You're not making any sense. We know ISON's orbit.
 Quoting: Dr. Astro

IM not makeing any sense?
ME?

so when does ISON finish an orbit, and return?
 Quoting: Shadow Beam

It's not returning, it's hyperbolic, that's what it means. It does not mean you "don't know."
 Quoting: Dr. Astro

that is not what Hyperbolic means.
Hyperbolic means a comet has an eccentric orbit and MAY not return.

this because its full orbit is not known

there is no condition of the word hyperbolic that defines a comet WILL NOT return on an orbit path

this is the case with ISON as its origin and start date of current orbit are unknown.

please contest this fact with a reply to my other question

what is the origin of ISONs current orbit?

Re: Does comet ISON have a 333 year orbit?
1014 - Are you denying the historic records of major floods in the UK, Europe and the Eastern USA of that year?
 Quoting: BadMoonRisen

What part of this do you not understand?
Cute, but the comet of 1014 didn't impact us, it was observed after its close approach to earth.
1347 - Superstition? I quote from: A general chronological history of the air, weather, seasons, meteors, etc. in sundry places and different times: more particularly for the space of 250 years: together with some of their most remarkable effects on animal (especially human) bodies and vegetables. by Dr Thomas Short
 Quoting: bad

Yes, I'm sure that's a super reliable account of what happened, complete with blood gushing from the graves of the dead. You literally swallow every bit of superstitious nonsense you read, don't you?
1680 - Are you denying the Great Comet made its appearance?
 Quoting: bad

No, are you trying to put words in my mouth? Yes.
 Quoting: Dr. Astro

chuckle

Mr know-it-all now calls historical records 'superstition'. How very desperate are you.
 Quoting: BadMoonRisen

BadMoonRisen thinks blood was gushing from the graves of the dead like some Sam Raimi horror film. How very gullible of him.
 Quoting: Dr. Astro

What an ignorant comment.

I see more lies from a shill. ISON has a 24,860 year orbit. The Hopis have seen it twice and recorded it.

It is the Blue Kachina Astomut and it is only a few weeks until the world will all know. Was it worth it?

hyperbolic by definition is an open orbit that does not loop back on itself the way other orbits do. ison will be flung far away, never to return again, if it survives the trip around the sun first.

Comet ISON’s Eccentricity

Any object orbiting the Sun in a closed loop has to have an eccentricity between 0 and 1. If that orbit is in a circular fashion like our own planet’s, its eccentricity will be close to 0. Earth’s eccentricity is around 0.017 which means its orbit is very circular (although not perfect)! However, an object with an eccentricity close to 1 could take tens of thousands of years to complete an orbit as the orbit will be very elliptical.

Comet ISON’s eccentricity is 1.000003457 – just ‘over’ 1! If you’ve not already worked this out for yourself, this suggests that its presence in our Solar System is an event that has never happened before and will never happen again. Instead of it having a highly elliptical orbit around our Sun, it seems ISON is just passing through.

The blue kachina is a hoax and has nothing to do with the hopis. The Hopi people have gone on record emphatically stating that there are no known hopi legends, they do not share their beliefs with outsiders, and that anyone claiming or that has ever claimed to have special hopi knowledge is a fraud and a liar. Robert sky himself admitted to making the whole thing up in the 60's.
You can believe what you like, i am not here to partake in any arguments, i just thought i would share the FACTS with people that would read this thread and your comment and start worrying all over again.
No blue kachina, no red one either, according to Hopi chief.

"In astrodynamics or celestial mechanics a hyperbolic trajectory is a Kepler orbit with the eccentricity greater than 1. Under standard assumptions a body traveling along this trajectory will coast to infinity, arriving there with hyperbolic excess velocity relative to the central body. Similarly to parabolic trajectory all hyperbolic trajectories are also escape trajectories. The specific energy of a hyperbolic trajectory orbit is positive. The shape of a hyperbolic trajectory is a hyperbola."

comets follow orbits
a completion of a cycle

but not ISON
it came from nowhere and is heading for infinity!!

