things like rent, staple foods, and a little gas for in our truck. We are beyond blessed because this is more than we had a couple months ago. You obviously love your children and care about them. THAT is a gift money can't buy. <3

Tell that to the kids at school that are gonna tease them the whole next year for not getting any christmas presents.
Better yet try tell that to your own kids and see how they react, no matter how you look at it that day bring joy to the kids, bring families together and if that's not a beautiful thing I don't know what is.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30667321

Oh please, these kids won't get teased all next year for not getting presents on some stupid, pagan day.

And how do you not know that other kids are in this same predicament?

Not all kids celebrate xmas and not all kids are going to get presents because people are just trying to put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads.

And when I was in school no one really cared who got presents or not. We talked about it some but wouldn't have teased a person for not getting anything. We would most likely have felt bad and tried to cheer the kid up. There are always good kids who will do this.

Plus, kids get all sorts of stuff throughout the year and really don't need anymore. And if they do then take them after xmas to the SALES. Now that is fun and smart.

No, it is not hard to explain if you believe what it is you tell them to be true.

If you care about how your children perceive things you might explain to them that most of the planet does not even share this holiday, that it has become a western world traditon which of itself is not that old, that the real message of this is different than receiving but of giving, not presents, but of ourswelves, doing something for another.

Kids are awesome, they can grasp this quickly and live it.
 Quoting: Mickeyblue 9806228

Yes, kids are smarter than people give them credit for. We decided long ago to ditch this holiday which really is not about Jesus and told the kids they could receive stuff throughout the year or on just one day. They of course chose to do the gifts throughout the year when they wanted stuff and we could afford it. xmas has now a very relaxing, non-stressful day of the year.

You could start by selling your computer or cutting off your Internet
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4135612

Now that is insane. The internet is very important these days. Better to ditch tv or going out to movies since they can be viewed on the computer.

Another "fail" by my kids father. My youngest got two bags of sunflower seeds.

He has NEVER come through for Christmas or birthdays.

Part of being a good parent is explaining the realities of life. Christmas should be about Christ. Maybe you should be more involved with a local church.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30787543

hilarious.

christmas for me is about the friends, family, and children. I can guarantee, if christ does turn out to be waiting for me in the afterlife, he would be appreciate my outlook.

if christ did turn out to give me shit he would prove himself to be a selfish conceited ass.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 999224

Your take on it is all wrong, Jesus Christ is offering you the gift of eternal life, if you don't take the gift you don't receive it.

Take it or leave it.

It's not about your works.
This entire works religion bs is what is killing this world, the work has been done, IT IS FINISHED as Jesus said.

but that will on be a third of the fort, but building your own stuff that will make for a much grander fort than the ones they sell for $1000.

Re: Who else has no presents for their kids tomorrow?
To everyone who posted here!

I feel this thread is a true blessing. I was trying to convey my feelings about being a less than perfect dad. Money is tight for money people. While I can't get my to boys a fort like I've promised Yet, I will!

For now my three boys are chasing each other through the entire house with their new $3 nerff guns. And we are about to start making Christmas cookies as a family.

You see I feel truly blessed to know my boys came from neglect, and from the worst abuse possible to our loving home. You see their childhood was stolen from them by a monster. They've been with us over a year and have been in foster homes for three years prior to that so you can figure out how old they were when that monster hurt them. They are safe now.

We should all here feel blessed to know who here are the kind decent people, and who here are the cold unfeeling judgmental monsters.

To all of you kind people who like me are struggling to make ends meet. Hang in there. There are more of us than them.

To all the others... May GOD bless you and let you become assured of his existence and love for you.

Like it or not, I am no better than you, and like it or not you are no better than me. I wish I could all help you find compassion & good will this Christmas.

Merry Christmas to all & to all End Thread.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14577918

And another thing, building a home made fort together all of you will be a real bonding experience. Plus it will be just as you like it. Look on the net for fort designs and you will notice the $1000 fort is nothing.

Also another tip get around to places that have wood and ask them for stuff they're throwing away, that can be used for the building.

Used tires and stuff like that could be used as well, sand, dirt etc. all sorts of stuff can be used to build a fort, doesn't have to be wood, you can build it with stones too, now it will be hard work but it's the work that is the fun part.

Re: Who else has no presents for their kids tomorrow?
I remember back to XMas of 1999, my husband had lost his job at Thanksgiving that year, I was at home with a new baby, we had nothing but a pound of hamburger in the freezer for Christmas.

I drove with the kids to the bank to cash a check from the inlaws, xmas gift.. and discovered our account was $40 overdrawn, due to a $50 overdraft fee. PLUS they were unwilling to cash the check because the check came from a bank out of town. Something inside of me just snapped.

Right then and there at the drive through, in front of the cameras, I read them the riot act about the ruthless banking industry. About how I could feed a family of four for a week with that overdraft fee. About how they pretend that the banks are not interconnected electronically, about the ridiculous suggestion that I would have to drive 200 miles to the bank that issued the check in order to cash it.

About how the banks think it's their right to try and buy up the whole world, and dominate the world. I told them that one day, they would get their due. This with the baby crying in the back seat, all caught on camera.

I think I might have ended up on a terrorist watch list that year.

Yes, it's the banks' fault that you're too stupid to manage your own funds.

Typical libtard.

I hope your child is being raised by your ex-husband's new wife.

End of 2009 I had no job, but I had enough money in the bank to live for about 3.1/2 years. All through saving.

Jan 2010, I was lucky and got a great job, its very demanding though and has damaged my health.

Today I have enough money to go about 10 years without working. Now I could have spent that money on big living, new cars etc.

But I am responsible for my life, and I make the decisions to keep me safe. Why cant everyone else do the same?

Re: Who else has no presents for their kids tomorrow?
We had no money to spare apart from food. So last month i joined dooyoo and posted and rated as many reviews as i could. Made £20 and bought a few small prezzies for my toddler. Not that he would of known either way. It doesnt matter if you dont spend tons, just a small dollar present would be nice.
Money is hard but you find ways to make money like i found dooyoo xox

^^^^Wrong!!!^^^^
The world needs more emotion! Computers, smart-phones and the media are creating a lack of empathy! The world is going to shit because no one cares about anyone but themselves.

Quoting my Fave cartoon "Empathy, Empathy. Put yourself in place of me!"

The world is in short supply of common sense and empathy.

OP: It might sound dumb, but you can get pallets for free! We have built many treehouses with them. Just a thought. :)

 Quoting: LittleMomma

These two things cancel each other out, as an example common sense would say stop all immigration as we do not have enough work for our own citizens, but empathy would say let them in , imagine if you were them!

Common sense would stop my country giving billions away in charity, billions that we have to borrow and pay interest on! What would empathy say?

"English lessons" aren't as important as a good and kind heart.
