Re: Mad World
Seems more culturally based then an inherent trait.

Not every society has praised and/or rewarded such behaviour
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76551647

It's greed and vanity run amok.

Self restraint is a trait of the quiet ones..while the loud, obnoxious imbeciles..get all the attention.

Look at all these vids of people losing their minds in grocery stores, at just being told to 'please follow the rules..we are in the middle of a global pandemic'.

There is no feeling of community. Just a series of one man islands.

Social media brought the cultural rot front and center and delivered it moment to moment at light speed, anywhere one has a device to connect to it.

I've been spending more time offline purposely for a few weeks now and it no longer difficult to stay offline like it was.

I spent several hours yesterday crafting tiny flowers and flower boxes for my diorama. It is very difficult, takes tons of focus and I love it.

Today I'm going to do the door.

On the topic of vanity... I found it highly irritating to see how upset some were when not able to get their hair professionally cut and colored. Or nails manicured, during the first issued shelter in place order. Seemed to take precedence over everything else.

I saw news articles written to help comfort people suffering from anxiety due to this. And highly detailed instructions on how to give yourself a haircut during the pandemic. Right next to articles about the state by state death counts, and skyrocketing unemployment.

I’ve been cutting my own hair for years. I see no point, as an adult, to rely on another for grooming.

But I’d like to think that even if I did rely on those services, that I wouldn’t suffer great anxiety when deprived of them. But rather feel sympathy for the people who provide those services, not being able to feed their families.

I just had my mom do it for the last 2 decades..and now I let my partner do it. My hair is fine and cutting a straight line across my back takes less than 30 seconds.

Lack of compassion has been one of the harder aspects of this for me to stomach. I knew people were selfish, I knew people were dumb, I knew people were opportunists, but I didn't know to what caliber and that I would see it everywhere.

Horrible to watch.

I don't enjoy Interwebs any longer. It is all the same topic with monkeys on either side throwing feces.

I recently saw an article about a short film called Chaetophobia, created by a hair stylist named Claire Moore. It’s visually very uncomfortable. Shows hair styled and coifed on parts of the body it typically wouldn’t be. But it’s meant to make people question their attachment to hair.

“People have so much emotion attached to their hair and think of it as a major part of their identity but, in reality, hair is just dead skin cells.” - Claire Moore

I cut off about 6-8 inches every year. Once it reaches my lower back I cut it along my bra strap. Then let it grow for the year.

Sounds disturbing. Like a John Waters movie. I got 10 minutes into Pink Flamingo before shutting it off in horror and I'm still disturbed.

Cringy is not appealing. It's gross.

It was when my hair was falling out in clumps I realized I had taken my 'fasting' too far. My hair has never been the same.

Brand-Shilling Wife of Treasury Secretary Mocks Instagram User for Having Less Money Than She Does

Here's Louise Linton, the wife of Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, attacking a woman who wrote “glad we could pay for your little getaway” after Linton posted a photo Monday night about wearing #hermes, #valentino, #roulandmouret, and #tomfordsunnies on an official government-chartered #daytrip to Kentucky.

For those of you keeping score at home, Linton manages to both complain about how much she sacrifices in taxes while shaming the woman for not earning as much; suggest that she and her husband, who made a significant amount of money at Goldman Sachs before running a “foreclosure machine,” have given more to their country than their haters ever could; employ the strategic use of the curled bicep emoji, the blowing kisses face, and “Lololol”; and, of course, the coup de grâce—“you’re adorably out of touch.”

I do have to say..if this doesn't collapse the economy and lead to a tsunami of layoffs/foreclosures, I have considered it may be a boon for people like me who make and sell their own product.

Made in America comes back to the forefront. That is..if people will still have money to spend on luxuries like jewelry and such.

Re: Mad World
'Don't be an idiot like me': Truck driver, 51, posted tragic last message just a day before dying of coronavirus after catching it at a party in California

More than a dozen people who also attended the party have since come back positive for the virus.

Macias penned his last Facebook post on June 20, writing:

'Some of you know, but most don't. I f***ed up and went out a couple of weeks ago and I contracted the coronavirus.

'Monday I tested for it and it was confirmed on Thursday. Because of my stupidity I put my mom and sisters and my family in jeopardy. This has been a very painful experience.

'This is no joke. If you have to go our wear a mask and practice social distancing. Don't be a f***ing idiot like me.

'Thank you to all my friends who have brought me food, and to everyone who has been there for me.

]Hopefully with God's help I'll be able to survive this. I love you all.'

[link to www.dailymail.co.uk (secure)]

He died.
 Quoting: Seer777

The point being...we have this guy here..who in his hubris decided to buck common sense and social distancing during a pandemic, and then when he got diagnosed with Covid 19, he passed it to his family and then begged for God to save him, the day before he died.

Now..for those left behind in the fallout, they are left with this 'last message' of his..where they may have as well..prayed for his recovery, only to see their prayers ignored as well.

This can cause a crisis of faith on the part of the person whose prayers were clearly ignored and then left to wonder if prayer is useless.

I saw a thread asking that very question a week or so back.

Is prayer useless?

Of course most believe it is very real for them, and that they have witnessed personal miracles which reinforce their faith.

But what, in the case of this guy?

The one that asked for God's help to save him from CV-19 and died the next day?

As someone who has struggled with faith for years now, I can see how crisis of faith pop up very easily. This is one of them.

People whose faith is strong, will justify it with..I guess it was just his time. God wanted him, with him..and so on personal justifications people use..when prayers are clearly ignored or don't seem to work at all.

I wonder what the Pope told himself.

Just look at this..

Look at it.
