Sitting shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Susan B Anthony and championing women's rights at the time. Quoting: Seer777 She believed very strongly that religion existed to oppress women. I agree with her. 20 years after Frank died, Maud was there to see Wizard of Oz open in the theater and called it one of the, greatest moments of her life. Of all the tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under the omnipotent moral busybodies. Quoting: Seer777 The robber barons cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.” ~C.S. HERE'S WHY THAT COULD BE A GOOD THING. Members of Generation Z are losing their religion, for better and for worse. My 17-year-old daughter, Sheila, does not believe in God. She attended church twice when we were trying to decide whether to raise her with religion (we decided against it). She's been at synagogue a few times, attending friends' bat mitzvahs, but those friends don't believe in God either. Her circle of close friends is diverse in many ways: white, black, Latina, Indian; three identify as bi or gay. They are less diverse when it comes to religion: Except for one girl, who's an Evangelical Christian, religion is not important to these kids. [link to psmag.com (secure)] Atheism Doubles Among Generation Z It may come as no surprise that the influence of Christianity in the United States is waning. Rates of church attendance, religious affiliation, belief in God, prayer and Bible-reading have been dropping for decades. Americans’ beliefs are becoming more post-Christian and, concurrently, religious identity is changing. Enter Generation Z: Born between 1999 and 2015, they are the first truly “post-Christian” generation. More than any other generation before them, Gen Z does not assert a religious identity. They might be drawn to things spiritual, but with a vastly different starting point from previous generations, many of whom received a basic education on the Bible and Christianity. And it shows: The percentage of Gen Z that identifies as atheist is double that of the U.S. adult population. [link to www.barna.com (secure)] My nephew was born the month after 9/11. He mentioned a couple months back that "We've been at war my whole life". What a spit in the face to his generation and the rest of us that have had to live through this shitshow. These kids went to Sunday school and were part of organizations where they were made to swear to never touch alcohol. It was brain washing. Why would they think they could choose other people's behaviors? I can't recall the name of the guy from Maine who was the hardliner on the issue and wanted to rid the whole WORLD of alcohol. It was his driving force. What is interesting to me is how these types of people spread their ideas to get movements in their favor. It worked for a short time but was eventually repealed as a total failure. Not resorting to underhanded method is up to the individual when pushing any idea on to the greater public at large. The show must go on. Bread and circus. It's all connected. Difficulties strengthen the Mind as labor does the body... ~Seneca |

New agers...etc. People just glomming on to something to belong, yet never doing the inner work. Putting on the clothes and just playing at whatever they find desirable. Mormons - the one's I have met - the towns they are the majority in, are beautiful. From the people to the environment. No homeless. But they live and grow up in homes where family is important. Character is important. It isn't fake. We could learn from them. Someone said be careful who people make you hate - I would refer to your version of your partner who is heavily armed - as you have said you have access always within reach. |
