Anyone else notice the EQ cluster near Easter Island as well? Just a little spooky considering the timing, and everything else going on in the world. hiding

Considering the timing of what? without Googling can you tell me what plate Easter Island stand on?

Um I meant considering that it's almost EASTER. Geez, relax. It was just a simple observation. I do realize Canary Island doom is a separate entity.

OMG dude. Easter Island EQs. Easter Sunday. Nevermind. You seriously need to chill out. Whether you think this is all BS fearmongering or not is irrelevant; people enjoy reading and contributing to this thread and nothing you say will stop them. I guarantee younot a single person has actually bugged out due to this "fearmongering" you keep accusing eberyone of. Prideful One with ugly attitude,
I\'ve also been here since day one. In fact I\'ve been watching the Cumbre Vieja issue closely since 2001. If you dont like how others post here? No one needs your permission to post ideas without getting slammed as a troll by some nasty wench. Several of us have voiced similar sentiments on your behavior.
Move to another thread or start one that suits you.

Rugen the bowels of El Hierro
Diarro El Herro 3/29/2013
Seismic activity today was frantic. The magma that runs the bowels of the island exerts pressure such that not only shakes the foundation of the island, but the moves and deforms. The magma That runs the bowels of the island exerts pressure not only Such That shakes the foundation of the island, but the moves and deforms.

Also, the last data received from the GPS station Canaria Geodetic Network installed in La Restinga, reveals \"a significant shift towards the East.\" Es decir, la presión del magma “infla” y desplaza a El Hierro. That is, the pressure of the magma \"inflated\" and moved to El Hierro.

Great Article On This Potential Threat.

An East Coast, Underwater-Landslide Source of Giant Waves

Tsunamis cause the sea to begin "tossing" when they mound up over the shallow continental shelf as they move toward shore. And they often cause "roaring" when they begin to overtop the coastline itself.

Returning to the threat to Atlantic shores from tsunamis originating in the Canary islands, note that six geoscientists have just published a paper on the subject that indicates that this threat is much greater than inferred by previous studies. Sebastian Krastel And Others (Jour. Geophysical Research, v. 106, no. B3, 3110/2001) surveyed the submarine flanks of the Canary islands with the GLORIA long-range side-scan sonar system, bathymetric multibeam systems, and sediment echo sounders. They identified twelve geologically young (less than two million years old) giant landslides, and several older ones. Most slides were on the flanks of La Palma, E1 Hierro, and Tenerife. The ages of the five youngest slides range from 13 to possibly 536 thousand years old. The estimated volumes of these slides are huge, ranging between 25 to 1000 cubic kilometers (16-620 cubic miles).

The swarm occurred at El Golfo in the northwest of the island at the location of a landslide that created a 100 metre high tsunami about 50,000 years ago.

Many of us are enjoying the thread and are fascinated with the way El Hierro has and is behaving. From a European point of view many of us go on holiday to the Canaries so there is that concern that if something was to happen what the impact would be for the neighbouring islands as well as in a wider context.

There has been another 4 and a 4.2 within the last hour. It is not giving up yet!

Re: Best El Hierro Thread On GLP - Canary Islands - ACTIVITY HAS RETURNED - AGAIN!
It is a big threat, Ned Dougherty who died and had a NDE also knows its a BIG threat from his visions he had while in heaven. He wrote the book Fast lane to heaven. Here is what he said in 2012 when all the eqs were hitting el hierro

UPDATED: September 1, 2011

I have been concerned about the potential of a devastating U.S. East Coast tsunami originating in the Canary Islands as a result of “future visions” that I was shown during a near-death experience on July 2, 1984.

I visited the Canary Island in November 2004 to study the potential threat. I now believe that the recent activity on El Hierro should be taken very seriously and that a devastating tsunami may be “imminent.” I first published a notice of my concerns about the activity on El Hierro on August 1, 2011 when approximately 400 earthquakes were reported over a several week period.  The total number of quakes now reported over the past five weeks has exceeded 4200. The majority of the tremors range between 1 and 3 magnitude. However, more than 431 earthquakes, including one measuring 3.5 were recorded on one day alone - August 22, 2011.

