Been trying 16 hours moderate fasting still no change in stubborn belly fat.

I will up it to absolutely no food meaning not even a carb free cheat like a few pork rinds.

I'll just have coffee in the morning and that's it until 2pm.

Been doing moderate Keto/low carb for almost a year and dropped 50 pounds but the last 5 pounds have taken like maybe 2 months and that's with starting a little bit of jogging and/or weights.

I just started the OMAD (eat One Meal A Day) diet 3 weeks ago. I'm losing inches more than weight, for now. I eat whatever I want for dinner, but still stay away from sodas. Coffee and water during the day only. It's easier now than when I first started.

Same here. 84 pounds in 6 months, with several vacation weeks of eating everything and not fasting. Doing the fasting and one meal a day I lose 1-2 pounds every day. I also have the cheat weekends.

Everyone starts where they are - I have a friend that is not convince and wants to do something after the dorado the year.

I was the same - TOTALLY unconvinced it could possible work as I had been a gym person with six meals a day when ai was in shape in the past.

So - I saw it here on GLP - God Bless that person - gave enough background that ai took him seriously so I gave it the GLP benefit of the doubt

Started just not eating breakfast. Coffee 5-8 am whenever (and I cheat an put my organic MOLLASSES in it and a big spoon of coconut oil)
This is somewhat what I did and recommended to my friend :
Coffee and no food before 10 am (I work at home a lot)
Then a week or two later - 11 am ... Then awhile later - NOON
I have my second cup of "enriched" coffee at noon
We stopped BREAD - the worst food on earth I now think.
Then I did some more youtubes and decided to do the shortened "eating window" I didnt lose weight yet but felt good.
So then I decided I could not eat until 1, then 2 then 3 and now even if I cheat Inrarely eat anything before 3 or 4 - I watch the clock.
So let's say I decide to eat at 5 after all day no food - water coffee and tea with stevia only.
If I eat at 5 I might have a big salad - with hard boiled eggs and cheese and ceasar dressing (high fat- low CARB.
Then a meat and some veggies ... Then some sugar-free pudding made with half n half - so Ineat whatever I want and it takes a couple hours and then DONE if I eat for 5-7 then I am fasting 22 hours and eating 2 a day.

Big meals get harder and harder to eat - your stomach shrinks and you can't eat half your plate sometimes!
SHOCKER - We had MORE energy on fasting days !!!
And we worked physically at our jobs then too ( I was up and down ladders all day)
My husbands arthritis felt better! He actually wAs pleasant most of the time during fasting - not HANGRY - ( then he decided to go KETO and for KETO FLU for a couple days )
Intermittent fasting is based on the principal that you have to let the body TAKE OUT THE TRASH before you stuff more in!

We slept better
More energy even after weeks!
Didn't miss food or cleaning up
Saved money on vacation - no 3 meals out!
Spent the time taking walks instead of eating
Anything to keep from sitting or eating - worked our big garden
ONE MEAL A DAY!

Studies show after just 16 hours fasting there is a long term benefit from recovery and detox - the body REPAIRS ITSELF when it's EMPTY !
But don't get in the way when it's time to eat!

I told my friend - before OMAD you can do two meals - 5-6 hours apart - time to digest - like maybe 1 pm lunch and 6 pm dinner . Still 18 hours fasting . I had low blood sugar and NEVER could go without eating before.
There is less blood sugar spikes with NO food than with small meals - AND studies show less muscle loss - all fat loss on IF diets.

I rewarded myself with pie if I wanted it or whatever.

Always choose higher FAT lower CARB choices so you can get to KETO later . Thats another step where your body runs on FATS and not CARBS

We eat a LOT- but the fridge stays full and we don't have to get as many groceries . Husband saving on lunches at drivethru - and if he is running late or wants to eat - he gets a whole cooked chicken and eats it as he drives around for work. Cheaper than a sub .

Every meal fills you like Thanksgiving and you sleep like a baby.

I didn't want extreme weightloss because I had a friend that did some injections program at a docs and was left with sagging hanging skin and it never tightened. (She had tonher surgery to remove it).

I want my skin to shrink as I do. So I cheat whenever I want. I still am down two jeans sizes and I am confident I can lose over the next year to my desired weight - maybe even a little more the next year after that to a tiny waist. Husband is down to his tightest hole on his belt - will have to buy a smaller belt soon. His arthritis is NOT flaring with the cold so far this year.

I used intermittent fasting to help me lose weight in my early 20’s. I went from 210 lbs to around 160 in a year. Intermittent fasting coupled with a healthy diet and excise can work wonders. I started with 12/12, then 16/8 and all the way up to 24 hr fast. For the 24 hour fast, I would eat a massive lunch and then wouldn’t eat until lunch the next day. Would make sure to drink a ton of water to help with hunger “pains” but hey eventually went away entirely. I’d also sometimes workout in the morning before ending my 24 hour fast and those workout were always the best.

