Quoting: Mental Case I decided to open them up & get some DRY into them. Just tore my thumb nail opening them :( It's bleeding...don't worry, I'll live :) we are going have to put him down everyone hehe LOL Prayer is the most powerful force on earth. “I care not for a man's religion whose dog and cat are not the better for it.” Abraham Lincoln I sign all karma given. Quoting: Mental Case For those of us in cold climates...the time to store something in a ziplock or air-tight seal is RIGHT NOW! The bitter cold has taken ALL the moisture out of the air. GREAT time to seal up your rice & beans in a ziplock bag! If you're thinking about getting a 20 pound sack of rice...get it tomorrow & seal it up around wed or thurs. My white rice and beans have kept good for over 10 years and I did nothing but seal them in a ziplock aound this time of year. Good thought perhaps for some areas. We are in mid-winter and the humidity is a normal 93% here. Putting in the oven first as some have suggested, to kill the bugs that are naturally in such dry goods, then immediately putting into glass or in sealable bags is a great idea for most areas. For my area? LOL Who knows, but I have not put away much of that kind of thing. I have purchased in sealed foil packages, and original pkging. get and use dessicants for storing dry goods, even if it's not humid. Make your own dessicant with coffee creamer and ...wait for it.... wwwwwwwait for it...... a coffee filter! and a stapler. other cf uses... tissue, cleaning rag, bandage, cleans your glasses and.... keep a buncha coffee creamer...it's hella flammable! Well as long as you have a buncha tinder too...it will make an amazing flame, but go out almost immediately unless you have something to catch the flame and keep it going. That flammable and yet people drink it every day? Aaarggghhhhhhh Prayer is the most powerful force on earth. “I care not for a man's religion whose dog and cat are not the better for it.” Abraham Lincoln I sign all karma given. godblessya! User ID: 73057868 United States 01/27/2019 09:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | heh, no they charge you for the buckets here lol. I did that years ago when I did container gardening. Not only did they charge you more than what you could get a 5 gallon bucket for at home depot, you had to clean it. I guess they were food safe so mebbe that's way. But i'm probably gonna get 10 gallon grow bags like this [link to www.amazon.com (secure)] And perhaps 3 will fit in the space I have if I can maneuver everything upward...the squash may not cooperate lol as it's less a vertical plant than the tomato, but if I had it at the edge of the wall it might work. If I do it I'll put pics up so you can see. God Bless You! Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end Isaiah 9:7 Wise men still seek Him. Paranoiaaaaa Butters User ID: 77184268 United States 01/27/2019 10:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've been thinking about "acute" self defense for people who aren't able to get an arsenal built or get a gun. Quoting: Mental Case --------- TONS of cheap items on that subject! You could easily make a shield out of a piece of 2X12 and some leather stapeld to it. Caltrops (tire poppers, and feet too). Sling shot. Cheap stainless steel swords that will cut you in half (who the heck has a real hand forged sword?..except me) :) Pepper spray - bear spray - wasp spray. My pellet rifle is very quiet and will punch thru BOTH front and back of a campbells soup can with 1 shot. Hanging fish hooks right at eye level (oh I'm evil). Cowboys used to have leather wraps around their forarms...good for stopping a blade or machete. Yezzzzzzzzzz!!! I forgot BB guns can b a deterrent to the random idiot trying to steal ur shit or ...whatever. THIS IS ALL FABULOUS INFORMATION!!!!! Along those lines would b decoy toy guns painted to look real. But please only during SHTF. A cop, ahem, random so to speak, may b inclined to believe they r real also. Do not do this!! That is dangerous! Anyone who sees what they think is a real gun could shoot you because they think you're a threat.
