Functional potty and shower, my memory foam mattress should fit in it, and the girls would have plenty of room.

The lack of concern on security bothered me. I don't want to know what anyone has,just some ideas on how to protect you and yours.

Hard to talk about it because everything is illegal.

It would be illegals to mix waste oil with gasoline to make a faux naplam.

And if a crowd was surrounding your house...you would NEVER want to use a can of powdered lye and a leaf blower.

Then there are caltrops...which are mostly illegal (depending on how you use them).

Not to mention the things you could do with a supersoaker!!!

(or suspending fish hooks at eye level).

Nope, I would never do any of these things!!!

Nope, neither would I! Nor gun powder flashing up here and there, nor bags of extremely unpleasant materials flying out windows and doors on the marauders. Nothing dropping down from the eaves. So many things a person just would not consider doing.

Unpleasant materials flying out doors and windows onto bad people - what an awful idea! That would be too horrifying for a person's guests to ever want to return!

PS What's a caltrop? I want to know so I can avoid it.

Did you know he and his family have already left the area for an undisclosed location to a different home? Guess our nearing tremendous earthquake is something to be avoided, if a person can. And he certainly can.

The earthquake and possible ensuing tsunami are what are foremost on my prep mind at this time. CA has a markedly reduced number of earthquakes, which is a very bad sign.

The Gates family normally live in Seattle. This is the area of the incoming major earthquake. That is why he and family left. They've been gone at least a couple weeks, since shortly before the rest of us began learning of the immediate danger of the major earthquake which will take out pretty much everything.

This is only for the Seattle area. California, near their two main faults, also is in trouble, the more since all small earthquakes have recently stopped.

I don't know anything about other famous people - seems like you might be thinking of TSHTF for the country. This was not my subject - strictly western Washington and earthquake, as well perhaps as a tsunami or three.

We all need to be careful about what we share. Some folks are careful not to say anything of their own preparations, but are very interested in what we might be doing. Because we don't know who might be reading this thread but not posting, let's be very, very careful not to say anything of any real interest, okay? Theoretics only. The non-posting lurkers might be up to no good.

In theory, I am not doing much. However, an occasional surprise might not come amiss. :) Only harmless, innocent surprises, you understand, right? Nothing that could, say, scare somebody into a cardiac event, or anything like that, right? No soapy or greasy steps or anything at all that might cause harm to anyone.

Speaking of security, I mentioned "driveway alarms" and so did Bushy. These are terrific for warning of the presence of anyone at all. I've used them before for various reasons and really, really appreciated knowing when someone was coming.

Recommended as harmless to all. Cannot hurt anyone to hear a pretty chime strictly inside your home - not even an external sound to bother anyone. There are many kinds. I generally buy mine from eBay. If you need to set up more than one, get different kinds so the sounds are different. You would want to know which access is being used, so that you can make a cake before your guests arrive!

Those are the ones that will shoot each other first thing, and get themselves out of our way. Gangs will meet gangs and do the same. Few will join together as greed will be the foremost thought, not sharing, not even for more firepower.

I watched a video not long ago explaining why not to worry about marauders, and mainly that was the reason - they will take each other out. Also, they will investigate any dead bodies, stealing from pockets, fingers, necks, ears, holsters. Perhaps even looking in shoes.

Problem with that is that bodies will very quickly become infectious, and the infection goes with the sticky-fingered thief, sticky in more ways than one.

Let me edit here to say that disease will quickly become rampant - people will drink dirty water and become terribly ill, passing their illness on to others. Many diseases will become quickly contagious from lack of preparation, lack of medication, lack of hygiene. Those diseases will spread incredibly quickly, taking out a great many more people. This is why I always advise staying INSIDE for a considerable period. Doing so will make eventual forays out far, far safer than would have been the case early in the SHTF.

No, I used to be worried about these things, but not so much any more.

Just searched a little - not expensive depending on source. Good to know what I would want to avoid! This wouldn't be a good idea at all. Scare people half to death! They'd probably run a couple miles to get away from such a thing! No, this is not a friendly substance, not for us who enjoy visitors.

The Scots were under constant threat from Vikings. One night the Scots were keeping vigil and the Vikings came ashore. One of them in bare feet stepped on a thistle and let out a sound. I imagine that it was an elaborate swear but at any rate the Scots soundly defeated the Vikings because of that warning.

Yes, the driveway alarms I use are battery operated. Batteries last quite a while since they are silent until and unless the beam is interrupted. Easy to camouflage.

I learned to use tape around mine to avoid any moisture getting inside, but I live in a very rainy area.

Attach to fence, tree, gatepost, anywhere. One screw does it. They are small treasures, definitely. I always like to know when friends are headed my way.

Regarding batteries, use rechargeable! If you don't have a solar battery charger, you are definitely behind the power curve!

Nope..and if exploded indoors it would leave everyone in the room (without ear protection) dazed and confused and unable to hear for 30 seconds to a minute (or forever).

Not certain how many barefoot "guests" we might entertain, but it actually could be numbers, depending on the insanity, who has stolen what from whom, etc.

Lots and lots of thistles in my area. A person could harvest bushels of them easily! What a pretty decoration a wreath of them would make on a doorknob! Don't you agree? And on anything else a person might decide to grab. Ropes, whatever.