I totally suggest it to anyone struggling with weight loss or if you seem to have plateaued on your workoust. Trying to get back into it. We’ll see, life has been crazy recently.

You sleep wake up around 6 or 8 am then you start again around 11 or noon

So you are sleeping most of the fasting part

Haha and the Blessed Mother over in Medjugorje (circa 1981 to the present) that’s in the former Yugoslavia, think Marian apparitions in Lourdes, think Fatima) has stressed fasting on bread and water 2 days a week since back in 1981 as a path to holiness. My ex used to be so pissed off that I did this, that he actually had his attorneys include this “fasting” as some kind of proof of I’m not sure what in the divorce papers. He didn’t want me weird enough to give him custody, of course, he didn’t want the cost of getting custody of 3 kids, what a stingy narcissicist!!) but I guess to show how weird it was. As I said then and say now, pray for those who persecute you. I was ahead of my time, thanks to Mary’s special intercession for us from God.

i started eating only dinner when i was a child...i knew that in the future i would need this.
no sodas, as little sugar as possible.
once i eat i go to sleep.

if i try to eat a lunch, it makes me sleepy.
so only at night a couple of hours before turning in.

at any given moment, our bodies are doing ONE of two things:
digesting or detoxifying.

when you eat, your body STOPS detoxifying and begins digesting.
once digestion is over, the body fully resumes the detoxifying.


so i prefer to stay in the latter mode.
food bogs me down.

sometimes i drink water and think its the closest thing to the right food, the food we are supposed to have, not this stuff here we all have to eat.
maybe a mix of light and water, something like that.

you ever really watch people when they eat?
its truly disgusting.
and all the WORK we have to put into eating, the dirty dishes the energy expended gathering and fixing and eating and cleaning up after..it just seems wrong.
all that time spent just dealing with food is just wrong.
its like we are distracted from something because we are having to feed this bodies.
and its not even the right food.
idk, i have issues i guess.

i feed my husband well though, he just loves to eat.
makes me happy to see him happy and full.

Couldn't lose it no matter how much run or train. Then started intermittent fasting since September. Lost 15 lbs with flat stomach. I chose 18/6 hour window. I eat whatever I want during 6 hours. I drink black coffee in the morning and drink water in the evening. Sleeping well.

I've been doing the "Bulletproof" coffee for breakfast thing for the last few weeks (a pint of drip coffee (Taylor's of Harrogate, of course) with whipped double cream and organic coconut oil - delicious!) combined with a 5-hour eating window (noon to 5pm) during which I will eat one or two small meals.

I think it's working, and it's easy to do (if you like fatty coffee.)

I've started my New Year's resolution early. Ate way too much this Thanksgiving and don't want to get slammed with even more pounds this Christmas.

Here are my questions: I did keto over a year ago to lose a stubborn 10 - 15 lbs and have nearly gained it all back - which is so frustrating that I don't know I want to do keto again. After I lose the weight, how do I keep it off? I'm in my 40s, will I need to change my diet permanently?

Also, I haven't reached menopause yet but have friends that have and they say it's nearly impossible to lose the weight after menopause - especially belly fat because of hormones. Does intermittent fasting help or hinder a woman's hormonal balance? In other words, if I go off the diet, will the weight (and then some) come back?

What about exercise? While on keto I had a hard time losing those final lbs, my friend (who was also on keto) said it was because I exercise too much and the body holds onto the weight with too much exercise - I've googled and found conflicting information on this. With intermittent fasting, can I still engage in moderate exercise? (I walk about 3 - 5 miles a day).

After reading this thread, I decided to try keto.

Yesterday, I did keto along with eating in a eight hour window and lost two pounds my first day.

I will try this for the next six weeks, as I need to get into a bathing suit in Florida then.

Meat eating is bad for the heart, kidneys and digestion. True carnivores have short colons.
Complex carbs, legumes and veggies, all organic. Go vegan to prevent or cure cancer.

I drink black coffee in the morning. Start eating meal 12 pm and my last meal is around 5 pm. I drink water in the evening. I run 3 miles a day, 10 pull ups, 20 push ups. That's it. Started doing some youtube 6 pack exercises. Now only have 4 lol.

I did the same. Lost 40 lbs. total! Nothing worked prior to intermittent fasting. The first week was the most difficult. After that it was freaking EASY!

The weight loss has been since March of this year, and I've kept it off so far.

Feeling GREAT, too!

Coffee for breakfast. Normal lunch. Normal dinner, but I make sure I have a high veggie/bean healthy dense soup with whatever the meal is. This keeps me full without being high-calorie, and no temptation to snack after my eating window closes, usually around 7 pm.

I hydrate often, with water and sometimes coffee or tea.