They will spend hours and hours (and taxpayer dollars) creating elaborate arguments (which they cut and paste from Wikipedia and their "simulators") only to be shot down every time by Anonymous Caretakers.

It is nothing new for Earth to pass through a Comets tail, that is where we get meteor showers from.

[link to science.nasa.gov]
"For several days around January 12, 2014, Earth will pass through a stream of fine-grained debris from Comet ISON," says Wiegert. "The resulting shower could have some interesting properties.

According to Wiegert's computer models, the debris stream is populated with extremely tiny grains of dust, no more than a few microns wide, pushed toward Earth by the gentle radiation pressure of the sun. They will be hitting at a speed of 56 km/s or 125,000 mph. Because the particles are so small, Earth’s upper atmosphere will rapidly slow them to a stop.

if a piece of ison hits us and causes any damage, i will admit i was wrong. We get hit with things all the time. I know people dislike my confidence, but the numbers are there. They know how to plot trajectories. They know how to calculate and predict. They may not know if ison will survive the sun, they may not know how bright it will get, but that does not mean they dont know where it is going and how fast. If it breaks up now it will not change the orbit enough to make any noticeable change here.

Ison could be a harbinger of doom or it could be a sign in the heavens to precipitate TEOTWAWKI

Doom either way

A once in a civilization event

1st day of Hanukkah = Ison reaches Perihelion

A sign in the heavens

Ejection trajectory.

Said the night wind to the little lamb (young sheep)

Do you see what I see?

Way up in the sky little lamb

Do you see what I see?

A star, a star

Dancing in the night

With a tail as big as a kite

With a tail as big as a kite...

If Ison is a once in a civilization event, brighter than the Moon and we can see it in broad daylight then it is most likely the sign we've waited for.

Of course it could be a simple meaningless coinky-dink like everything else. They say the world has no meaning. just a meaningless big bang.

Nothing to see here...move along.

A more immediate result of these operations will be the increased use of military forces, weaponry, and equipment such as tanks and armored personnel carriers in civilian law enforcement, the suspension or elimination of Habeas Corpus, the elimination of jury trials, the attempted disarming of the American People, and the institution of martial law with show-trials conducted by a tribunal of judges. - William Cooper 1997 (RIP)

"If it's TRUE, it cannot be a THEORY!"
-- Kentroversy (02/23/07)

The light is always stronger than the darkness.

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. - John 3:19

Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, right at the door. - Mark 13:29

Re: Does comet ISON have a 333 year orbit?
How can anyone know it's true orbit for the next 40 years?!

We just saw this thing and it's reacting in an strange way

You can't predict anything about a comet we know nothing about

we already know lots about it. Its orbit can be predicted. After all, it has followed its orbit this far. It will not hit us.

Actually it seems that it will seed OUR elements into interstellar space. Perhaps that's the real doom. Poor universe will never see it coming.

Re: Does comet ISON have a 333 year orbit?
BadMoonRisen thinks blood was gushing from the graves of the dead like some Sam Raimi horror film. How very gullible of him.
 Quoting: Dr. Astro

You obviously don't know much about classic literature. The colorful descriptive language was typical of 18th Century historians.

Not that you would know. chuckle
 Quoting: BadMoonRisen

A minute ago you were defending it as a reliable historical record of what happened, or are you forgetting that? You must think this is a documentary:

comets and meteors cant turn water red!!.....thats unheard of!!

Oh, and I thought it was blood - shucks. chuckle

its not just my questions that are overlooked!!

Right, microbes from space were gushing from the graves of the dead. Sounds legit.

An analysis of comet ISON's orbit in comparison to historical comets.
 Quoting: Dr. Astro

Hey dude.

I am so tired.

I'm having a hard time
thinking or concentrating,
but I got a question for you.

DOES ISON HAVE A 10,000 year orbit?

I'll watch video tomorrow.
 Quoting: NewThor

No, it's hyperbolic.
 Quoting: Dr. Astro

why?

how do you know it's hyperbolic?

where does it come from? with proof please.

does it have a 2013 year orbit?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 49797835

Already explained, read the thread.
