Re: FSC Cigarettes
I suggest that we all write our senators and state reps and ask them what they will do to make a standardized FSC cigarette that does not change the taste of the cig or cause illness to those who choose to smoke.

We choose to smoke thegovernment chose to make us sick with this new FSC paper.

let us not stand for it..........WRITE To them now!

I'm in Pennsylvania so you can still get them here I guess until January 1st if I was rich I'd stock up but I'm not oh well.
I wanted to share that Last night I didn't know that I had a carpet pasted cig. And I took a couple of drags and the whole right side of my face broke into hives then I started feeling funny, I looked in the mirror and there was a huge hive right on the sideof my nose and up to my eyebrow and my vision was blurry, my heart started racing and I was shaking. I ended up calling an ambulance and they told me I was just having an allergic reaction. BUT TO WHAT? I really never put 2 and 2 together until tonight. I looked at my pack and sure enough it said FSC on it. I went to the store that still has the regular old Marlboro Reds marked "original" and that's what I'm smoking now. But I actually started feeling funny right while I was smoking the cig, I told my grandson who's 5. Then it kept getting worse, I thought that something might have gotten on the cig or something it was a butt in my ashtray on the porch. Come to find out I'm being poisoned alright. But not by mistake. WOW RIGHT?

The government really wants us to quit with all they do to change the way cigarettes are made.

Once 2010 hits we may all have to start rolling our own.

Re: FSC Cigarettes
I roll my own.

I bought a Top-O-Matic machine for $39.99.

For tobacco I use Harvest Dream Long Cut. Easier on the cigarette machine than powder blends. Cost for one bag that makes 7 packs of 100's is $6.19.

200 Gambler tubes cost $2.79. That's enough for 10 packs.

So for my first 7 packs it cost me roughly $49 with enough tubes left over for 3 packs. It would have cost me roughly the same to buy a carton of cigarettes in Maine.

It takes about a carton of cigarettes before you have your money back on the rolling machine, which is a damn good deal.

Now that the rolling machine has paid for itself i pay $8.98 for 7 packs of 100's or roughly $1.25 a pack.

I buy 4 6 oz packs of tobacco and 3 boxes of tubes at time.

And believe it or not I can roll a pack in around 3 minutes..give or take for distractions.

My dad would like to hire you....lol I hate rolling my own...but it's better than the alternative.

There is a group out there that is trying to get this stuff repealed.

I have seen a lot of people on here saying that no research has been done on the affects of FSC, but that is not true. This site has a good amount of info on how much worse these are for you then the old smokes.

Check out the site, sign the petition!

This was the final straw, have felt like shit for the last week, been thinking odd thoughts on why my smokes were dying out on me... Find out that they've put the whammey on us again... Every person who smokes in the office is currently hacking all over the place, the 4 who don't smoke are perfectly fine - so not a good going around, unless of course it is just infecting smokers...

Fook it, I just quit... 5a

I'm reading over everything here and i am in agreement with most posts. The awful taste, headaches, gagging and nausea are all occurring to me also. For them to say they only added rings of extra paper is to insult my 145 IQ. Paper is NOT what i'm tasting here. It's very OBVIOUS to us ALL that another chemical has been added to these smokes. We all can complain all we want on mostly deaf ears and we know NOTHING will be done. The only way to really revolt to just stop smoking once and for all. Yes it's not easy for us of course. I have enjoyed smoking Marlboro's for 3 decades now. I cough more than i ever have just in the last couple months from smoking these FSC's. I have in the last month cut my habit from 2 packs to one a day. I'm weaning myself off and expect to quit even sooner now. The only way to get back at them is to quit. No more money for the tobacco companies that couldn't care less about our health, like smoking tobacco wasn't bad enough, no more chemicals, no more sickness, no more ashes falling off and no more taxes to be misspent by the government. Imagine if we ALL quit how pissed off they all would be ? THAT is the ONLY way to get some payback people and i for one want some. Good bye Marlboro's. I'm quitting once and for all !!!!!!!

Well until you quit you can get NON FSC Marlboro's still online in North Carolina.

[link to www.carolinacartons.com]

Once the whole country is FSC in 2010, a lot of people will quit I am sure. I am one of them that will join you, but until then I am getting mine from NC.

Unfortunately, I don't think the Big Tobacco Companies want this, it is big Givernment forcing these laws on us, because they hate smokers......that's why they always tax us the most, tell us we can't smoke in bars and now tell us they think we all want to start our houses on fire, so they force Big Tobacco to make FSC, which is really not so fire safe if you think of all the hot ashes that fall off these new FSC cigs...........Big Government sucks!!!

