5aI just saw Neowise. Best viewing time here on the west coast in the mountains would be 9:30 to 10pm. It is a little lower on the graphic position chart that I have seen. It was hard to see with the naked eye but with binoculars it popped right in tail and all. I tried to get a picture with my camera but no luck.

Great photos!!!!
That is what I saw with the binoculars but my camera just wouldn't pick it up for a photo.

But .... the biggest and scariest asteroid flyby is by worse in 2029, and this is the one the actually scares me.

On April 13, 2029, a speck of light will streak across the sky getting brighter and faster. At one point it will travel more than the width of the full Moon within a minute and it will get as bright as the stars in the Little Dipper. But it won’t be a satellite or an airplane—it will be a 340-meter-wide near-Earth asteroid called 99942 Apophis that will cruise harmlessly by Earth, about 19,000 miles (31,000 km) above the surface. That’s within the distance that some of our spacecraft that orbit Earth.

At closest approach, just before 6 p.m. EDT, Apophis will be over the Atlantic Ocean – and it will move so fast that it will cross the Atlantic in just an hour. By 7 p.m. EDT, the asteroid will have crossed over the United States.

Ugh! Trying to see a comet in summer is rough. Afternoon clouds rolling in from the ... NW!!!!!
 Quoting: WhiteAngel

I've gotta say, it is much harder to see now than it was just a few nights ago (the night I took the pic). It was clear here tonight and of course we went back up to the tower. If I didn't know EXACTLY where to look, and I mean EXACTLY, I wouldn't have seen it with a naked eye. It's dimmer now sadly.

But it still shows up in pics! I got a bunch tonight. I have to transfer them to my computer and then I will share a few. :)
 Quoting: Simple27

We looked but didn't see anything. Wouldn't have known where to take a pic since we couldn't find it with the naked eye. What a shame. Guess it wasn't meant to be

It needs to be very dark outside with no city lights.

Thank you for that info. We will head out east tomorrow if the clouds cooperate! We have two pairs of binocs, one a very good one for birding, hope it will be good enough!

Beautiful pictures by the way. I wished we had clear views like that over here. Those stars lit skies, unreal!

Anyway, I am out again. Starting the day. Hope you find some sleeps soon. Love you Sim! hugs

I was looking at that time but didn't see it. It was mostly cloudy again anyway. I guess I won't see it. I waited until it was visible in the evening hours, but most nights we've had clouds or rain. There are too many lights around here anyway, and too many buildings/trees. Bummer.
