(Matthew 10:10) Jesus instructed them not to take a staff, not to wear sandals. (Mark 6:8-9) Jesus instructed his disciples to wear sandals and take a staff on their journey. Jesus first refers to not hoarding in preparation for their journeys, because all they would need would be their meat and since they would be working, being worth of the hospitality they would receive, they should not bring multiples of stuff. Just the necessary. Both Matthew and Mark complement each other and in no way contradict themselves. The principle is the same, do not hoard shit, because where you are going and what you are going to do, you will get everything you need on your journey. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 36250967 Brazil 03/16/2013 02:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Bible is written in this way specifically so that people can trace parallels and complement each other, thus expanding the wisdom and understanding one gets rewarded with for knowing said parallels. In the beggining, one does not know there are parallels at all, then one start to see obvious parallels. At a later stage one can gets a hold of hints where parallels are no longer used in clear and direct ways. Most people understanding dont even get to understand its written the way it is for the specific purpose of revealing additional information slowly to those who realize it. |

Its an issue of blindness. The bible intended not these people to understand, if they cant go past these hurdles. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 36271099 United States 03/16/2013 03:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If the bible is the infallible word of 'God' & God is perfect, then why are there so many mistakes in it? Is this an admission that God is not perfect? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33398445 Here's a compilation of New Testament contradictions: Gospel Contradictions: 1) How many generations were there between Abraham to David? Matthew 1:17 lists fourteen generations. Matthew 1:2 lists thirteen generations. 2) Is Paul lying? In Acts 20:35 Paul told people "to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'" Since Jesus never made such a biblical statement, isn’t Paul guilty of deception? 3) When did the leper become not a leper? (Matthew 8:13 & 8:14) Jesus healed the leper before visiting the house. (Mark 1:29-30 & 1:40-42) Jesus healed the leper after visiting Simon Peter’s house. 4) Who approached Jesus? (Matthew 8:5-7) The Centurion approached Jesus, beseeching help for a sick servant. (Luke 7:3 & 7:6-7) The Centurion did not approach Jesus. He sent friends and elders of the Jews. 5) Was she dead or just dying? (Matthew 9:18) He asked for help, saying his daughter was already dead. (Luke 8:41-42) Jairus approached Jesus for help, because his daughter was dying. 6) Just what did Jesus instruct them to take? (John 1 :29-34,36) John already knew Jesus was the Messiah. 8) Who made the request? (Matthew 20:20-21) Their mother requested that James and John, Zebedee’s children, should sit beside Jesus in his Kingdom. (Mark 10:35-37) James and John, Zebedee’s children, requested that they should sit beside Jesus in his Kingdom. 9) What animals were brought to Jesus? (Matthew 21:17-19) Jesus cursed the fig tree after purging the temple. (Mark 11:14-15 & 20) He cursed it before the purging. 11) When did the fig tree keel? (Matthew 21:9) The fig tree withered immediately. and the disciples registered surprise then and there. (Mark 11:12-14 & 20) The morning after Jesus cursed the fig tree, the disciples noticed it had withered and expressed astonishment. 12) Was John the Baptist Elias? "This is Elias which was to come." Matthew 11:14 "And they asked him, what then? Art thou Elias? And he said I am not." John l:21 13) Who was the father of Joseph? Matthew 1:16 The father of Joseph was Jacob. Luke 3 :23 The father of Joseph was Heli. Christians shall try to LIE and tell you that one is the heritage of Mary and the other Joseph. This is utter bullshit, the Hebrew and Greek cultures NEVER regarded the bloodline of the mother. They were patriarchal societies which only concerned themselves with paternal lineage. 14) How many generations were there from the Babylon captivity to Christ? Matthew 1:17 Fourteen generations, Matthew 1:12-16 Thirteen generations. 15) Egypt? Matthew 2:15, 19 & 21-23 The infant Christ was taken into Egypt. Matthew 20:30 Two blind men. Luke 18:35-38 Only one blind man. 20) Where did the devil take Jesus first? (Matthew 4:5-8) The Devil took Jesus first to the parapet of the temple, then to a high place to view all the Kingdoms of the world. (1 Timothy 2:8) Paul encouraged public prayer. 22) If we decide to do good works, should those works be seen? Matthew 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works." 1 Peter 2:12 "Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that ... they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation." This contradicts: Matthew 6:1-4 "Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them…that thine alms may be in secret." Matthew 23:3-5 "Do not ye after their [Pharisees'] works ... all their works they do for to be seen of men." 23) Who did Jesus tell the Lord’s Prayer to? Great, I’m happy to know God is so merciful, but wait (Mark 3:29) Cursing or blaspheming the Holy Spirit is unforgivable. 36) The Elijah mystery: (Malachi 4:5) Elijah must return before the final days of the world. (Matthew 11:12-14) Jesus said that John the Baptist was Elijah. (Matthew 17:12- 13) Jesus insists that Elijah has already come, and everyone understood him to mean John the Baptist. (Mark 9:13) Jesus insists that Elijah has already come. (John 1:21) John the Baptist maintained that he was not Elijah. 37) Who purchased the potter’s field? Learn More: [link to www.evilbible.com] Many so called contradictions occur because of people who do not study the Word, misunderstand things or choose to create problems or "contradictions". Like the Fact that everything Jesus said and did is NOT recorded in the Bible!(see "contradiction" #2) Joh_21:25 (WNT) But there are also many other things which Jesus did--so vast a number indeed that if they were all described in detail, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would have to be written. The Bible does not declare itself to be a full account of everything, that ever happened. Just a general account of the affairs of God, with certain individuals or groups, in History. There were many Lepers in Israel(not just one), since they are not named, we do not know how many were healed or when(see "contradiction" #3), thus no contradiction. Many, like "contradiction" #4, are just made up. In Matthew, it talks about a sick CHILD. In Luke, a sick SERVANT or SLAVE, thus different stories. No contradiction. Some people want to make stuff up, they fit different things together to make up a "contradiction". All of this, just to promote their hatred. I could go on, but why waste my time, those who have an open mind, will believe and those that don't, never will. |

Well, I'd like to know...why must the bible be studied? And who, and how, is it determined who is getting it right? There are many types of Christianity, yet all claim truth, all claim their truth came from the bible. If the bible were perfect (as should be, coming from a perfect, loving God) then there should be only one obvious truth, one religion. |

Why would the author attempt to confuse by giving different accounts of events, especially from one who's supposed to be all loving? Circular reasoning in attempting to clarify and ignoring the questions makes no sense for what is supposed to be the truth, yet this is exactly what comes from the faithful. And, with the faithful, if this doesn't work, try insults and name calling. What a strange way to demonstrate the love of God/Jesus. Anyway, truth is forthright and never attempts to confuse. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30460893 They always do that. They have no explanation for anything other than to quote a few verses from a book that they themselves admit was 'Written by men'. When the obvious fallacy's are pointed out, they get mad or use circular logic to defend it. What are you gonna do man? Some people are just blind. |

There are six pages of people refuting OP's claim and OP was so PWNED he's run away to his mommy. Now here are you come-latelys here tyring to pretend like it all didn't happen. I know this tactic, it will not work here. I read it. All I saw from this mountain of bullshit from you Christians was you (particularly) making an ass out of yourself by calling people names instead of addressing the issue. Another fake ass christian with no morality. No fucking surprise. |
