I lived in Newtown for over 10 years, near Hawleyville, and there really is a sense in all of those towns...Redding, Bethel, Weston, Easton, Brookfeld etc that we're largely untouched by the problems of the rest of the country. It really has been an idyllic place to raise a family, if dull for the kds

We rarely locked our doors when we lived there, and twice I dropped my wallet (once it fell out in the local movie theatre parking lot) and both times it was returned with nothing removed...

Newtown is a pretty small place, almost everyone knows everyone else by at least name or sight, especially if they're involved with the school

I cannot comprehend the horror and heart breaking pain felt by the parents and friends.

I can only offer condolences, because I cannot personally imagine the pain

I can't even think about getting into a debate on gun control right now. I have a 5 year old in kindergarten. I can't stop thinking of how terrified he would be if that had been his classroom. I can't get the images out of my mind. Those helpless kids watching their friends get shot...and then having the gun turned on them. Never to see mommy or daddy again. The noise. The blood. 6 adults dead...20 kids.

My theory based on news provided, police radio chatter indicated broken front glass at front of school. Visitors had to be buzzed in, shooter(s) was/were denied access and therefore shot glass for entry. Most likely shooting door attendant in the process.(1) Upon entry to main office, shooter(s) encounter 4 personnel and shoots them all.(4) Then proceeds to room 1. Finds teacher and kids huddled in corner. Shoots teacher(1) and then proceeds to shoot the kids while they are in a huddled mass.(20)

That accounts for 6 adults and 20 children.

My heart goes out to the families involved in this horrific tragedy and my prayers are with them.

fwiw, Newtown and Brookfield got very expensive to live in in recent years, and you needed to work at one of the handful of financial or insurance companies in order to afford the cost of living

Also, many of the people who worked for GE capital in that area were in the periphery of the company, hardly line...not like someone working in Greenwich directly with a financial mover and shaker