What makes the El Hierro situation even more ominous is the following: A mere 50,000 years ago, geologically speaking,  as a result of seismic tremors, a giant piece of El Hierro island cracked off, crashed into the Atlantic Ocean, and created a tsunami over 100 metres high that reached as far as the North American continent.

Unfortunately, this ancient event describes exactly what I had been shown as a "potential" event in the future of our lifetimes. Therefore, I suggest that readers consider watching even more closely the seismic events that are happening now in the Canary Islands.

God bless!
Ned Dougherty

Re: Best El Hierro Thread On GLP - Canary Islands - ACTIVITY HAS RETURNED - AGAIN!
Pardon me for trying to strike a chord of levity at such a serious time in the history of humanity, but I am so overwhelmed with the speeding up of End Times events that I need to search for a sense of balance in this human journey, knowing that truly there is no certainty in this life’s journey; a certainty that can only be found upon our return to God, who is our home!As if we don’t have enough to be concerned about with all of the geopolitical and geophysical meltdowns occurring globally, now it would be prudent to take a further look at the potential for a major U.S. East Coast tsunami.

Recent earthquake activity in the Canary Islands, particularly on the island of  El Hierro prompts me to once again address this issue. I initially wrote about the potential for a U.S. East Coast tsunami in my book, Fast Lane to Heaven, published in March 2001. During my first near-death experience on July 2, 1984, I was shown visions of just such an event, which I might add, may or may not happen.
My visions led me to investigate the potential of such an event emanating from the Canary Islands in the eastern Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of North Africa. In November 2004, I traveled to the Canary Islands to personally investigate particularly the Island of La Palma and reported the event in a press release, dated January 1, 2005.

On May 13, 2006, I issued another press release dealing with the Canary Island tsunami threat.  The following is the word-for-word press release, dated May 13, 2006. Upon reading this information, I believe you will understand why I believe it is rather important that we pay close attention to seismic activity in the Atlantic Ocean, particularly emanating from the Canary Islands.

God bless!

- NO real changes to the pattern. Weaker earthquakes than yesterday but still enough to talk about a continuing activity
- Epicenters did move a little North West

- A weak seismic period (compared to the last couple of days)
- Almost impossible to comment on what is going on because IGN filters the listed earthquakes on a too high Magnitude. There is a tendency (to be confirmed by the smaller earthquakes) that the epicenters are moving again towards the East (or the coast) and are showing deeper hypocenters. Would then the active magma reservoir at the moment be like 5 km to the west of the western part of El Hierro? And the mechanism at work similar to the ring fracture at a subsiding caldera?

Bruce Stout says:

Hi Inge, no I think the active magma reservoir is still Gorbatikov’s hot spot. From here the entire system is getting infused with magma (standard fault propagation). That’s what we are seeing during these swarms plus any purely tectonic quakes from changes in the stress field. The first swarms were generally under the island and each of them is all bunched up into a ball so I imagine these indicate magma moving into cold brittle crust, but here too, the dikes and faults are tiny (centimeters) across which the magma is moving into. This latest swarm also looks like a wave of magma propagating outwards and upwards like a sill until it stops and heads south and down. However, the large quakes at the periphery and heading towards the deep might be purely tectonic in response to the stress. Kind of a moot point whether there is any magma involved in them or not. I still think the main body of magma is sitting directly under the island, right here:

What is causing then the ring-like structure of the quakes out in the sea to the west of El Hierro if the magma chamber is under El Golfo? Is it a batch of magma mounting to the west of the island?

I read somewhere, eg. here [link to diariodeavisos.es] that the whole island is pushed slowly to the east by the magma which scientists concluded from the elevation being higher in the western part than in the middle or east parts. Is that correct? And is it due to the magma batch?

Landslides on ocean-island flanks have been cited as posing a tsunami threat on a trans-oceanic scale (Ward & Day 2001), potentially comparable in magnitude to or even larger than the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami (Lay et al. 2005). While this extreme scenario can be questioned (Mader 2001; Wynn & Masson 2003), there is little doubt that the threat posed by ocean-island flank landslides is both real and significant. "

And here is another interesting piece on dike intrusion and failure of volcanic flanks:
