Your video is a cartoon. Quoting: Balance242 This is absolute BS. I have seen the International Space Station myself, several times and so can you if you had any genuine interest in the truth. Get a high power set of binoculars, 30-50 times magnification and go to this website. Type your zip code and choose a fly over time. Higher the position in the sky the better. Where’s the stars? Sigh. Astro will correct me if I am wrong, but if the aperture were set wide enough to see streaking stars in the background (streaking because of how fast the telescope has to slew to keep the ISS centered), the ISS would be nothing but a bright smear in the middle with no detail whatsoever. |
Dr. Deplorable Astromut Senior Forum Moderator 02/07/2019 12:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No, it doesn't. Get some glasses you blind idiot. I was talking about the third video. Where’s the stars? So was I. Stars are too dim to show up in short exposures needed to avoid over exposing the bright daylit surface of the space station. It's the same reason you don't see stars in most of the Apollo photos or during ISS space walks, for that matter. |

A very bright white over exposed smear at that. I controlled the exposure time of the frames, there's no aperture control since it's prime focus photography with the telescope. |

It depends on equipment, conditions, locations, weather, among other things. Not all telescopes are the same. Not all cameras or CCDs are the same. Not all conditions are the same. It depends on how much light your target is reflecting, too. |

TDRS is at geosynchronous altitude and many times dimmer than ISS or Hubble. Also because it's that high it's not possible to resolve it as more than a point like light source so I can crank up the exposure to maximize its visibility in the image. |