Hi kay;
I think in my research I may have found out what's up with those cigarettes. They use an adhesive called ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer emulsion based adhesive. At least that it what one of the pattents for reduced ignition propensity cigarettes said was required. I looked up the chemical. It is the same adhesive used for glueing the backing on carpeting. It has shown to cause tumors in mice, but it is not know what it does to humans. Also, I read the metals such as aluminum are used to help keep the cigarette burning where the speed bumps aren't, or something like that. At any rate that explains the metal taste that I am left with. I think there is far more to this. I don't think they care at all about the 700-1000 lives that will be saved, or so they say will be saved. Also, the testing done did not prove conclusively that fsc would not ignite and start fires. What bothers me most is that the only testing done on these cigarettes was in relations to it fire safety. No tests were done as to the health risks created by the changing of the cigarettes. I also am very suspicious as to how they snuck this on us. We hardly heard anything at all about this till it went in to law. Another weird thing is that back in 2004-2005 I used to buy Marlboro's from an indian reservation in NY, they were cheaper. I noticed that the cigarettes went out, however, they did not have the smell, taste or affect that these FSC have now. I know now that the pilot test was done in NY. Everything in the passing of the FSC law was based on what happened in NY. But I can tell you, that the cigarettes in the pilot test in New York are NOT the same as the one's they are pawning off on us now. They changed them. I think we are being experimented on, against our knowledge and will, just as they did medical experiments on prisoners and children in the foster care system. No one cared about them to make a stink and now no one cares about the smoker because we have been made out to be evil bad people who are hated by the general populace. Anyway, as you can see, I am really pissed off about this whole thing. I wish there were something we can do. People are going to get very sick and some are going to die from these cigs. Anyway, gotta go to work. Thanks for Emailing me back. Nance

Hey all,

Just encountered a new pack and yuck! It's nasty in every way. I asked my local cig guy where to get smokes that did not have FSC and there is no where, so I asked him if he sold loose tobacco and he said yes, BUT they are doing the same to rolling papers as cigs. So beware they are doing it to everything that is smokable. Banana leaves anyone:)

I just bought a carton of Marlboro today that had FSC on them from a native american smoke shop and I want my money back. The Marlboros taste like shit and I spent $35.00 of my hard working money on cigs I can't even enjoy.
I have smoked for 25 yrs. This has been my choice to smoke but now I don't have the choice to smoke Marlboro without FSC. Looks like another right has been taken away from all of us again. When are we going to stand up to our Goverment for our rights and quit being a bunch of pussys?

Re: FSC Cigarettes
My husband and I both started getting sick at about the same time we noticed our marlboros tasted like crap and wouldn't stay lit. Besides the headache, sore throat and cough that we both got, I also was getting hives all over my body and my throat was swelling. I have lots of allergies and occasionally deal with hives after exposure to harsh soaps and such but I'd never had hives all day long every day when I was home (week off for the holidays). Much net searching revealed it was likely the cigs, so I bought every pack without the FSC mark on them and bought everything to start rolling my own. Now, 24 hours after dropping the FSC smokes, we're both feeling much better. I have no doubt that is what caused both of our symptoms. And by the way, I read that the chemical they're using in NEOPRENE. Bad stuff. Google it.

To repeat what some have already said - the tobacco companies didn't want this, it was forced on them. Trying to make smokers quit, or trying to kill them, I'm not sure which, but I'm leaning toward the latter. Government intervention and raping of our liberties in yet another new form.

For those with friends/family who refuse to hear how evil our government is, here's a tip: stop beating them over the head with it and screaming at the top of your lungs. We used to do that until we figured out that the reluctant-to-believe listened and some even opened their minds once we started tapping them on the shoulder and whispering.

I hope you don't mind the self-promotion, but here's a video I put together with one of my husband's songs that he uses to spread the word. The song is called Think - and it's a great for getting people to stop and really think for themselves about what is happening in the world all around them.

The rest of the post that got included and screwed up in the link!
I smoke the SkyDancers, far cheaper than American Spirits, not quite as tasty, but the price difference of 30 bucks a carton is worth it! 10 cartons, 132 bucks. Been buying here since before the big dollar a pack tax hike in my state.

Here is the link:

Has anyone bought any from the bargain bin? If so, how are they? It is 4.95 per carton?

I doubt if you can make your own for that price. Of course shipping and handling are added to that.

Re: FSC Cigarettes
Thanks OP for bringing this up. The FSC make me ill. I never cough with regular cigs, but when the FSC came out I could barely stop coughing from the minute I woke up in the morning and throughout the entire day. I finally travelled out of state to buy some normal cigs, and the very next day I was coughing less. A few weeks later, with normal cigs, I wasn't coughing at all.

I agree with all the other posters that what we really need to do, for numerous reasons, is to roll our own. I haven't gotten around to trying it yet, but I expect I will in order to avoid these awful FSC cigs. Still, I'm outraged that various States are passing these FSC laws without public notice or comment and without investigation into the health effects of whatever chemicals they're using. FSCs make you feel very badly physically, and very quickly at that. It totally pisses me off that I'm forced into manufacturing my own cigarettes ( a LEGAL product), just to avoid this attempted murder by the same State that profits so much off smoker's backs.

We should figure out who lobbies all these state legislatures to pass FSC laws. We need to track these people down and hold them accountable.
