Ah he's a bit more active...but also varied diet. Sometimes he's gotta chase his dinner (typically gut full crickets) and even asks to come out on occasion. Scratches at the glass to get my attention lol.

Is that an Iguana thing? They're just rather..still(?) creatures?

I don't think they belong behind glass. It makes no sense to it.

I was also a preschool teacher in college and we had a reptile in the classroom. It would get spooked and launch itself straight into the glass. It eventually killed itself one day.

Not a good choice of pet for me. My mom also didn't like it. lol. I put an ad out for someone to come take him and the tank, and some boy came and took him away.

They're an adjustment...beardeds can become downright friendly (some funny vids online) but for example she had a snake. While it was fun having him out it's a bloody narrow window between "he's hungry, can't touch" and "he's full, can't touch". Or trying to place said dinner in the tank and instead he death wraps the snake pole and you've got to balance between fuck it he'll let go when hes ready, unwinding him without hurting him (they can be fucking stubborn and hold for ages) while avoiding ticking him the wrong way and getting a bite

Iguanas aren't known for their friendliness nor was I willing to give it the attention it needed to domesticate more fully.

I've heard they are such a pestilence in Florida, sometimes they will freeze to death in the trees and fall to the ground.

It has taken me many years, several psychiatrists, counsellors, psychotherapists, and a great psychologist, not to mention an undergrad and PhD in physics (had to undo all of that pseudoscience somehow!) to even begin to move on. It has only been in the last two years that I have been able to bring myself to recognise just how much harm this ideology caused me and so many others like me.

I thought that something was fundamentally wrong with me and didn't want to blame anything on my upbringing.

I certainly don't blame my parents, they were as loving and caring as anyone could ask for and raised my brother and I in the only way that they believed would bring us salvation from this "wicked" world. It is just tragic that the psychological conditioning has blinded them to the wickedness in their religion.

I think one of the more difficult things to accept with maturity, that beliefs that people suffer for are often self imposed.

There's truth in, 'you do it to yourself'. Not that it is easy to meet, challenge, or conquer fear or belief that no longer holds true.

It's difficult to fathom that it went that far.

That people could be deceived so completely. But there it is. Like Flat Earthers they glare at us from their postition of certainty while we marvel in the background at the wonder of it.

The Arizona man known as the “QAnon Shaman” will serve 41 months in prison after storming the Capitol on Jan. 6, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.

Federal prosecutors had asked that Jacob Chansley, who pleaded guilty in September to a single count of felony obstruction of an official proceeding, serve 51 months followed by three years of supervised release. They also asked that he pay $2,000 in restitution.

Re: Mad World
The Business of America is Business Edition

Many people have likely heard a quote attributed to President Calvin Coolidge, “The business of America is business,” but this is a misquote. The real quote is a little bit different and the context in which it was said is not likely what most would expect.

The actual quote wasn’t necessarily a simple, catchy line. It wasn’t in a Big Business Speech or an answer to a business related question.

It was spoken during an address President Calvin Coolidge gave to the American Society of Newspaper Editors in Washington, D.C. on January 17, 1925. Given that the speech was before a news trade group, Coolidge was talking about the role of the press in a modern, democratic America and included warnings about the evils of propaganda. But more specifically, he was talking the role of the press in free-market America. After speaking for a bit he eventually said:

"After all, the chief business of the American people is business. They are profoundly concerned with producing, buying, selling, investing and prospering in the world."

While the quotes themselves may differ, for many, the sentiment behind both may not differ all that much.

I think the older generation which has been living with the belief system that they will see the 'end of the world' for the last 6 +decades and attempt to manifest it, is not in the best interests of the youth that has to live here and clean up after they all die.

It's also wise to note how many people truly believe that is THE FUTURE and the only future.

I think it would be wise as a species if we could shift our thinking more toward longtermism and less toward catastrophism.

By just changing your thinking you can change how one views the potential of the future.

I get it though..people reading this are thinking..you don't have a choice! It will happen and you will be left! Enjoy Hell!

I choose to believe in something different and show Doomsday cults for their ability to cause mental illness in children, teens and adults, and often inevitable ends.

Where is the line at 'physically threatened'?

Stand-your-ground law

A stand-your-ground law (sometimes called "line in the sand" or "no duty to retreat" law)

provides that people may use deadly force when they reasonably believe it to be necessary to defend against deadly force, great bodily harm, kidnapping, rape, or (in some jurisdictions) robbery or some other serious crimes (right of self-defense).

Under such a law, people have no duty to retreat before using deadly force in self-defense, so long as they are in a place where they are lawfully present

Speaking of beer..I was surprised to hear the Temperance movement was attached the Woman's Suffrage at one point, which led to it being looked unfavorably upon by males, to later find out that it was due to drunken domestic violence and spending all one's money at the saloon with nothing left for the nearly powerless wife left at home with the kids.

A lot of women watched their kids starve. A blessing most don't see today, but some still do.

Likely be some time before I can see it, having read the books... please, spoiler away.

I only read the first hundred pages or so and what I noticed is they cut out all the boring parts.

I'm very pleased with it so far. Episode 2 tonight.

Good morning.
