I know ALOT of HEALTHY gun owners that NEVER go to doctors...how do 'they' figure this into their PROBING? All these new invasions are aimed at the HERD...too bad for them...you're gonna PAY for PLAYING!

Don't know about nurses but doctors are required to ask this questions now, filled out and sent to the 'home office' guess the task is passed on to the nurses.. it was in 0bama health care bill.

In the military you are trained with a rifle or pistol. There is no such thing as a gun. I would never own a gun, is therefore not a lie.

When I had my gangrene gallbladder taken out and spent 10 days in the hospital. I had home nurse visits for two weeks and was asked if I had guns in the house. I respond that if I did I would not tell them. So the below has some merit.

FYI, I am passing this along... there are comments from two other people that have also been asked if they keep guns in the house. The nurse just kinda slipped it in along with all the other regular questions. I told her I refused to answer because it was against the law to ask.

Everyone, whether you have guns or not, should give a neutral answer so they have no idea who does and who doesn't. My doctor asked me if I had guns in my house and also if any were loaded. I, of course, answered yes to both questions. Then he asked why I kept a loaded gun close to my bed. I answered that my son, who is a certified gun instructor and also works for Homeland Security, advised me that an unloaded, locked up gun is no protection against criminal attack.

The Government now requires these questions be asked of people on Medicare, and probably everyone else.

Just passing this along for your information: I had to visit a doctor other than my regular doctor when my doctor was on vacation.. One of the questions on the form I had to fill out was: Do you have any guns in your house?? My answer was None of your damn business!!

So it is out there! It is either an insurance issue or government intervention. Either way, it is out there and the second the government gets into your medical records (as they want to under Obamacare) it will become a major issue and will ultimately result in lock and load!!

Thanks, from a Vietnam Vet and retired Police Officer: I had a doctors appointment at the local VA clinic yesterday and found out something very interesting that I would like to pass along. While going through triage before seeing the doctor, I was asked at the end of the exam, three questions: 1. Did I feel stressed? 2. Did I feel threatened? 3. Did I feel like doing harm to someone?

The nurse then informed me that if I had answered yes to any of the questions I would have lost my concealed carry permit as it would have gone into my medical records and the VA would have reported it to Homeland Security.



Looks like they are going after the vets first. Other gun people like retired law enforcement will probably be next. Then when they go after the civilians, what argument will they have? Be forewarned and be aware. The Obama administration has gone on record as considering veterans and gun owners potential terrorists. Whether you are a gun owner, veteran or not, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED ! If you know veterans and gun owners, please pass this on to them. Be very cautious about what you say and to whom. They are coming for us, so unless you're an ostrich, do not stick your head in the sand......

Asking about domestic abuse and guns might be part of a campaign to identify women at risk for domestic violence and offer them a "safe place" to declare certain things and get immediate protection. Some women are so terrified and brainwashed by their abusers that they believe the men have some kind of mind control over them. They need help in asking for help. An awful cycle.

A hard cold stare doesn't imply an affirmative or negative. Answering the question is problematic based upon the ethos of the health care workers and their agenda.

They may be seeking information only neutrally to fulful a legal requirement. That doesn't mean it is constitutional, only that it currently is the law of the land and hasn't been judged as unconstiutional.

Answering, "It's none of your business." could evoke an emotional response and a comment that "the patient refused to answer the question."

If a health care worker supported the patient's rights to firearms, then they still might be trapped by such new rules. You could actually by answering give them information that they don't really want and ruin your chances at having a concealed carry permit.

If one is mentally altered, however such problematic language is defined, then one could lose your gun rights. It is capricious.

One could answer certain questions and giving an answer could suggest to certain liberal folks that the patient was a hard core defiant person who is not respecting authority and might be exhibiting sociopathic behavior. Not wisdom.

Silence is a valid answer. Chest-thumping doesn't help your case or cause.

look they claim the Constitution is a simple straight forth document.. I beg (not brag) to differ...Cause I'm still not clear on what a 'natural born citizen' is..and doubt any one else does either.. and it was never who is a citizen or not, it was about who could/should legally be aloud to hold office of president of this country.

And the other night it hit me..Cause they (founding fathers) threw in these words :regulated Militia/free State = right of the people all under one blanket Amendment it can very well be claimed to be interpreted as to 'mean' that a state=people keeps a local police/national guard... so forth an so on.. the right of the people to 'bear arms' has/is already covered! Makes me sick.. but understand it all depends on who interpreting it..

One might argue, but probably pointlessly, that such questions infringe upon HIPAA privacy legislation and therefore while can be asked, since it is released to others, might be an infringment of your privacy that is guaranteed by the Law.

Medically speaking such questions help isolate issues to determine in a troubleshooting manner, much like a mechanic to provide treatment and suggestions. However, an insurance person is seeking information to determine risk for statistics (acutary science or biostatistics or both) to determine altering the cost of such insurance. Since we have managed care, the insurance companies are in charge of paying medical workers, not you as a payer.

Because most people don't pay with cash, the insurance company has the political clout to determine health care.

Seriously? WTF? This is really getting crazy.

Medical personnel asking if there are guns in the house? I could MAYBE understand a 911 operator asking that question before they dispatched an ambulance but at a routine medical check up or ER visit?

I don't have guns but if I did I would certainly say "NO" with a straight and ernest face.
