Are they like open fields to grow food? Are they housed inside a fence? Are they slaves? Allowed to leave? Quoting: Seer777 One either get a job in the city or become a field worker or factory worker? Do many females from those countries willing seek out Chinese husbands or it is through kidnapping and human trafficking? Chinese government has been done this for many times. After the end of the culture revolution, Mao realized that his red guards could be a potential threat to his power, he then ordered the young students to go to vast rural area, they went there live with peasants, work in collective farms, they needed to self-sufficiency in there, and heavily monitoring by politics bureaucracy. It's basically a labour camp. Quoting: oOZ My parents was the victims of this movement, so does many Chinese families. They usually couldn't finish high school. China is not an agriculture self-sufficiency country, as the gov cutting short of the import from US, and large part of the unemployment in the city they need to once again solve the problem. Some of them are willingly, lots of them just illegal human trafficking, it's a black market Are you talking about The Great Leap Forward? I saw a documentary some years back about this very thing. How much of that history is taught to youth or is it a taboo subject? How is the mass starvation and the memories of those who survived spun to the Chinese public today? Here is the documentary if you have a desire to watch it and tell how accurate it is.. You know what the 'Lock him up' bit reminds me of.. The 'landlord vs. peasant trials'. Quoting: Seer777 Mass killings of landlords under Mao Zedong Part of Mao Zedong's land reform during the late phase of the Chinese Civil War and the early People's Republic of China was a campaign of mass killings of landlords in order to redistribute land to the peasant class and landless workers. It resulted in millions of deaths. Those killed were targeted on the basis of class rather than ethnicity, so terming the campaign genocide is incorrect. The neologism "classicide" is more accurate. Class-motivated mass killings continued through the almost 30 years of social and economic transformation in Maoist China resulting in the deaths of 90% to 95% of the what used to be 15 million members of the landlord class in China according to Harry Wu 20 to 43 million people perished from starvation during the Great Leap Forward. Not all deaths during the Great Leap Forward were due to starvation. Frank Dikötter estimates that at least 2.5 million people were beaten or tortured to death and an additional 1 to 3 million people committed suicide. The Great Leap Forward also led to the greatest destruction of real estate in human history, outstripping any of the bombing campaigns during World War II. Approximately 30 to 40 percent of all houses were demolished. [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] @11:11-12:13 It's not the great leap forward, there are too many politics movements when Mao was in power. Culture revolution was after GLF, and at the middle of culture revolution there was 'down to the countryside movement', I known it's really confused...they kept come up with new movements to dumbing down young people [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] Thanks for clarifying. This part in particular sound very familiar.. The Cultural Revolution started with Mao reaching out to high school students for ideological and material support. Maya maize god Like other Mesoamerican people, the traditional Maya recognize in their staple crop, maize, a vital force with which they strongly identify. This is clearly shown by their mythological traditions. According to the 16th-century Popol Vuh, the Hero Twins have maize plants for alter egos and man himself is created from maize. The discovery and opening of the Maize Mountain – the place where the corn seeds are hidden – is still one of the most popular of Maya tales. In the Classic period (200-900 AD), the maize deity shows aspects of a culture hero. [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] [link to youtu.be (secure)] Elote lived up to its reputation. Quoting: Red Hot Chilean Pepe Do you think that the so called “chudibo” spirit of how things are done in China is part of that systematic corruption? (chudibo is often used in media as a Chinese term to convey that something is good enough and no further effort is justified). To be honest I never heard of this term. But I can explain to you why everyone is corrupted in China. For example you need to build a cargo ship. You got the deal by offering customer an incredible low price. But you still need to make profit out of this project. The workers you hired is already cheapest in the world, and you used the lowest quality materials, you can only make little out of it, you then realized the whole project just a wasted of time. Wait a minute, what if you hired unqualified workers to do this job? What if you use fake materials ? Everyone from managers to supervisor has the same kind of mindset. You know the ship is going to sink when it touches water, but what if you give some kickback to your customers ? What if you don't need to build this ship at all? In that case everybody makes the money and forget about the ship, taxpayers will pay for everything, this is how we operate in China. Even the general managers responsible for aircraft carrier got arrested. Because everything is state owned business. Everyone needs to make money, that why most products that made in China is crap. Thanks for that honest assesment!. The correct term as per this article is Cha bu duo. [link to medium.com (secure)] Anyway it makes me remember a joke about the call for proposals for going to the moon. The Chinese Bid was 10 billion USD, the German bid was 50 Billion USD and the Mexican Bid was 100 billion.
